Minecraft remains one of the most popular and most played (and most viewed) games of all time. It’s something that’s basically been on every platform and in the new age of crossplay, it’s also been one experience that’s become more and more unified as time has gone on, which was one of the purposes of the Bedrock Edition of the game. There has been one big exception to that with the PS4, but now even that bridge has fallen.

As announced by the PlayStation Blog, the Bedrock Edition will launch tomorrow on the system. The game will not only unify Sony’s system with multiple other ports, it will also allow the PS4 version of the game access to the Minecraft Marketplace to purchase skins, worlds and a variety of other things.

The PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft Bedrock Edition will launch December 10th and those already with the PS4 version of the game will get a free update, though you will be required to have a Xbox Live account.

Minecraft is one of the biggest games in the world, if not the biggest. The sensation has been ongoing for a long time now and has lead to many different updates as well as spinoffs based on the concept and universe. Today we got a look at a much requested update for the main game: character creation. There’s also foxes now.

The newest update, 1.13.0, comes to the Bedrock Edition and you can finally fully customize your Steve. While there’s always been different skins, now you can alter things like skin tone, limb lengths, hairstyles, etc. Your blocky person can be a little more of your own. There’s also foxes now, that will come out primarily at night to steal your belongings. So, there’s that, but you can befriend them.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition is available now for Xbox One, Switch, PC, iOS and Android. No word yet on when or if these features will come to non-Bedrock Editions of the game. You can read more about the updates through the game’s official blog through here.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition is the cross-platform version of Minecraft which is currently available for the Xbox  One, PC, and mobile. Now, this version of the game is also soon going to be released for the Nintendo Switch, and in a recent Twitch livestream, Microsoft showcased some of the improvements and features we can expect to see with this version.

The team is really “taking a lot of extra care” with the Switch version of the game and it’s easy to see that this is the case with some significant improvements to the game. For one, the game runs at a steady 60 fps in both docked and handheld modes. Additionally, the improved draw distance certainly makes the game a bit more detailed. Additionally, while players will need a Microsoft account to play with players on other platforms, this won’t be needed to play with other Switch owners.

This version of the game is set to release for the Switch “soon” so keep your eyes and ears open for any news about it.
