<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" src="https://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/93.-A-Beautiful-Day-in-Minecraft.jpg" alt="93.
Mojang’s Minecraft has been a monumental success since releasing for PC way back when, but its popularity truly sky-rocketed when it released for the Xbox 360. It’s now available for the PS3 as well with Vita, Xbox One and PS4 releases planned. Just how successful have the console releases been though?

According to a tweet by Mojang’s Patrick Geuder Saga, who handles data analysis, “Minecraft console editions together just passed Minecraft for PC/Mac. And across all platforms we’ve sold almost 54 million copies.”

That’s a pretty stellar amount and not the least bit surprising. After all, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has been a top selling game for nearly a year now in both the US and UK. The PlayStation 3 Edition has just recently joined it and is also selling fairly well. As of June 25th, the Xbox 360 version has sold 12 million copies while the PC version sold 14 million units.

Thoughts on Minecraft? Let us know in the comments below.

Fresh off of adding new items with update 14, update 15 is now live for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition players and developer 4J Studios has released patch notes for the same.

Some of those include fixes for blocks reappearing after being mines; random fall damage (which Ray should appreciate); Maps not correctly displaying at the star of the game; audio issues while in split-screen mode; blocks not showing damage in split-screen mode; and even something for Enderdragon sounds. You can head over here to check out the full list of fixes.

Title update 15 hasn’t added any new features or items like the most recent update 14 did – at this point it only appears to be fixes for several pre-existing issues. Regardless, the Xbox 360 Edition is inching ever closer to the PC version in terms of features. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming updates and let us know in the comments how you’re finding the game with the new updates.

4J Studios’s Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has topped the Xbox Live Arcade charts for Xbox 360 for the seventh week in a row, as revealed by charts for the week ending March 25th.

Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 edition of Terraria managed to come in at second place, while Trials Evolution is in third place. Telltale’s The Walking Dead – Season Two also managed a pretty good spot at fourth place, with State of Decay coming in at fifth. Castle Crashers, Plants vs. Zombies, The Wolf Among Us and Worms Armageddon Decade and Hydrophobia make up the remaining top ten.

This comes after news of Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson canceling the Oculus Rift version of Minecraft after the recent acquisition of Rift by Facebook. Of course, the Xbox One edition of Minecraft is also on the way and we’re seemingly getting closer and closer to a release. Hopefully the Tower of Pimps will have a more prominent role in the next gen version. Stay tuned for more.

Developer 4J Studios, which is in charge of the Xbox 360 Edition of Mojang’s Minecraft, has added a new update to the game which brings new items, some new gameplay feature and whole lot of tweaks to the already addictive sandbox experience.

As the 14th update, you’ll now have access to Emerald, Emerald Ore, Carrots, Golden Carrots, Nether Quartz, Carpets, Quartz Stairs and much more. Some of the new features include new recipes for Smooth Sandstone and Chiseled Sandstone; being able to guide pigs around with a carrot on a stick while riding them; Nether mobs spawning in the Overworld with the help of Portals; different Villager professions; new Zombie Villager mobs and much more.

Hopefully Achievement Hunter takes note of the Portals being gateways to enemy mobs before it’s too late. Head to OXM for full details on update 14 and let us know what you think of the new additions in the comments.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition continues to roll on with updates in the form of texture and skin packs. Now, the console version’s developer 4J Studios and Marvel have announced that the open world sandbox title will be receiving a pack of Avengers skins, which include the likes of Loki, Captain, America, Thor, Iron Man, Agent Coulson, Black Widow, Red Skull and many more. And yes, you’ll see several homages to the films including Stark Tower and Hulk beating the tar out of Loki.

The pack will feature 35 Marvel characters in total and extend beyond the confines of the movies to offer characters seen only in the comic books as well. Check out the screenshots below to see who made the cut.

While Minecraft alone has been a smash hit since its launch, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has also seen a stellar amount of success with 10 million units sold since launch. Will you be picking up the new Avengers skins? Let us know below.

Discounts on texture and skin packs to celebrate.

It’s easy to forget the amazing run that 4J Studios had with their console port Minecraft. The Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has since sold 10 million copies since first releasing in May on Xbox Live. Think about that – there are probably more Minecraft players on the Xbox 360 alone that next-gen console players overall.

To celebrate this milestone, the developer is offering a sale 50 percent off on all skin and texture packs till December 14th. You can check out the full list of packs and skins over at Major Nelson’s blog, but you won’t find the Mashup packs on discount.

Since debuting on the PC, Mojang’s Minecraft has managed to sell 33 million copies across all platforms its released on, which includes iOS, Android, PC, Xbox 360 and even Raspberry Pi. It’s currently being prepped to arrive on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Stay tuned for more details on a definitive release date for the same in the coming months.

Hard as it is to believe, 505 Games’ PayDay 2 has debuted at the top spot in the UK according to the latest UKIE Game Charts courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track. Given that it became profitable a week before release and is actually quite a fun game (check out our review here) it does make sense though.

The heist-centered, cooperative first person shooter managed to nudge off Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, which has been dominating the charts for a good few weeks now. Interestingly enough, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 rose up to third place, perhaps ahead of the release for Call of Duty: Ghosts (whose multiplayer reveal came just recently).

FIFA 13 is also in the top 5 at fourth place ahead of FIFA 14’s release, with Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the Nintendo 3DS at fifth place. The Last of Us is at number 6, with The Smurfs 2, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Tomb Raider and Grand Theft Auto IV (also making a reappearance) making up the rest of the top 10.

Mojang’s Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, which has been handled by 4J Studios, is still on top in the UK according to the latest UKIE Games charts courtesy of Gfk Chart Track. This makes it the third week in a row the open world sandbox title has taken the top spot, beating out The Last of Us to earn it.

Speaking of Naughty Dog’s third person adventure, it recently fell to sixth place this week. FIFA 13 managed to rise up to the second spot, while the Smurfs 2 for some forsaken reason is at number 3. Tales of Xillia for the PlayStation 3 debuted this week at number 4, which isn’t too bad at all. Meanwhile, Animal Crossing: New Leaf dropped down to fifth place.

The usual suspects inhabit the remaining top ten, with Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes, Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed III at seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth place respectively.

Mojang’s Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, produced by Mojang, is still reigning supreme in the UK according to the latest UKIE Game Charts courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track. A port of the hit PC indie title, the Xbox 360 version managed to knock Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us off the top which had been enjoying a six week reign up till that point.

However, while The Last of Us managed to get back to the second position, Nintendo’s Pikmin 3 collapsed miserably to 15th place within a week. Considering the title’s drop in Japan as well, this certainly isn’t the best sign of things to come. Regardless, Nintendo is still seeing a measure of success with Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS at third place. After being at fifth place last week, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. fell to 11th place this week.

FIFA 13 somehow managed to inch its way back up to fourth place, with the godawful Smurfs 2 game at fifth place. The usual suspects make up the remainder of the top 10, which includes Far Cry 3, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed III.

Nintendo's Pikmin 3 debuts at second place this week for the Wii U.

After a 6 week run at the top of the all-formats charts for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, the game has finally dropped down to third position following competition from Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and Pikmin 3 according to the latest UKIE Games Charts courtesy of Gfk Chart-Track.

After spending last week in second place, Mojang’s open world sandbox title finally claimed the top spot as the highest selling game across all formats in the UK (for this week at least). Meanwhile, Nintendo’s Pikmin 3 debuted for the Wii U at second place, marking one of the rare occasions that a Wii U game enters into the top 5.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is steady at fourth place while Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros. drops to fifth place. Both are Nintendo 3DS titles. This is followed by the usual line-up as FIFA 13 rises up from ninth place to sixth and Far Cry 3 drops from sixth place to seventh.
