It includes the initial hours of the title, introducing Leo and the world while showcasing how the battle system works. Unlike other role-playing games, you can banish enemies to the Dimengeon, a separate dimension, to fight later. Though there is a balance, since you need to fight all of them simultaneously, the Dimengeon does offer unique benefits to even the odds.

Progress transfers from the demo to the game, allowing you to continue playing after purchasing the latter. With sales coming up, including the Steam Winter Sale on December 19th, it’s a good time to jump in.

Fantasian Neo Dimension will be a familiar experience to fans of the turn-based JRPG genre’s heyday, with turn-based battles, a classic fantasy setting, and fixed isometric camera angles. Directed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and featuring a sountrack composed by Final Fantasy veteran Nobuo Uematsu, the game certainly has some big names attached to it. Interestingly, it’s also Uematsu’s final full game sound track, as the composer revealed earlier this year. 

Fantasian Neo Dimension is due out later this week, on December 5, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. 

In a message shared by the game’s official Twitter account, Uematsu said, “Fantasian releases on December 5. This is my final project as a composer of video game music. I hope you’ll pick it up and play it!”

This isn’t the first time Uematsu has expressed his readiness to retire from composing music for video games. Earlier this year, he said that he was unlikely to ever compose a full video game soundtrack again. 

Uematsu has, however, composed the main themes for Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in recent years. Earlier this year, he suggested that he would return in a similar capacity for the remake trilogy’s final instalment. Read more on that through here.

After remaining exclusive to Apple Arcade since 2021, Mistwalker’s Fantasian is coming to Nintendo Switch. Published by Square Enix, it’s out this Holiday as Fantasian Neo Dimension. Check out the announcement trailer below.

Set in the Machine Realm, players control Leo, who’s on a journey to recover his memories. While teaming up with different individuals and exploring fantastical environments, he also has to deal with Vam the Malevolent. Fantasian’s aesthetic is unique in utilizing dioramas for its worlds, while the combat allows for banishing enemies to a separate dimension.

You can combat them later, utilizing different skills and adjusting their trajectory to hit multiple targets simultaneously. Fantasian comprises two parts, with the second offering 40 to 60 hours of gameplay. Stay tuned for more details on improvements and new features with the Switch version in the coming months. Perhaps we’ll also learn about the rumored PC version, which appeared on SteamDB in August 2023.

In a new feature about potential announcements at the showcase, Jez Corden of Windows Central said he’s heard of “nostalgic announcements that should chase away the blues for classic Xbox 360 RPG fans.” The fact that Blue Dragon is only available on Xbox 360 since launching in 2007 is a given, but the word “blues” really gives it away. Then again, “announcements” plural could mean other titles in addition (Lost Odyssey as well, perhaps?). As always, we’ll need to for official confirmation.

Developed by Mistwalker and Artoon, the 2007 role-playing game is the first from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi after leaving Square Enix. It received generally positive reviews back in the day but never received any ports, remasters or remakes. Perhaps the announcement is a re-release for modern platforms. Time will tell, so stay tuned for the showcase on June 9th.

Sakaguchi has previously spoken about bringing the Apple Arcade-exclusive RPG Fantasian to more platforms. Back in February, the Final Fantasy creator spoke about getting many requests from players to bring the game to PC, and how the team was working as hard as possible to meet these expectations.

Originally released in 2021 on Apple Arcade, Fantasian is an attempt to return to the traditional turn-based battles and general tone of the early Final Fantasy games. The title also features music by renown Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu. Leading up to Fantasian‘s release, Sakaguchi had hinted that the game might be one of his final projects.

Speaking at a Q&A session at the Magic 2023 festival in Monaco, according to IGN Japan, Sakaguchi responds to a question about whether Fantasian is still exclusive to Apple Arcade, and whether it would be possible to bring the game on to PC.

“We have received many requests to release the game on PC too, and there have also been requests for a sequel,” Sakaguchi said, “so we would like to continue working as hard as possible to meet their expectations.”

Fantasian was released on Apple Arcade back in 2021, and focuses on a return to the traditional turn-based battles of the early Final Fantasy games. It even features music by Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu. Fantasian was released in two parts over the span of four months in 2021.

Leading up to Fantasian‘s release, Sakaguchi also hinted that it might be one of his final major projects.

A release date announcement trailer was released that showed the second part will be out soon, very soon, in fact. At the end of this week, it will release on Apple’s subscription service. The game is said to be more quest-driven in nature than the first half, but definitely won’t be a smaller experience as it’s said to be double the size of the first game and take between 40-60 hours to complete. Fantasian Part 2 will release on August 13th exclusively on the Apple Arcade service, where it can be downloaded on all compatible Apple devices. The first part of the series is available there as well.

The first part of Fantasian, the latest RPG from Mistwalker and Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, is now available on Apple Arcade. It’s playable on Mac, iOS and tvOS with the part offering 20 to 30 hours of gameplay. The second part is out later this year and adds another 20 to 30 hours. English and Japanese voice options are both available.

Set in a multi-dimensional universe, Fantasian focuses on Leo, who awakens in a mysterious land with only a single memory. A strange “mechanical” infection is taking over the world and along with learning more about it, the player will also set about to recover Leo’s memories. In the backdrop, gods are scheming and the balance of Chaos and Order is at stake.

The main calling card of Fantasian is its hand-crafted environments which utilize over 150 real-life dioramas. The battle system is also unique, letting players send previous foes into a separate dimension, while the soundtrack is composed by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu. Considering this may be Sakaguchi’s final project, it should be interesting to see how Fantasian pans out. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

At the beginning of the month, we got a some new information about the new RPG from Mistwalker coming to iOS, Fantasian. It will headed up by legendary Creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who is one of the primary Creators of the Final Fantasy series. The game certainly looks interesting and as a nice throwback to the past of the JRPG genre, but it’s also looking like it could very well be Sakaguchi’s last as well.

The 58 year old veteran spoke to VGC, and there he revealed he was looking at the RPG as potentially his last game. While he didn’t definitely say it would be the end, he said that as he and his team developed Fantasian, it’s been in the back of his mind the entire time. Specifically, he stated, “I think it is certainly possible that this could be my last project, and that was kind of in the back of my mind as we were developing it.” He states that either way, he’ll most likely take a long vacation after they finish up the game, and that he isn’t putting a lot of thought into the future for Mistwalker, the studio developing the title and the one that Sakaguchi founded after leaving Square Enix.

Fantasian will release for Apple Arcade, making it playable on all compatible iOS, MacOS and tvOS devices. As of now, there is no release date for the project.
