DLC may be incoming for upcoming Wii U flagship title.

Nintendo seems to have fully jumped aboard the DLC bandwagon. The famously online averse company first offered DLC with New Super Mario Bros. 2, and then much more successfully with Fire Emblem Awakening this year. Now, Miyamoto is talking about how there may be planned DLC for the upcoming Wii U flagship game, Pikmin 3, in the future.

In a new interview on the game, which features some of the top talent at Nintendo, including not just Miyamoto, but also Iwata, and Itoi, the brain behind Nintendo’s near mythical Earthbound series, Miyamoto let slip that the team is looking at DLC possibilities for the title. “”So, now that it is possible… by using the internet, we think we want to add new missions and maps to the game little by little.”

Pikmin 3 would be the latest in an increasingly growing line of Nintendo developed games to receive post launch support in the form of paid DLC.

Pikmin 3 is a Wii U exclusive title that is a sequel to Pikmin and Pikmin 2 on the Gamecube. It is the first title in the series in a decade, and it launches in North America in August, having already launched in Europe in Japan. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage of the game.

New Zelda Details and more

GameInformer has gotten a chance to talk about the upcoming Zelda: The Wind Waker HD remake for the Wii U with the mastermind Miyamoto. Check out the full interview at GameInformer for more information on Pikmin 3, Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Wii U Development.

Miyamoto touched-based on how the new upgrade cel-shaded graphics will be taking advantage of the Wii U to create colorful and gorgeous visuals for the HD remake of everyone’s favorite Zelda title that was released back on Gamecube.

This is what Miyamoto had said regarding the graphics, “When we brought the cartoon shading of the original Wind Waker over and were testing it on Wii U to take a look at it, we really felt that, visually, it brought the game to life in ways that just weren’t there on the GameCube,” he said. “Particularly with the way that you see the air and the wind in the game as you play with that. It really breathed new life into the project and we wanted to show that to the viewers.”

Miyamoto has also talked about how the game is improved on the Wii U with new tweaks, gameplay pace and functions thanks to the second-screen Gamepad and other additions.

“We’ve actually made a number of different improvements. I think the previous game, the length and the player pacing of it was something we thought we could improve on,” he said. “For example, this time we’ve added an additional sail, that allows the boat to travel faster this time than it did in the original GameCube game. And when you’re dropping your crane down in the ocean to hunt for sunken treasure, the length of the chain on the crane is shorter so you spend less time on that. So it basically helps to speed up the gameplay a little bit. So the pacing has really been improved upon.”

Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be coming out sometime in October for the Wii U and it’s looking like a stellar remake for all the Zelda and Nintendo fans.

Let us know what you think about Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for the Wii U, in the comments section below.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for our review of the game in the coming months.

Dylan Cuthbert, Q-Games’ founder, has revealed that Miyamoto is just as efficient as Steve Jobs, but much friendlier than him. Cuthbert had worked on the Star Fox series of games and knows Miyamoto very well.

“His private face is different to his public face,” he said during a GAME Facebook fan Q&A.

“His style of chasing ideas and cutting through bulls*** is brilliant. Internally he’s kind of like a slightly more friendly Steve Jobs, but just as cutting.”

He wants to work on Star Fox again but it depends on Nintendo, he said.

“Those questions are best geared towards Miyamoto. I know what I’d try and do with that tech, but at the end of the day, the ball’s in Nintendo’s court. I like to work on a variety of games, or life gets a little boring! Star Fox is a great world and series of characters, and one day I’d definitely like to go back to it and expand it further.”

Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

“I am spending more time than before on finding new ideas for new developments rather than focusing my energy on work in my (development) teams in order to solidify the contents of (existing) franchise titles,” he said during the firm’s recent financial briefing.

Miyamoto has revealed his future career direction in an interview with Wired.com. He is currently 59 years old, and has created a lot of masterpieces for a decade.

“Inside our office, I’ve been recently declaring, ‘I’m going to retire, I’m going to retire. I’m not saying that I’m going to retire from game development altogether. What I mean by retiring is, retiring from my current position,” he said.

“What I really want to do is be in the forefront of game development once again myself.

“Probably working on a smaller project with even younger developers. Or I might be interested in making something that I can make myself, by myself. Something really small.”

Before anyone panics, he is still at Nintendo but will work on smaller games now.

“In other words, I’m not intending to start from things that require a five-year development time,” he revealed.

Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Series director Eiji Aonuma told the Official Nintendo Magazine that his team was aiming for an early 2011 release date with the next title in the Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The game is the latest instalment in the long running Zelda franchise, and only the first since 2006’s widely acclaimed Twilight Princess, handheld titles notwithstanding, and thus, has an almost unreasonable level of hype and hysteria surrounding it. While many fans were left disappointed at the game’s E3 unveil, which was marred by several technical issues, others were left equally disppointed that the game was not releasing in 2010, instead having being given a 2011 release date by Miyamoto. Aonuma is now confirming the same.

“The basis we have now is very, very solid,” Aonuma said. “Early 2011 – that is what we’re aiming for.”

Of course, for once, Wii fans shouldn’t be left assuming they’ve been left out in the lurch, since there’s plenty releasing on the console in the meanwhile. Games like Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Epic Mickey, Metorid: Other M and Goldeneye 007 are all due for release within the next few months, so for the first time since its release, the Wii can loom forward to a steady stream of quality titles.

According to Shigeru Miyamoto, the connection that is made when playing a video game with a certain character and world is much more important than the actual story.

“More than story, what’s really important is the connection between the person creating the game and the person playing the game, and what’s very important is that the person playing the game be able to feel naturally accepting of the world that’s been created for them to play in.” said Miyamoto.

“Then what happens is if they have a natural acceptance of the rules and of what’s happening in this world that’s been created, then that bond between creator and player becomes that much stronger and that much more important,” he continued.

“And then what happens is as the player begins to understand the world that they’re playing in, then they’re going to begin to think about ways that they can play within that world; they use their own creativity and their own imagination to tell the story or to come up with their own parts of the story, and at the same time they come up with new ways to play in this world that has been created for them.”

Miyamoto later on explained how developers have to make creative play within a game world, because its a big part of why players connect with the game.

“As a developer then, we have to try to predict some of the ways that players will try to play in that world, and give them reactions or responses or rewards for using their own creativity for finding new ways to interact within that environment,” he said.

“And that to me is really what is the most important element – the connection between creator and player in a videogame.” he added.

The Wii has never been big when it comes to online gaming, because when you think about it even trying to play with another person is a pain, such getting their number for every game just to play with him.

After an interview with Edge, Miyamoto claimed that criticising Nintendo’s online strategy is “unfair” and that “Nintendo has never been less than proactive in that kind of endeavour”.

“To be honest, I think it’s rather unfair whenever I hear such comments – that Nintendo isn’t proactive when it comes to its online strategy.” He said

“The fact of the matter is that we always want all Wii consoles to be connected online, all the time, so Nintendo has never been less than proactive in that kind of endeavour.”

“It is true, though, that Nintendo hasn’t been very proactive in developing such online activities as an MMOG. But when it comes to out endeavours that try to take advantage of internet technology, where we can provide our customers with more fun and entertainment, then I think we can say we have been very, very proactive and well received.” Miyamoto added.
