The subscription service is losing some of its most critically-acclaimed titles, including The Curse of the Golden Idol and Katana ZERO.

Netflix has announced that a bunch of games that are usually available to subscribers through its Netflix Games service will be going away. While games going off the service is quite common, Netflix is losing quite a few of its heavy-hitters this time around, including critically-acclaimed titles like Katana ZERO, Braid Anniversary Edition, and the Monument Valley trilogy.

Starting July 2025, a host of games will be leaving the service, with July 14 being the “last day to play” for fans of titles like Hades and The Case of the Golden Idol and its sequel. According to What’s On Netflix, these removals account for around 20 percent percent of games available on Netflix Games. Check out the full list of titles being removed below.

For players that might make use of the service to play some of these premium mobile games, the titles in question will start displaying a “Leaving Soon” badge on their icons, giving players plenty of notice that they will be losing access to these games.

“Just like with series and film, games will be removed from Netflix as licenses expire,” said the company in a prior statement. “Players will notice a ‘Leaving Soon’ badge and be notified by the app itself well in advance of removal.”

While plenty of games are leaving the service, the report indicates that Netflix doesn’t yet plan to slow down its investment in its gaming divisions. Rather, the company reportedly wants to aim its investments towards big-screen experiences from this year onwards. Mobile games will still be coming to the service in the meantime, however.

Hades was released on iOS through Netflix Games back in March 2024. The port, made in collaboration between original developer Supergiant Games and Secret6, is compatible with iPhones and iPads running on iOS 16 or later.

Interestingly, reports from back in January 2024 indicated that Atlus was looking to spin-off its RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, with a new mobile game that would be available through Netflix Games. Atlus is known for expanding on its popular franchises quite extensively, with games like Persona 3, 4 and 5 all getting spin-offs, sequels, and even anime and movie adaptations. Metaphor: Refantazio getting its own franchise expansion should come as no surprise.

In the meantime, Netflix Games still has several critically-acclaimed titles, including Civilization 7, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition, and Dead Cells: Netflix Edition.

Full list of games leaving Netflix in July 2025:

Some games reduce stress while others like to play with your mind.

More than any other form of media, video games possess a profound power to mess with your head. Whether it’s rewiring your brain to solve puzzles, to forcibly shift imaginations to fresh perspectives, or stuff eyes with kaleidoscopic colour and flow, the games on this rundown will completely mess with your head.

Superliminal

Superliminal encourages players to reconsider how they perceive reality, effectively rewiring their brains to make sense of its gluttony of optical illusions and forced perspective puzzles. Except, each scenario in Superliminal doesn’t have to make sense; in combining 2D shapes to make 3D objects, and in twisting perspective to manipulate the size of said objects, Superliminal is a more dreamlike affair, and, just like dreams, leaves a surreal lasting impression.

Ustwo Games’ Monument Valley games are both visually striking experiences with inventive and perspective-shifting gameplay mechanics, and sure enough, the two games have been on the receiving end of their fair share of praise and accolades over the years. Naturally, fans have been asking for PC ports of the mobile titles for some time, and it looks like those requests are finally going to get heard.

Finally, the developer is bringing the two games to Steam in the form of Monument Valley: Panoramic Collection. This release features both games packed in with every single add-on and DLC released for them, with both games enhanced for the platform with features such as support for 21:9 resolutions and high-resolution artwork, alongside updated control schemes.

The two games will be released on July 12th, and players can either opt to purchase Monument Valley: Panoramic Edition and Monument Valley 2: Panoramic Edition separately, or at a discounted price by opting for the bundle.

There are few games out there that really deliver in their short playtime. UsTwo Games’ Monument Valley is one such game, offering surreal architecture puzzles that must be navigated for the sake of Ida, a silent princes of sorts. If you haven’t tried the first game, then take note – it’s currently free for Android via the Google Play Store.

The basic premise of Monument Valley involves moving Ida from one odd geometrical marvel to another, as optical illusions and environmental tricks are laid bare. Ida is going through a kind of journey and is dealing with the mysterious Crow People in the process.

Along with the base game, there’s Ida’s Dream and Forgotten Shores, the latter offering an additional eight chapters for an additional purchase. If you like the game enough, then it’s worth checking out Monument Valley 2. The sequel sees a mother, Ro, moving through the same kind of impossible architectures with her daughter, seeking to explore the valley’s mysteries.

The indie title will arrive on February 14th, which is rather fitting.

Ken Wong, who served as the lead designer for the critically acclaimed Monument Valley, has a new game coming out called Florence. This indie title focuses on a young woman who experiences the so-called highs and lows of falling in love.

Announced last year, Florence has a rather appropriate release date for iOS – it’s out on Valentine’s Day or February 14th for iOS. Pre-orders are currently open and the game itself costs $2.99. Wong’s studio Mountains will be published by Annapurna Interactive and as the name indicates, it focuses on Florence Yeoh.

She meets a cello player named Krish and love blossoms. How this plays out over their daily interactions with vignettes and mini-games remains to be seen. Apparently Florence takes inspiration from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and (500) Days of Summer which gives us a sense of foreboding given how those movies turned out.

Still, coming from the lead designer of Monument Valley means that Florence definitely warrants a look. What are your thoughts on the game? Let us know below.

Ken Wong is working with indie studio Mountains to deliver a tale "about love and life."

Annapurna Interactive has revealed that Monument Valley designer and artist Ken Wong will be releasing a brand new game in 2018 for iOS, title simply “Florence“. The game is described as an interactive story “about love and life” and will be developed by Mountains, an independent studio with Wong at the helm.

As the name indicates, Florence is about a young woman of the same name and looks at the various highs and lows she encounters with her first love. The developer has looked at movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and (500) Days of Summer for inspiration along with slice of life graphic novels to capture the various stages of grief and joy throughout Florence’s relationship.

Though a more concrete release date is yet to be offered, Florence will arrive on iOS before presumably heading to Android. If you’re interested in Wong’s other work, check out the recently released Monument Valley 2, available for iOS and heading to Android on November 6th.

Ustwo’s Monument Valley, a quirky but beautiful puzzle title for mobiles, has crossed 2.4 million units in sales. The developer announced these figures today along with a range of other stats including $5.8 million in revenue (the original development cost was $1.5 million, including work on the expansion).

Along with being installed on over 10 million unique devices, Monument Valley saw more than 500,000 users upgrade to the Forgotten Shores expansion. The majority of purchasers are iOS, which constitutes 81.7 percent of total sales, followed by Google Play at 13.9 percent and Amazon at 4.3 percent. The game’s highest single day revenue was at launch with $145,530 in revenue obtained.

Monument Valley was first released in 2014 and garnered plenty of critical acclaim for its art style, tone, puzzles and overall quality. It was arguably the best mobile title of last year. Have you managed to play it? Let us know what you think of it in the comments along with your thoughts on its success.
