The game’s official Steam page has gone live, which you can see here. Unfortunately, there isn’t much more news than that and there is also a lack of timeframe for when to expect this PC port to come. For now, it also seems there isn’t any announced plans for other platforms. If you aren’t familiar with the game, it follows a young boy who is sucked into his favorite video game, and instead of fighting monsters, he must win them over with love and friendship after they have been slain by the game’s ‘hero.’

Moon: Remix RPG Adventure is available now on Nintendo Switch. We’ll keep you updated on when we know more about the PC release.

Last year, we got the announcement that the infamous ‘anti-RPG’ Moon would finally be coming to the states via a Switch remake. We hadn’t heard anything since then, but now we finally got a date for when those in the west can finally get the game, and it’s very soon.

As announced by publisher and developer Onion Games, a new trailer came along to tell us that the title will release next month. The game is often cited as an “anti-RPG,” because you play as a boy sucked into a RPG world and must use love, instead of violence, against monsters in an attempt to heal the world. The original release was in 1997 for the PlayStation, and this remake marks the first time since that initial release that the game has been available, and the first time the game will release outside Japan.

Moon: Remix RPG Adventure has been out on the Switch in Japan since October of last year, but will come westward August 27th exclusively on the Switch.

There’s been a lot of surprises over the last few years in the gaming world. IPs once thought dead have seen successful revivals, the revival of midrange games and developers and all kinds of experimentation being rewarded. One of the most surprising things, in my book, is the absolutely out of nowhere announcement of a Switch port of Moon: Remix RPG Adventure. And it’s finally getting to come westward.

The original game was released way back in 1997 for the original PlayStation. Described as an “anti-RPG,” the game follows a young boy who is sucked into a RPG video game (also titled Moon), and subverts many aspects of the genre, such as battling creatures through “love” over weapons.

The original title was planned to come outside Japan, but it never materialized. 22 years later, developer Onion Games confirmed the game would finally get its day outside Japan via an interview with Gematsu. The Japanese version of the game will come out October 10th with no date attached to the western version yet. Keep your eyes open, as it’s an interesting part of gaming history that’s finally coming outside its homeland.
