State of Decay dev's online Pokemon title runs into issues.

State of Decay developer Undead Labs’ early access title Moonrise is shutting down on December 31st 2015. The game entered Steam Early Access roughly four months ago and it seems to have become too costly for the studio in the long run.

As company founder Jeff Strain wrote, “What we’ve found is that while some people really love Moonrise, there were unfortunately many more people who played the game and then moved on after a few days.

“For a standalone, offline game that might be fine; but for an online game with significant server hosting costs and an expectation for ongoing development and new content, it can mean a game that not only doesn’t pay for it’s development costs, but might even cost money to operate.”

This is particularly sad news especially for those invested in the game since, despite its free to play nature, you can buy two special editions for a discount on in-game items. Undead Labs is still working on Class4, an Xbox One and PC MMO in the vein of State of Decay, but what are your thoughts on Moonrise shutting down? Let us know in the comments.

State of Decay dev's next game is a collectible card/fighting game hybrid with RPG progression systems.

State of Decay developer Undead Labs has unveiled their newest project and it’s not quite what we expected. Moonrise is a real time creature fighter which will be entering Steam Early Access on May 27th for PC and Mac. The game seeks to combine collectible card game mechanics with fighting game competitive, combining strategy and brawling into one package.

Players will take on both AI opponents and real players with Solari, teams of creatures that have their skill sets to customize and which can be leveled up in various ways. This means numerous creature builds for a variety of styles. The game has been in closed beta since March and the Early Access release will serve to polish the core systems further.

Studio founder Jeff Strain stated that “Early Access has become an invaluable part of the development process and we’re incredibly excited to let the Steam community come in and kick the tires on Moonrise. When you need honest feedback from dedicated gamers, there’s no better community than Steam and I look forward to hearing what they have to say.”

Players can pay for two premium bundles – $14.99 and $19.99 – which both offer Early Access, two exclusive Solari skins and premium in-game content with the latter package offering a bit more. Stay tuned for more information on the game in the coming weeks.

It's a brand new RPG...

… for mobiles.

Yes, that was extremely anticlimactic, but it is what it is.

Undead Labs, the folks known for the excellent zombie shooter, State of Decay, that came to the Xbox 360 and PC last year, have announced their new game, and if you were expecting for something awesome that would follow in State of Decay’s footsteps, maybe for the Xbox One, well, then this will be a bit of a letdown for you.

You see, their new game in a new RPG. It’s called Moonrise. it is coming for mobiles.

If that’s not bad enough, then it is being released in association with Kabam games, who describe themselves as the leaders of free to play mobile gaming in the west.

This is terrible.

“We are thrilled to partner with Undead Labs. They are a veteran team that has worked on some of the greatest game franchises of all time,” said Aaron Loeb, senior vice president of Kabam’s North American Studios. “Their new creation, Moonrise, will bring a truly next generation mobile experience to gamers around the world.”

“We’re a gamer-focused studio with a great console pedigree,” said Undead Labs’ Jeff Strain. “And Kabam is a world-class publisher focused on delivering console-quality games on mobile devices. It’s a perfect match.”

Well, I guess we’ll be keeping you posted on this game as well. Stay tuned.
