Mortal Kombat has become one of the most successful and influential fighting franchises in the history of video games, and why not? The game has sold millions of copies over the past decade or so and even though parental figures and conservative groups’ hate towards this game, there is no denying that the game is so addictive and satisfying. Over the years, the franchise finishing moves have created a series of graphic violence that very few games can equal. With that said here are some of the bloodiest, and some of the most gruesome fatalities of the Mortal Kombat series.

Reptile’s Acid Yak Fatality

This video gives a whole new meaning to painful. Reptile may be a favorite character to the player but one of the fun fact is that Reptile  is one of the few original characters, debuting in the original Mortal Kombat arcade game as a secret character. One of his more gruesome fatalities include but not limited to, ripping out his opponent’s stomach after spitting acid down his throat. Like I said very, very painful.

Warner Bros. Interactive today announced that Mortal Kombat has sold over three million units worldwide, making it the highest-selling fighting game this year.

“We are very pleased with the success of Mortal Kombat, as it surpassed our expectations in becoming the #1 fighting game in North America released so far this year,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “NetherRealm Studios delivered a high quality game which has exceeded our sales goals. Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios have released a new video outlining  Freddy Krueger’s entrance in to Mortal Kombat.

Featuring a complete move-set, an arcade ladder story ending and two brutal fatalities, Freddy will  be available on Microsoft Xbox LIVE for 400 Microsoft Points or for download as part of the Microsoft Season Pass. He will also be available for £3.19 on PlayStation Network or as part of the newly released “Mortal Kombat DLC Warrior Bundle” where all four DLC characters can be purchased for £8.99.

Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios announce that Rain is available for download on Xbox Live and will be available for download on the PSN  on July 20^th.

Rain is available on Xbox Live for 400 Microsoft Points or for download as a part of the Season Pass program or for £3.19/3.95 euros on PlayStation Network. Available today is a free compatibility pack featuring two klassic skins –Mortal Kombat 2 – inspired Jade and Kitana.

Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios have announced the Mortal Kombat Season Pass which will offer players an incentive to buy all four new Add-on warriors at one time for a reduced price instead of when purchasing them individually.

The first Mortal Kombat downloadable warrior, Skarlet, will be available for download starting June 21st and will be followed by Kenshi, Rain, and an unannounced new entrant to the Mortal Kombat tournament,

Each warrior will come with a full move set, a ladder arcade story ending and two fatalities.

Warner Bros and NetherRealm Studios have unveiled the first DLC for the recently released Mortal Kombat. The first downloadable pack offers gamers a chance to get all of the pre-order content in one set. The collection consists of seven pre-order klassic character skins for Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Ermac, Mileena, Jade and Kitana and klassic fatalities for Reptile, Scorpion and Sub-Zero. The pack will be available starting June 7^th on Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade for 400 Microsoft Points or £3.19 on PlayStation Network.
