Originally released in 1996, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is essentially the final release of Mortal Kombat 3, which includes all the characters and stages from Mortal Kombat 1 and 2.

According to early user reviews of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, the game runs quite well on modern systems, albeit with a few minor visual glitches in some stages when played in Windowed Mode.

NetherRealm Games is currently said to be working on a new Mortal Kombat game. While the studio is yet to many an official announcement, the actor for Johnny Cage has been teasing Mortal Kombat 12.

The studio was also expected to announce something at Evo 2022 leading up to the event, but then announced that it won’t be making any new announcements at the tournament.

Rumours also indicate that Mortal Kombat 12 will see the return of Reiko.

The petition states that the studio previously reached out to Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon who was supportive of the project, although Warner Bros. turned down the pitch as it believed that the game wouldn’t sell enough copies (100,000 as per what’s mentioned in the petition) to recoup marketing costs for the project.

The original Mortal Kombat Trilogy release packed all of the characters from Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, Mortal Kombat 3, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 into a single package. Eyeballistic aims to soup up the game for modern platforms using Unreal Engine 5 and upscale the original’s sprites and environments to 4K. The developer will also make improvements to the music as well, as well as online functionality.

Eyeballistic is aiming to reach a 100,000 signatures before reaching out to Warner Bros. again with a pitch to use crowdfunding to procure development costs for the game.

“We’re planning to painstakingly recreate every detail of every stage and character in glorious 3D,” Eyeballistic writes in the petition. “Of course every fatality, brutality, friendship and animality will be there too. The characters and stages will get a face lift to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second gameplay action through the power of Unreal Engine 5. We’ll even remake all of the music by giving it a modern cinematic sound that incorporates real instruments.

“Target platforms for release would be Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, PS5 and PC. We anticipate the game would cost $39.99 and it would include everything the original MK Trilogy had plus the standard online match making and world wide leaderboards. If you want this remake to happen, please show your support by signing the petition. When we reach 100,000 supporters we’ll approach WB with a plan to use crowdfunding to further demonstrate that the game will sell like crazy!”

The studio also provided screenshot samples of the project to DSO Gaming, which, while not the most palatable, are certainly an improvement over the original. You can check them out below.

Ferra and Torr

One, or rather two, of the most bizarre fighters in the franchise, Ferra and Torr were bodyguards for Kotal Kahn in Mortal Kombat X. While Torr is the muscle, possessing exceptional power, Ferra is a quick and agile warrior. They’re essentially a symbiotic duo and serve as an incredibly interesting combat option but ultimately, they would be set aside after being defeated by Sub-Zero.

With Mortal Kombat 11 getting close, it’s interesting to think to the long-running series’ past. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of access to it at this point. While in the past the original titles have seen re-release, the most recent being the Mortal Kombat Arcade Collection for PS3 and 360, which featured the original trilogy, the series has largely not seen many re-releases beyond that (any games post MK3 have seen no HD remasters for current hardware or PC). That was going to change at one point, because it seems Blind Squirrel Games was working on a remastering of the original trilogy.

Concept and UI artist Danny Huynh recently updated some art of the nixed collection to his Art Station and identified the game simply as Mortal Kombat Remastered that would have featured new remasters of the original trilogy (it was renamed from Mortal Kombat Kollection at some point). He’s since deleted his screens, as well as what he said about the game, but DSO Gaming have archived it all.

Nothing was said about platforms, but from the screens we can see they had plans for a Krypt feature, as well as an XP system of some kind. It’s interesting to think what could have been, checking out the gallery below. We may not be able to look to game’s past, but the future is almost here, with Mortal Kombat 11 releasing April 23^rd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Of course, we’re not just talking about a single loading screen that stretches for too long. This can also apply to a game that simply bombards you with loading screens at every turn, adding up to an experience that’s more loading than actual gameplay. Let’s take a look at 15 such games that are notorious for this. And remember: They may or may not have been patched since release so beware.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3

One of the most recent examples of horrid loading times is CI Games’ Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3. The game was criticized for taking an inordinate amount of time to even load the first level. Eurogamer showcased how it’s possible to complete one race in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, some speedruns in Gone Home and  casual Pokemon GO in the time it takes to load one level in Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3.
