"No plans for a Halo motion picture at this time".

Following rumours that director Ridley Scott was working on a motion picture based on the ever popular Halo series, Microsoft has clarified that yet again, there are no plans for the same any time soon.

In a statement to Eurogamer, the company stated, “We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time.

“The Halo franchise encompasses many elements, including games, action figures, novels and more. As always, we have many projects in the works that offer us the opportunity to bring in new audiences to the franchise, as we did in the past with Halo Legends and Halo: Forward Unto Dawn.”

There’s also Halo: The Television Series, which is one of the few Xbox-exclusive TV shows expected to be unveiled in the coming months. Of course, it could be that Microsoft is struggling to plug any leaks and work is currently progressing on the Halo movie. We’ll be content to wait and watch either way.

Video games being adapted into movies is likely to never lose steam as a trend, especially given the relative success some franchises have had in the past (not to mention the renewed efforts from studios such as Ubisoft). From Zelda director Eiji Aonuma’s perspective though, a Zelda movie, if it ever happened, would have to be somewhat interactive and not at all like a typical movie.

In conversation with Kotaku, Aonuma stated that, “This is something that me and Mr. Miyamoto talked about. If we were to make a Zelda title, if we had interest in doing that, I think really what would be most important to us is to be able to play with the format of a movie, make it more interactive, like you’re able to take your 3DS into the theater and that leads you into participating in it somehow.

“We wouldn’t want to make it the same as any other movie. We want to somehow change what a movie is.”

Does that somehow make sense or does it sound like a concept better left alone? Let us know in the comments below.

Another movie, another movie-licensed video-game trailer and this time it’s Pacific Rim. Pacific Rim is a film about giant monsters and robots fighting each other while causing chaos and horror to humanity on earth. While the movie seems to be receiving incredible reviews, the video-game portion looks a tad disappointing judging from what we’ve seen in the trailer and rather underwhelming. However, this is not a real surprise since the majority of movie-licensed games tend to suck for the most part.

Have a peek at the trailer down below.

Pacific Rim: The Videogame will be coming on July 12th for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360.

Let us know what you think of the trailer in the comments section down below.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more news and updates.

Gears of War movie may now become a reality due to a fact that the film adaptation has been given a new leave. Ted’s Scott Stuber is confirmed as the producer for the Gears of War film.

Stuber will be responsible for working on the script with Epic Games, meanwhile, no one else has been confirmed to be working on the film at the moment according to a Variety report.

Originally New Line Cinema were getting ready to produce back in 2007, that didn’t happen due to Epic having different creative ideas and this ended up bringing this movie on a long break.

Stuber is well known for producing comedy and action drama films such as Ted, Battleship and Identity Thief.

Get ready folks, Gears of War might be going big screen sometime in the next few years! Stay tuned on GamingBolt for more news regarding the Gears of War film adaptation and future of the franchise. Leave any comments down below in the comments section.

Mortal Kombat is coming to the big screen, but don’t be surprised because there were already two movies made earlier. Warner Bros.
Their videogame venture was highly successful selling 3 million copies in a short time.

“It’s really important that we show we can bring our game properties to movies instead of just the other way around,” said Warner home entertainment President Kevin Tsujihara.

The last two movies were released in 1995 and 1997 respectively. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

The film is an April Fools joke, but the game is for real.

Dungeon Defenders is a game coming to Xbox Live Arcade, the Playstation Network NPG(PSP2) and PC. There is a version of the game called ‘First Wave’ that’s out for the iPad as well as the Android but this arcade game simply entitled ‘Dungeon Defenders’ is not even out yet and Reverb has confirmed that it will have its own film adaption call ‘The Sixth Defense’ staring Bruce Willis until you read the fine print of the press release. Dungeon Defenders is a tower defense, online action-RPG all in one that lets players choose one of four distinctive hero classes. In the game you will be able to upgrade stats, gather loot, customize and upgrade equipment as well as develop unique class abilities. The best part about it is that it is 4 player co-op, online and offline coming out sometime this year. Since the supposed movie adaptation ‘The Sixth Defense’ is premiering Summer 2011, the game should not be too far away from release on consoles and PC. Check out the site for more here and the facebook page here. Full press release below.

Twain Harte, California – April 1, 2011 – M. Night Shyamalan, the auteur behind such high-brow classics as Lady In The Water, The Village and The Last Airbender, announced today that he has cast legendary Hollywood front-man and action stud Bruce Willis as the lead role in the director’s upcoming opus, The Sixth Defense, which will be based upon the soon-to-launch XBLA, PSN, and PC title Dungeon Defenders. The highly-coveted role was the talk of Tinsel Town today, including tweets from industry titans like George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Paul Reubens all expressing interest in working on the project.

The casting of Willis follows on the heels of news that Shyamalan will not be working with William Hurt on this next project, confirming that Hurt will not make an appearance in The Sixth Defense.

“I’m digging deep with this project, trying to bridge the gap between Plato and Spielberg. I think I’ve found my lynchpin in Willis,” quipped Shyamalan on the Dungeon Defenders set. “It one of the best movies not starring William Hurt this year!”

Hurt declined to comment.

The upcoming Dungeon Defenders game is an original hybrid of two hot genres: tower defense and cooperative online action-RPG! The game puts players in the role of one of four distinctive hero classes, tasked with fending off hordes of invading beasties by strategically summoning a variety of defenses & traps throughout their castle. But as much more than just a strategy game, players directly participate in the action-packed combat with their hero characters, while upgrading their statistics, gathering tons of loot and inventory items, customizing & upgrading equipment, and developing unique class abilities. All of this can be enjoyed in seamless online and split-screen local multiplayer, as players cooperate and compete through the story campaign and challenge missions to build the strongest heroes and achieve the highest scores in the kingdom.

The Sixth Defense is premiering Summer 2011, but an exact release date is subject to change.
Composer Marty O’Donnell, famous for his work on the Halo franchise, said in an interview with Industry Gamers: “I would love to score the Halo movie. No doubt about it. I think that would be great,” though he feels the chances of actually being asked are slim. “I would be surprised,” he went on, “I feel like, knowing Hollywood just a little bit, they would most likely say, ‘We have to have a tried and true Hollywood composer’ and ‘These themes are appropriate for games but not appropriate for movies.’ Or something like that. That’s sort of what I’m expecting. I have a hard time believing that they wouldn’t hint at some theme that I wrote at some point in the movie. But I would certainly answer the phone if somebody called – Spielberg or whoever it might be.”

O’Donnell went on to say that video game and film composers require the same skill set, so the Hollywood stance is unfounded: “I came from the linear media and I took some scores out of Chicago and did tons of commercials and had a whole other career. I think artistically and aesthetically scoring for games is harder. It’s technically harder. In my opinion, you have to have all the same chops that you have for linear media and then you have this other added technical and artistic vision to make it adaptive and interactive and all the rest. So I think it’s actually harder, more complex, more interesting. I love music for games and I love what people have done with music for games and it just keeps getting better and better all the time. And – I might be wrong about this – but I think in the general public, in the populous, the respect for music for games has risen to a really nice, high level. I think Hollywood is sort of an insular place and their friends hire their friends and people that they’re comfortable with. If they’re spending $200 million dollars on some giant blockbuster film, you’re going to get a big name person usually. The exception to that rule I think is when Brad Bird hired Michael Giacchino to do The Incredibles. Michael had done a lot of TV work and some game work. Brad, I think, is one of those spectacularly cool, creative ‘unHollywood’ guys.”
