Activision’s Skylanders Swap Force recently debuted in third place, as Nintendo’s Pokemon X & Y dropped to fourth and fifth place respectively. That hasn’t stopped the 3DS adventure from becoming the fastest selling 3DS title of all time though, and it’s safe to say that it’ll be in the top 10 for a while.

Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls is in at sixth place, while Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is at seventh. F1 2013 is in at eight place despite a strong debut last week, with Just Dance 2014 in at ninth and Disney Infinity at tenth place to round out the top 10.

Pacther expects that the Nintendo Wii U will have sold 30,000 units, being down by 29 percent month-over-month (compared to the Wii’s 35,000 units). He also believes that price cuts and bundles will be the order of the day as the holiday season rolls around.

“We expect the prices for the PS3 and Xbox 360 to drop by at least $50, with the Wii dropping to $99. Nintendo may look to spur Wii U sales through either a price drop of $50 or a bundle that includes some of its more popular software, particularly if an improved release slate doesn’t spur console sales.”

Pachter also predicts that games like Animal Crossing: New Leaf, NCAA Football 14, The Last of Us and Minecraft will be leading the sales charge in the NPD report.

However, for the three months till June 30th, the publisher saw a 37 percent year-over-year drop in sales, down $142.7 million. There has been a net loss of $61.9 million, which is still less than the $110.8 million loss in the previous year’s quarter. Of course, given how the publisher hasn’t had any new releases compared to the previous year’s first quarter, which had Max Payne 3 and Spec Ops: The Line.

Sales were largely due to games such as Borderlands 2 and is DLC packs, NBA 2K13, Grand Theft Auto IV, and BioShock Infinite with digital download sales accounting for 52 percent of revenue and catalog sales making up 60 percent.

Interestingly, there was $29.6 million impairment for development on a 2K Games title, which hasn’t been revealed as of yet. Maybe due to the reboot of The Bureau: XCOM Declassified? Regardless, with the release of Grand Theft Auto V this September, Take Two’s woes won’t last for long.

However, Watch_Dogs will be selling around 70 percent of Black Ops 2, with Grand Theft Auto V selling a bit over 58 percent of it. Creutz stated that GTA V’s pre-order number “almost certainly understates total pre-orders to-date, since we have only been tracking the Amazon data since E3 but GTA V was initially available for pre-order all the way back in November 2012.”

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Battlefield 4 have higher numbers than previous games in both series, and even Blizzard’s Diablo III looks poised for a decent reign with 1.5 million copies projected for sale this year. Meanwhile, 2K Marin’s The Bureau: XCOM Declassified hasn’t been able to generate much by way of pre-order numbers and Creutz expects it to sell less 250,000 copies by 2013 end.

FIFA 14 producer Sebastian Enrique stated that “it is something we have talked about but there are no plans at the moment”. For the game to feature female players, “there are lots of things we would have to change though, like the physics would be different, it would affect collisions. There are lot of things that are involved”, which includes “new models and hair styles”.

Fernanda Schabarum started the petition, stating that FIFA is “one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time” but “none of the FIFA games has an option for women’s teams or female players”. She found that it didn’t make sense given how 47% of all players are women while “40% of soccer players in the US are girls”.

This isn’t the first time that a major developer refused to allow women in their games but times are quickly a’changing with even the Battlefield and Call of Duty series featuring female soldiers. Maybe next year perhaps for FIFA?

Because for all the criticism, it remains one of the most solid Sonic franchises of all time, if not a great example how to transition the blue blur into 3D. Several years on, news has emerged of domains registered for Sonic Adventure 3.

The domains in question – sonicadventure3.com, sonicadventure3.net, sonicadventure3.org, sonicadventure3.info, sonicadventure3.fr, sonicadventure3.eu – hold no connection to Sega currently. A French division, 1 & 1 Internet, registered the domains.

And while it may seem like a reach, it bears mentioning that EuroDNS registered domains for Sonic Generations, Sonic Free Riders and the Sonic the Hedgehog 4, all which turned out to be real.
