The RPG adaptation finally heads to the West.

Besides Pirate Warriors 2, the Mugiwara Pirates will be running wild on the Nintendo 3DS as well, as Namco Bandai Games Europe announces that One Piece: Romance Dawn will be heading to the handheld in the West.

Namco Bandai Games Europe Senior Vice President Olivier Comte stated that, “The One Piece games continue to seduce fans across Europe, One Piece: Romance Dawn brings a full new experience as the very first One Piece RPG to stay faithful to the masterpiece. As a leading anime license, One Piece is celebrated all over the world. Moreover, One Piece: Romance Dawn will give you the opportunity to be a hero in a super exciting adventure, as a fan, you can’t miss it!”

Unlike Pirate Warriors, Romance Dawn is an RPG in which players will be able to play as Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji and many more, facing off against bosses like Buggy, Arlong, Crocodile and Rob Lucci besides travelling to areas like Arlong Park and Baratie.

There will be “Grand Tactical Battles” – which we assume is a fancier term for QTEs in battles – and “Grand Chain” attacks for connecting numerous Special Attacks in sequence.

Namco Bandai has announced that it has fully integrated the distribution network of Namco Bandai Games Europe. This means that distribution and publishing have now been merged into one company, which has resulted in the consolidation of both into a single name and brand logo.

Regarding the integration of both companies, president of Namco Bandai Games Europe Shusuke Takahara recently stated, “The group of companies’ new names will encompass the full dimension from both Publishing and Distribution to develop European business further and reinforce the organization in one unified team behind our logo. This name unification is the final outcome of the subsidiaries integration, concluding the full process.”

Currently Namco Bandai has a strong line-up of games ready for this year. The company recently released Project X Zone – a crossover fighting game featuring characters from Capcom, Namco Bandai and Sega – for the Nintendo 3DS in the United States with a European release coming soon.
