Battlefield 4: Naval Strike is now available for Premium subscribers across both current and next gen platforms, even with a delay for the Xbox One and PC releases. Despite updates launched to prep gamers for the same, it seems a new bug has emerged in the game that results in Attack Boat pilots being murdered without taking direct fire.

As indicated in the above video, TV missiles indicate the shells unleashed by the gunners which subsequently are destroyed by opposing fire. However, the damage is somehow transferred to the player piloting the boat when opposing fire hits the missiles rather than the shells.

It’s an odd bug to be sure, especially when you consider the circumstances required to pull it off. Regardless, it isn’t the first time we’re seeing bugs in Battlefield 4 and there seem to be many more where that came from. Battlefield 4: Naval Strike is finally available for Premium subscribers on PC after a week long delay and much like the Xbox One version, DICE released a patch for the DLC.

The patch helps improve general stability while correcting the same issues that plagued the Xbox One version – namely kill cams showing the wrong killer, weapons firing twice or not at all, issues that caused packet loss and more. There’s also a fix for players who were seemingly catapulted when walking on steep surfaces, along with a fix for that infamous bug that caused the quad bike to explode if it hit any indestructible objects.

This is along with the usual weapon tweaks, vehicle tweaks, aircraft tweaks, grenade tweaks and so on. Currently, Battlefield 4: Naval Strike is available on all platforms for Premium subscribers. It will be available to non-subscribers on April 8th. So stay tuned for more details and the next inevitable patch.

DICE has confirmed that Battlefield 4 DLC Naval Strike has begun to roll out for PC users today.

“Battlefield 4 Naval Strike is starting to roll out for Premium members on PC today. We look forward to seeing you on the Battlefield!”

Battlefield 4: Naval Strike released last week for Premium subscribers, save for delays on the Xbox One and PC due to issues that were detected. While the Xbox One version was eventually out two days later, the PC version still remained without an ETA.

Whatever issues that remained seem to have been resolved though. The Xbox One version required a large patch to eventually correct issues with the animation, weapons, the odd crash or two and much more (as has been the case with DICE since Battlefield 4’s release).

Fresh off of delaying the PC version of Battlefield 4’s DLC Naval Strike, DICE has announced that the Xbox One version has been delayed too. Because of course it has.

Announcing the same on Battlelog, DICE said that, “We wanted to provide more detail about the delay of Battlefield 4 Naval Strike. We have delayed the PC version of Naval Strike because we are concerned that the combination of the pack and planned PC updates would increase performance issues on mid-range to high-end PCs. We are working hard to resolve that issue now.

“Additionally, we have decided to delay the Xbox One version of Naval Strike because we want to address issues in the animation system that hinder players from engaging targets in set circumstances using popular weapon configurations. We know that many Battlefield 4 Premium owners wanted to play Naval Strike today. However, we didn’t want to release the new content until we believed it was quality content.”

As of now, the developer is offering an early April release but no concrete details have surfaced. Best laid plans of men and mice, as they say.

DICE has released a new teaser for Battlefield 4’s upcoming DLC, Naval Strike, and while short, we do catch flashes of the main attraction in the expansion, namely Carrier Assault. A full trailer will be dropping on March 19th.

Carrier Assault is a re-imagining of Battlefield 2142’s Titan Mode wherein two teams will face off to destroy the other’s carrier. There’s plenty of pre-planning to be done – the assault itself takes place at sea, wherein players will need to master the new Hovercraft and other new weapons to get the drop on their foes. Four new maps will round out the sea-faring package and give you enormous amounts of water to traverse.

Battlefield 4: Naval Strike will be available on March 18th to Premium subscribers – normal users will need to wait a while longer as the DLC releases in late March for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC. The question is: Will it be relatively bug-free? We’ll find out in the coming weeks.

Battlefield 4 will finally be receiving a new DLC package with Naval Strike which seeks to emphasize water warfare and introduces new vehicles, weapons and maps to that effect. The four new maps in question have been leaked along with images for awards and assignments in the game. Check out the maps below.

As you’ll be able to see, there’s a lot of empty space in pretty much all the maps. That’s all water – you’ll have to hunt for your foes in the ocean. The usage of water will be most apparent in the Carrier Assault mode, which sees the Titan mode from Battlefield 2142 remade for Battlefield 4.

Titan mode, a cult-favourite mode from Battlefield 2142, is making a return as Carrier Assault in Battlefield 4: Naval Strike. While the treatment is a bit different – there aren’t any floating bases or shield generators to target – the core purpose of assaulting the other team’s craft is still the same.

Lead gameplay designer Gustav Halling explained the gameplay in a new Battlelog post: “There are two ways of destroying the enemy carrier: either by full map control or assaulting the carrier as infantry. Each round is divided into 2 stages, starting with map control and ending with carrier attack.

“Both teams start on their own carrier and race to control the missile launchers placed on the map, by capturing the control points near them. This will automatically launch missiles towards the enemy carrier throughout the round, eventually destroying its hull and making it open for infantry attacks.

“When this happens for one or both teams, the carrier assault state is started. The team can then either drive a boat out to the carrier and climb aboard, or use the parachute spawn points above it. Once inside, the team must destroy two M-COM stations, which will open up new areas to the carrier, with the engine room being the final one. Destroying the two M-COM’s, or bringing down the carrier hull’s health to 0%, will win the match for your team.”

Battlefield 4: Naval Strike is scheduled to release in late March for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC. Premium users will receive the game ahead of its release.

Thanks to the recent PS4 update for DICE’s Battlefield 4, the weapons for the upcoming Naval Strike DLC has been prematurely confirmed.

The new guns in the game are the AR160 (Assault), SR-2 (Engineer), AWS (Support), SR338 (Recon) and SW40 (All-Kit), which range from machine-guns to semi-automatics and revolvers. Meanwhile, the Assault class receives the M320 3GL which can shoot three 40mm grenades for handling multiple targets and the Engineer gets the Anti-Air Mine for murdering flying vehicles nearby.

There’s also an assortment of knives, including the Dive for underwater combat; the Tactical knife for an extended blade; the BJ-2; and the Precision, which is a lightweight knife. Knives are very handy for stealing enemy dog-tags and also for brutal wanton murder so load up and let loose.

Naval Strike will be releasing in late March for Battlefield 4 though as usual, Premium members will receive the DLC first. Stay tuned for more details.

Though we know it’s planned for a “late March” release and will feature four new maps, there’s still plenty left to find out about Battlefield 4‘s next DLC pack, Naval Strike. Some new images further illustrate that, and you can check them out below.

Firstly, about the new maps: Lost Islands sees you fighting through a wrecked passenger plane and waging war across fishing villages; Wave Breaker is about infiltrating a naval base and navigating shipping docks; Nansha Strike has you fighting the elements of nature as massive storms hit a large ocean stretch (the largest in Battlefield by far); and finally, visit an abandoned resort on a cliff in Operation Mortar.

Details are still lacking about Carrier Assault, which re-imagines the Titan mode from Battlefield 2142 but DICE promises new information shortly. Naval Strike will be available two weeks prior to its late March release to Premium subscribers, so sign up if you want it early.

DICE is still working to correct any issues with Battlefield 4’s multiplayer but at least it’s now able to focus on bringing out DLC for consumers again. The next DLC to arrive for the game will be Naval Strike and it’s been confirmed for a “late March” release.

Naval Strike will have new maps, namely Lost Islands, Operation Mortar, Nansha Strike and Wave Breaker; two new gadgets and five new weapons; a hovercraft; and ten new assignments. More importantly, it will feature the return of Tita, a cult favourite multiplayer mode from Battlefield 2142 which has been renamed to Carrier Assault. It seems 64 players will now work to disable a carrier’s defenses before heading inside to dismantle it, but we’ll need to play to confirm.

Rumours indicate that Naval Strike will release on March 18th for Battlefield 4 but stay tuned in the coming weeks to see just how late of a late March release it could be.
