This will be the first time the series has featured premium Fatalities since Mortal Kombat 2011's Klassic Fatality packs.

Mortal Kombat 1 released last month to some great reviews, and while fans are generally having a great time with the game, not every decision has been met with a positive response. A recent update to the game had a patch note stating, “Halloween Fatality added to the Premium Store”, but no such Fatalities were found within the game itself.

However, Warner Bros. Games has now tweeted out that premium Fatalities will indeed be a thing and that Halloween-themed Fatalities will be coming to the premium store on October 27th. This will be the first time for the series to charge real-world money for Fatalities since MK 2011‘s Klassic Fatality Packs, and fans aren’t obviously happy about it.

Plenty of fans have taken to social media to express their disdain on the matter, but it doesn’t seem that the developer will be walking back on its decision as of now. Of course, it’s possible that things might change, and we’ll keep you updated accordingly.

Hi, thanks for this question about MK1! The Halloween Fatality will be featured in the Premium Shop at a later date, we expect this to be Friday (10/27). Please keep an eye on official Mortal Kombat social media for any news on this topic!

NetherRealm Studios makes some of the best selling, most loved games on the market—and it does so while making fighting games, a genre that is otherwise famously hard to crack with the mainstream market. The studio has had the privilege of working on Mortal Kombat, but also DC properties, thanks to Injustice.

And apparently, they also considered making a fighting game based on Marvel properties once, as NetherRealm’s Ed Boon revealed in a rapid-fire interview with Game Informer.

“We would love to make like a Marvel fighting game, or Marvel vs. DC I think would be the coolest,” Boon said, though he also sheepishly added that he “probably shouldn’t talk about it”.

A Marvel vs DC game would obviously be the dream, and would end all fanboy wars in one fell swoop (though the licensing quagmire it would be is a nightmare to even imagine). But even a regular Marvel fighting game made in the style of Mortal Kombat and Injustice would be amazing to see.

It seems like it may not be happening, since if it was, you’d assume Boon would be under contractual obligations to not mention it prior to an official announcement. For now, all we can do is dream about it.

A complete video walkthrough for Injustice 2.

Injustice was one of the rare video games where you actually could care about the story. With Nether Realm Studios being among the few among fighting game developers who can craft compelling single player content, including story modes, and with the fantastic utilization of the DC Comics mythos, the original Injustice‘s story mode was actually pretty compelling.

The same is also true of Injustice 2, which came out earlier this week. Its excellent story mode continues the story of the rebellion against Superman’s reign of tyranny, with Batman leading the charge to overthrow him. If you want to play through this story mode, and need help, you will need a walkthrough. Thankfully, we have one for you. Just be mindful that it has spoilers, so make sure not to skip too far ahead of where you are. The story is no fun if you already know everything, after all, is it?
