In Fading Echo, players take on the role of a young Legend in the floating islands of Corel. The player is on a quest to discover her past, and also take on enemies that might cast doubt on her future.

Along with hack-and-slash action, one of the core gameplay mechanics in Fading Echo will be the protagonist’s ability to turn into a blob of water. Along with using this ability for platforming and navigating through obstacles like gates, the blob of water can also take on different properties, like going into lava to turn into steam to then get the ability to float for a while.

Fading Echo doesn’t yet have a release date, but it is coming soon to PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

New Tales has been formed by veterans of the industry who have a long history of producing games at Ubisoft, Blizzard, SEGA, Activision, and others. Founders include Cedric Marechal (president and CEO, ex-Blizzard and Sega), Benoit Dufour (CEO, ex-Blizzard), Delphine Le Corre (CGO, ex-Blizzard), Emmanuel Obert (CCO, ex-Blizzard and Ubisoft), Kim Gresko (senior adviser game development, ex-LucasArts), Ray Gresko (senior adviser game development, ex-Blizzard), and Julia Hamphrey (also senior adviser game development, ex-Blizzard).

Details on the studio’s first game remain scant for now, although the press release has confirmed that it is currently working on developing its production pipeline for a new IP. It’s also been mentioned that New Tales is already working with partners for new publishing opportunies.
