Splatoon 3 sold over 120,000 units in Japan over the course of the week, while the Switch version of NieR: Automata sold 30,000 units on its debut.

Famitsu has released its latest data for physical software and hardware sales in Japan, and unsurprisingly, Splatoon 3 has topped the charts for the fifth week in a row since its launch. The game accounted for nearly 70% of all physical game sales in Japan in September with over 2.7 million units sold at retail, and clearly, it’s carried its momentum forward into October as well.

In second place we have a new release with NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition, which finally brings Square Enix’s acclaimed hack-and-slash RPG to the Nintendo Switch. It sold over 30,000 units on its debut. Meanwhile, the likes of Dragon Quest 10 Offline, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Minecraft, and FIFA 23 still continue to figure in the top 10.

On the hardware side of things, the Nintendo Switch is one again the best-selling console, having sold over 62,000 units over the course of last week. Meanwhile, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S have both seen a significant fall in sales after several weeks of decent sales, having moved over 5,000 units and under a thousand units respectively.

You can check out the full software and hardware sales charts for the week ending October 9 below.

One of the more important areas in the hack and slash classic, the Abandoned Factory is the backdrop for many battles and shocking twists.

PlatinumGames’ NieR: Automata may be over five years old, but it’s still compelling. Ahead of its launch on Nintendo Switch with NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition, Square Enix has released a new trailer centered on the Abandoned Factory. Check it out below.

The Abandoned Factory plays a pivotal role in the story. It’s the initial area that 2B and 9S investigate, bringing them face-to-face with several giant machine bosses. Later, its host to a dangerous cult of Machines located deep within. Suffice it to say that if you’re going in blind, there are some spoilers in the trailer that should be avoided.

NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition releases on October 6th for Nintendo Switch. It features the base game, the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC, and the 6C2P4A118680823 DLC, which adds six new costumes, four accessories, and two Pod skins. For more details on the base game, check out our review here.

Overrun by vegetation, the City Ruins are full of interesting sights, from the Resistance's camp to a large cavern underground.

Square Enix’s NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition launches for Nintendo Switch on October 6th. Along with highlighting playable characters like 2B and 9S, a new trailer is available of the City Ruins, one of the major in-game areas. Check it out below.

The City Ruins are, as the name implies, the ruins of an extensive city that have been reclaimed by nature. Along with extensive vegetation, there’s a large, totally innocuous cavern beneath and the Resistance camp where players can interact with various NPCs, vendors, and more. While hostile machines are roaming about, there’s wildlife like moose and boars that can serve as mounts and plough through foes.

Along with the base game and 3C3C1D119440927 DLC, NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition includes an exclusive new DLC called 6C2P4A118680823. This adds six new costumes, two each for 9S, 2B and A2; four accessories, including the White Fox and Black Fox masks; and two pod skins from NieR Re[in]carnation, Mama and Carrier.

Even more gameplay of the Nintendo Switch version, releasing October 6th worldwide, has been showcased in the new trailer.

The critically acclaimed NieR: Automata is coming to Nintendo Switch with NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition. After a trailer that showcased gameplay with 2B, another is available that focuses on 9S. As a support android, 9S can hack into foes and destroy them from within. However, he’s still capable of holding his own in combat.

9S is one of three playable characters in the story and, unlike 2B, tends to be more emotional about matters. In The End of YoRHa Edition, he receives some new exclusive outfits, including a hakama and mask, and a white version of his default attire. Whether the Switch version includes any additional content remains to be seen.

NieR: Automata – The End of YoRHa Edition releases on October 6th for the Nintendo Switch. Along with the base game, it features the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC with new outfits and arena battles. In terms of resolution, it will target 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld mode.
