'You must run. Or hide.'

[HTM1]

Night Cry, the spiritual successor to the cult classic horror game Clock Tower, was announced a few weeks ago, and while we got a suitably creepy teaser to go along with the announcement, this is actually our first look at the game and gameplay proper, and it is sufficiently and appropriately creepy, I gotta say.

It’s an oppressive trailer, and one that promises to fix something that has become all too common of a problem with horror games these days- they are too reliant on action as their primary interaction, and as a result, fail to build up any tension whatsoever.

Night Cry, we are promised, will not be like that- ‘fighting back will get you nowhere,’ the trailer taunts us. ‘You must run, hide, or find something to defend you with.’

Sounds like a more unsettling, psychological kind of horror to me, which is all something I am on board with.

We’ll keep you posted.

Also revealed: the first teaser trailer.

Do you guys remember Clock Tower? You do, right? It was that terrifyingly unsettling point and click horror adventure game series, back in the day. Well, now it is returning. In a manner of speaking. While no Clock Tower 4 has been announced (the Clock Tower IP rests with Capcom, which means that, much like all of their other classic and revered IPs, we will probably never see or hear from it again), we instead have Night Cry, which is being billed as the spiritual successor to Clock Tower.

To ensure that we are sold on this, and are not skeptical that the new game may just be trying to sell itself by riding on the coattails of a pretty popular product from earlier, we also got a thirty second live action teaser trailer that you can see above, with more information promised to us… soon.

Whenever that is, we will have it for you here, so stay tuned.
