Controversies come and go but some of these are simply awe-inspiring in their stupidity.

Controversy and the gaming industry go hand in hand. There’s something controversial popping up seemingly every day, whether it’s for microtransactions, or murder. Still, there are some fairly dumb controversies that have occurred through history that still have us scratching our heads. Let’s take a look at 15 of them here.

Destiny: The Taken King and Emotes

Destiny players can get upset over the weirdest things. In 2015 prior to The Taken King being released, players were annoyed that the newest dances aka Emotes for each subclass were being restricted to the Collector’s Edition. Granted, they hadn’t had new dances in a while but such was the outrage that Bungie actually priced them separately for $20 to appease folk. There was also something director Luke Smith said about throwing money at the screen. Yeah, that didn’t help.

Ghost's voice will be returning.

Bungie has begun promoting Destiny 2, the sequel to its highly successful shared-world shooter, with a worldwide premiere trailer arriving today at 10 AM PST.

While concrete details are still to come about the setting and gameplay, we do know that voice actors from the previous game will be returning. This was evidenced with Nathan Fillion reprising his role as Cayde-6, the Hunter Vanguard.

However, Nolan North – who took over for Peter Dinklage as the voice for Ghost – will be returning as well. Speaking on The ETC Show, North essentially confirmed his involvement. He didn’t specify whether he’d be the Ghost or not but it seems pretty much a given.

Destiny 2 is rumoured to be releasing on September 8th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will reportedly have beta access upon pre-ordering and is outright confirmed to feature PS4-exclusive content till at least Fall 2018. Stay tuned for more information en route to the premiere trailer.

North has long been the go-to voice actor for all sorts video games.

Nolan North is one of the most well known voice actors in video game history. He’s taken on the role of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series and he’s recently joined Destiny as the voice of the little floating robot known as the Ghost. Now the actor is claiming he’s working on a massive, unnamed project for Warner Bros.

Just how big is this project? North sat down with an interview with Grantland and said he believes it will be “another 10 years of my life.” Obviously, Destiny is one of those projects that is supposed to be long running and quite intense, but he’s already signed up for Ghost. This appears to be another project entirely. He wasn’t giving a whole lot of clues beyond that rather cryptic comment. Obviously there are a number of larger projects coming down the pike as we advance in generations for consoles.

Companies are more interested than ever before in having long running series that will rope gamers in for decades. North has put voice to a number of characters in Batman’s Arkham series and Warner Bros. owns the right to that series so perhaps there are going to be more games in that vein. Could there be a Justice League series coming out right around the same time as the movies? Your guess is as good as ours at this point. It seems like we won’t have to wait all that long to get more info, if he’s starting to shed a bit more light about projects he’s started working on.

The voice of Nathan Drake says the game is "already looking pretty good".

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was finally revealed at Sony’s E3 media briefing and amazingly enough, it was in real-time and will target 60 FPS while running in 1080p. We’re not the only ones who think this could be the final chapter – Nolan North, the voice of Nathan Drake, believes this could be the end as well.

Speaking to IGN, North stated that, “It’s bitter-sweet but at a certain point you want to go out on top. If this is the last one indeed, and I believe it’s the last one – nothing’s confirmed, but I believe it’s the last one Naughty Dog wants to do, in which case I hope somebody else doesn’t pick up the mantle because they’ve done it so well for so long – but yeah, it’s one of those things where you just have to cross that bridge when you get to it.

“I like the idea of going out on top so we better do a hell of a job with this one… and it’s already looking pretty good.”

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be out in 2015 for PS4. Will it indeed be the end though, even if it’s only for Nolan North’s role in the series? Stay tuned for more information.
