Hopefully they get Nintendo to add refund options!

Europe is one of the most consumer friendly regimes in the world, so it makes sense that they would be among the first to call someone out on their digital rights policy, were it found lacking. And Nintendo’s is definitely lacking.

Specifically, if you pre-order a game digitally on the Nintendo eShop, you can’t actually get a refund on it from within the store- and this, according to The Norwegian Consumer Council, is not acceptable. It is, in fact, apparently in contravention of EU laws.

“They have to change how they do things,” said Thomas Iversen of the NCC. “They have to follow the rules and clearly show how the consumer can proceed if they want to cancel a pre-order. No matter what their policies are on pre-orders or refunds, the right of withdrawal is always applicable before the game is released.”

I… have to say I agree with them on this. I hope that enough noise is made on this that Nintendo is forced to change its digital right policy going forward. And not just Nintendo, either- everyone offering better digital options to consumers would be something that would be, in the end, greatly appreciated by everyone, I am sure.

We are covering Nordic sales charts now.

In case you spent sleepless nights wondering what game made it to the top spot in the games software charts in Norway, you need to worry no longer- GamingBolt brings you news that Rockstar’s re-release of its crime epic, Grand Theft Auto V, from last year, seems to be dominating the sales charts over in the Scandinavian country.

Overall, the charts are fairly predictable, with Far Cry 2 being #2 (Ubisoft’s other big holiday release, Assassin’s Creed Unity, has plummeted down to #11), with FIFA, Dragon Age, and Call of Duty rounding out the top 5. In case you are wondering about the absence of Nintendo’s latest hits on the chart, they haven’t released in Europe yet. Or, well, they release there today, meaning we may see them chart next week.

But, yes. If you were at all, for any reason whatsoever, wondering about the Nordic sales charts, here you are. Personally, I think they actually look better than the sales charts for many other countries…

The man responsible for mowing down 77 people has testified at a trail today that he trained on video games, more specifically, a game called Modern Warfare 2.

He was also addicted to World of Warcraft which he played up to 16 hours a day. He wasn’t sure about all the targets he was going to bomb, but he had two in mind.

“The first two were clear: the government quarter and the Labour Party headquarters. The third, I was not sure,” he said

“But then I thought: There are not many better targets in Norway.”

Norway does not have the death penalty but Breivik wanted it, and laughed at the idea of going to prison or a mental asylum for his actions.

One thing someone can learn from Modern Warfare 2 is how to spray-and-pray (I kid), other than that, putting the blame on video games for psychopathic actions like these is totally unwarranted.
