A new launch trailer has been released for the gold edition, highlighting the new DLC content.

Capcom had announced a while ago that a Gold Edition of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard would be released which would be the definitive version of the game, containing all of the DLC content, and now it’s here! In light of this, a new trailer has been released to celebrate the release of this new edition.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Gold Edition will include Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Banned Footage Vol. 2 along with the new DLC End of Zoe. The game was originally released back in January of this year and if you hadn’t bought the game back then, this new edition may be worth getting. Finally, the Not a Hero DLC will be available to download for free for all owners of the base game.

End of Zoe will see players play as a woodsman who has to face off against horrific enemies. The story will also reveal how Zoe survived thanks to the help of her uncle, Joe. The trailer itself mostly focuses on the gameplay as Joe who fights enemies using his bare hands. This DLC pack is available to purchase for $14.99. Not a Hero on the other hand will feature Chris Redfield as the protagonist, featuring a first-person shooter style instead of the melee fighting seen in End of Zoe, and this DLC will be available for free.

Things are about to get real messy.

Capcom has promised that the narrative arc of Resident Evil 7 will come to a head in the upcoming Not A Hero and End of Zoe DLCs, which are both slated to launch before the end of this year (as well as a Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition, which will include all the post launch content bundled with the game itself).

Today, they dropped a new trailer for the DLC packs, which you can see for yourself below- but bear in mind that this trailer has spoilers for Resident Evil 7. This is mostly because this trailer also drops some major teases regarding what we can expect to happen narratively and storywise from the new content when it finally launches.

Fans invested in the story of Resident Evil 7 will doubtless appreciate this trailer, which will make the wait for the DLC that much longer for them. They don’t have long to wait- Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition, End of Zoe, and Not a Hero hit PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on December 12.

Chris Redfield has some pretty cool moves in this latest gameplay video.

Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 will finally be receiving its free Not A Hero DLC on December 12th, the same date that the Gold Edition releases. A new gameplay trailer showcases exactly how things will work. In short, if you’ve played the base game, you’ll be used to the first person perspective by now. Check it out below.

This isn’t to say there aren’t new features. Starring Chris Redfield, the DLC has some new weapons, new enemy types and a separate plot. We see Chris exploring the mines and taking on several BOWs while seeking to free his teammate. Along with shooting BOWs, Chris can execute close range finishers and even counter melee attacks. It’s an interesting twist that fits well with Chris’s modus operandi.

Resident Evil 7: Not A Hero will also be available with the Gold Edition along with the End of Zoe DLC. If you’ve been holding out on buying the game, then you might want to wait for the Gold Edition. What are your thoughts on Not A Hero’s gameplay? Let us know below.

Not a hero, not a villain.

Resident Evil 7‘s upcoming Not A Hero DLC sees players take control of series’ protagonist Christ Redfield, after having spent the entire rest of the game controlling newcomer Ethan. The differences between the two characters should, however, still be immediately perceptible to players, even in first person gameplay.

A report by Famitsu (via TheBitBag) mentions how this DLC connects Resident Evil 7 to the rest of the series, with a ‘confrontation’ between the new and old characters being something that is mentioned. As is the norm, Chris will apparently have ore action oriented moves, items, and even general movement- which means that he should control substantially differently from Ethan. If nothing else, this should make for a nice change for players who are used to how Resident Evil 7 has played so far.

Resident Evil 7 is available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Make sure to stay tuned to GamingBolt for all further information and coverage on the game.

Current status "not good enough" for developer.

Capcom’s free DLC for Resident Evil 7, Not A Hero, has been delayed. The development team announced that it will no longer be targeting release in Spring since it “was not good enough to meet” to meet current expectations. This is following the strong critical and commercial praise the game has received since launch.

Not A Hero hasn’t received a new release window but the developer is working on even more DLC. So there is something else to look forward to (though we’re unsure if more free DLC is on the cards).

Spoilers: The free Not A Hero DLC focuses on Chris Redfield who was seen at the end of the base game. Redfield will be starring in his own adventure here, perhaps detailing his involvement with Umbrella.

Have you played Resident Evil 7? What are your thoughts on the free DLC being delayed? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for updates on a new release date.

Get a closer look at Chris Redfield's new look.

If you’ve played Resident Evil 7: Biohazard then you already know that one of the most well-known faces in the franchise Chris Redfield makes an appearance. But what’s he doing there? Those answers will be provided in the upcoming Not A Hero DLC and Capcom has released three new screenshots to offer a better look at Redfield.

Thus far, no information about the DLC has been revealed other than it will be a separate story. One would assume by one of the screens, which involves a villain from Resident Evil 7’s campaign, that Not A Hero will parallel Chris’s actions at the time. Who’s to say? Either way, the DLC is out this Spring for all owners of the game. That’s right – it’s completely free.

What are your thoughts on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, especially the recently released Banned Footage Vol. 1 and 2 DLC? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information.

Check out this month's free titles for PS4, PS3 and Vita.

The free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers in February have finally been confirmed by Sony. These include a whopping five PS4 titles to choose from with the obvious star being LittleBigPlanet 3.

There’s also some rather good indie efforts like Not A Hero and Starwhal. Ninja Senki DX and TorqueL round out the free PS4 titles for this month. They’re also cross-buy for the PlayStation Vita, which means you get them free for the handheld as well. Furthermore, Starwhal will be free on PS3.

PS3 owners have one more free title to look forward to: Anna – Extended Edition which is essentially a psychological horror puzzle game from 2012. It received fairly decent praise from critics at the time.

You can expect the new PlayStation Plus titles to be available once the PlayStation Store updates on February 7th. Until then, pick up January’s free games while you still can. What are your thoughts on February’s titles? Let us know in the comments.

With added content, too.

Last year, Roll7 brought OlliOlli to the Xbox One- this year, they will follow up on that with OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood and Not A Hero, their next two games, out already on PlayStation, finally making their way over to Microsoft’s console.

Both games will come with additional content that makes them the ‘definitive’ versions, too- OlliOlli 2, dubbed the ‘XL Edition’ on the Xbox One, has the a brand new FreeSkate mode that allows players to test their skills and try new moves across five levels- training grounds probably necessary to be able to tackle the kind of precision platforming that OlliOlli 2 demands from the player.

Not A Hero is the Super Snazzy Edition on the Xbox One, meanwhile, and it features three new levels that give players the first opportunity to play as BunnyLord.

You can either pick both games up individually, or you can just pick up a bundle with both of them in it- they will both be available on Xbox One on May 24.

Not A Hero shines in its gameplay but forced humor drags it down.

Not A Hero is as over-the-top as a game can get. Often, it will get on your nerves. Often, you will feel like the game is trying just a little too hard with its supposedly funny dialogue. Often, you will want to skip dialogue altogether. But never will you feel like you’re getting bored, or feel the urge to just stop playing altogether. While the game definitely has its faults in writing and execution of storytelling, it makes up for them with some great shooting mechanics and well-designed levels.

The premise of Not A Hero is not one that demands much investment from you- intellectually or in any other way. BunnyLord is a rabbit from the future who has travelled to the present day, and he’s convinced that he must become the mayor if he is to save humankind from certain doom. BunnyLord himself isn’t really a likeable guy- he’s obnoxious, says offensive stuff, but that’s really the point of his character. Neither him nor the story’s setting are meant to be taken seriously.

"The enemies you face aren’t pushovers either. While your health regenerates quickly, it can also go down to zero in the blink of an eye if you get sprayed with bullets."

And so, you work as his employees, who help him run his campaign. Most of these campaign activities usually devolve into the same mantra- gunning down everyone you see. There are several playable characters in Not A Hero, and each of them has their own unique ability. While one can move quickly but doesn’t carry a whole lot of ammo, there’s yet another character that carries a hell of a lot of ammo, but moves much slower. One character can run real fast with two guns equipped, while another can run while reloading (which is not something all the other characters can do).

The enemies you face aren’t pushovers either. While your health regenerates quickly, it can also go down to zero in the blink of an eye if you get sprayed with bullets. And while you can take cover, there’s always the danger that one of the bad guys gets a jump on you and takes you out- for example, you may be taking the time to reload, during which time an enemy will get up close and decide to shoot or punch you in the face.

Which brings me to the cover system. While the three dimensional cover based games of our age, such as Gears of War or Uncharted, mostly rely on you staying in cover pretty much all the time you’re in combat, Not A Hero simply makes staying in cover one of the several options. Mastering combat in Not A Hero is not so much about staying in cover as it is about movement and choosing your next move carefully.

Your characters also have the ability to slide while running, and if you slide into enemies, you can stun them and then take them out with one of the game’s insanely brutal and gleefully violent executions. It’s a fun mechanics that adds another layer to the shooting. Of course, the game often reads commands wrongly, and will leave you frustrated with its interpretation of what you wanted to do, but these instances are rare, and really not frequent enough to be a drag.

"The game tries to be humorous- problem is, it tries a little too hard. Almost every single line feels like it’s straining to be laugh-out-loud worthy, and it starts to get on your nerves at times."

All of these elements come together to make for a combat system that doesn’t just let the players jump in and run and gun, Contra style. No, there’s a certain level of strategy involved in the proceedings here. It’s not a tactical shooter by any means, but it lets players choose their own course of action, and it’s a welcome twist on the typical cover based shooters you see on the market these days.

Not A Hero also has to be commended on how well it translates cover-based mechanics to 2D games. Other indie titles like CounterSpy have attempted to do the same, and while CounterSpy’s cover mechanics were certainly well done, Not A Hero’s cover system feels like a much more polished mechanics since it’s not central to the shooting as much as it is peripheral to it.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, though, Not A Hero’s gameplay isn’t backed very well by its dialogue or story. The game tries to be humorous- problem is, it tries a little too hard. Almost every single line feels like it’s straining to be laugh-out-loud worthy, and it starts to get on your nerves at times. Every mission begins and ends with a briefing clip, and at some point, you’ll want to skip these altogether and just get to the action. Thankfully, the game lets you do that.

"By the time you’re done with Not A Hero, you’ll only have clocked in a few handful of hours, and you’ll certainly bemoan the lack of extra content in the game."

The level design in Not A Hero is also pretty good. While visually most of the levels don’t vary a lot, the simple addition of different enemy types- who’re weak and strong against different moves, attacks, weapons and such and posses their own unique abilities, much like the playable characters- and the fact that the game lets you decide the flow of the action on your own rather than forcing you into a cover based shooting fest makes for interesting levels.

Each level also has some added objectives, such as collecting an item, or defeating a certain number of enemies without taking any damage- nothing too whacky or out of the box, but this still adds to the game in its own unique way. None of these objectives are compulsory, nor do they determine your progression in the game in any way, so it’s possible to just skip them all entirely, but they still add a nice layer to the level design.

By the time you’re done with Not A Hero, you’ll only have clocked in a few handful of hours, and you’ll certainly bemoan the lack of extra content in the game. However, you will also look back on your playthrough and realize that Not A Hero, despite its flaws and inconsistencies, is a very enjoyable game. Its writing and forced humor let it down at times, but when you get to the action, the game shines.

Publisher claims "technical hurdles" prevented a Vita

Roll7’s Not A Hero will be out on February 2nd for the PlayStation 4 via PSN but the developer also revealed that the PS Vita version for the same has been cancelled.

In a sarcastic announcement for the same, the developer said, “In the end, we tried simply copying the whole game onto a 3.5” floppy disk and jamming it into the back of the Vita, but this caused dangerous overheating and one of our test kits exploded, killing the entire Not a Hero Vita Programming team in a fully upsetting and totally avoidable fireball of nasty burning.

“Initially, we thought it was baddies what had done it, but it turned out to just be our team’s own fantastic ineptitude. It was at this juncture our lawyers advised us to abandon the port and come up with an elaborate excuse for its cancellation.”

Publisher Devolver Digital was more straightforward, stating that, “We love the PS Vita but there were technical hurdles that prevented the Not A Hero port.”

What are your thoughts on Not A Hero, which is already available for PC? Let us know in the comments.
