Techland's open world zombie title will take advantage of Nvidia's GeForce RTX technology along with DLSS when it launches on February 4th.

Along with announcing the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and RTX 3050, Nvidia showcased several titles running on RTX technology (like The Day Before). Dying Light 2 Stay Human also received a new trailer, showcasing gameplay that highlights the quality of ray traced reflections, shadows and global illumination. Check it out below.

Nvidia DLSS is also supported, which should help provide improved performance at 4K. However, Techland has yet to outline the PC hardware needed to run the game at 4K. Even at 1080p/60 FPS, playing with the best quality ray tracing requires an Intel Core i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce RTX 3080 with 10 GB VRAM.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is out on February 4th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch so more details on its 4K requirements for PC should be coming soon. Gameplay from the Xbox One and PS4 versions will be coming later this month and Techland also confirmed that there would be over 500 unique gear pieces to equip.

A great leap forward for mobile gaming for sure.

At CES this morning during their press conference, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced new laptops using the company’s RTX GPUs. These laptops are all due to launch by the end of this month, and are being manufactured by third party OEMs (meaning Nvidia themselves are not putting out any of them).

These laptops will pack a punch—for instance, the MSI GS65 Stealth will come with a GTX 2080, and will be twice as powerful as a PS4 Pro, in a form factor that ends up being only a third as big. Huang also compared the laptop off handedly to “next generation consoles”. I feel like that may have been more of a casual quip to demonstrate the power of the laptop; I highly doubt that the next generation will “only” be twice as powerful as a PS4 Pro, so to say (according to a developer, the consoles will have twice as much memory when VRAM and RAM are combined as current generation consoles do).

Anyway, for those of you who like gaming on the go, but want something packed with a lot of power, these laptops seem like they may be the way to go—assuming they don’t cost an arm and a leg like gaming laptops usually do, at any rate.

A trailer demoing the game with Nvidia's new GeForce RTX technology has also been released.

DICE has confirmed the dates for Battlefield 5’s upcoming open beta. For those who pre-ordered the game or subscribe to Origin Access Premier, EA Access, or Origin Access Basic, the open beta will start on September 4th. Everyone else on Xbox One, PS4, and PC can play it on September 6th.

Gamescom attendees can check out the open beta’s content on the show floor in Hall 6 for Xbox One X and PC. Along with Arctic Fjord being playable in Conquest and Grand Operations, there’s also the recently revealed Rotterdam map playable in Conquest mode.

On top of this, DICE demonstrated the power of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX technology during the GPU manufacturer’s Gamescom keynote. Check it out below. Regarding the RTX demo, DICE technical director Christian Holmquist said, “It’s always been important to us as a studio to stay one step ahead as we look to increase the graphical fidelity in games.

“With this new NVIDIA RTX platform, more detail than ever before can now be seen on the battlefield, from recognizing the flash of a muzzle being reflected off a car to spotting the detailed reflection of a devastated facade in a splash of water on the ground. Things in the environment will feel more lifelike and real and all-out war will never look the same.”

Tony Tamasi, Senior Vice President of Content and Technology at Nvidia, added, “We’ve been close partners with DICE for many years and we’ve spent much of the last year deeply embedded with their team in Stockholm to bring this vision to life. With the help of NVIDIA RTX, DICE is creating a revolutionary moment for computer graphics in Battlefield 5, as ray tracing has been used in film for years and has long been considered the Holy Grail for real-time rendering in games.”

Battlefield 5 sparked some concern recently over its pre-order numbers, with analyst firm Cowen calling them “weak”. We’ll find out for ourselves how the game performs when it releases on October 19th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
