On the hardware front, at least, Microsoft has a truly impressive achievement on its hands.

The Xbox One X is a powerful system, that much is clear. Microsoft, it is clear, took the complaints of the hardware of the original Xbox One being weak and underpowered to heart, and they created a monstrous console that is truly the most sophisticated one ever created. It may not come close to the most top end of PCs- but it can hold its own really well against mid-range ones, apparently.

For example, Anton Yudintsev, CEO at Gaijin Entertainment, told GamingBolt in an exclusive interview that the Xbox One X’s GPU can often rival some of the most popular PC graphics cards on the market- for a variety of reasons, which include the lack of extraneous OS bloat that games have to get through on PCs compared to consoles.

“First of all, console developers do have better access to hardware, due to a very thin API layer, and can make better and faster code targeting exact hardware (for a particular console),” he said.

“Obviously it would be more correct to compare it to one of AMD’s GPU’s (since Xbox One X is actually AMD GPU), but NVIDIA currently dominates the PC market. So, I would say Xbox One X’s GPU computing power is about GTX1080, however, the amount of video RAM and it’s bandwidth, which is very important for current games (as a lot of them are actually limited by memory ‘speed’) makes it somewhat close to Titan X series.”

That is truly impressive, of course- while a direct 1:1 comparison is impossible, it is clear that the Xbox One X is packing in a lot of power within it. Last month, Rockfish Games CEO and co-founder Michael Schade also stated to us that the GPU is very close to a GTX 1060.

Stay tuned for our full interview with Yudintsev soon.

It's a bit of a monster.

The first benchmarks for Nvidia’s upcoming GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 are now out- using the 3DMark11 performance benchmarks, VideoCardz have gone ahead and benchmarked Nvidia’s next generation GPUs, due to be unveiled tomorrow.

These new cards are marked by the 8GB of GDDR5X memory (the first time Nvidia has offered 8GB as standard on its flagship computer GPUs- previously, this option was only available to mobile options), clocked at 2500MHz, which can provide a theoretical memory bandwidth of a staggering 320GB/s. This is the kind of thing that will probably make the GTX 1080 the go to GPU for most PC gamers of choice.

You can check the comparison benchmark chart for the GTX 1080 (and the GTX 1070 as well) for yourself below. The cards are due to be properly and officially unveiled tomorrow, so expect to have more concrete and final information on just what it is that they can do then.
