This is despite being heavily featured in the reveal trailer.

Of the many third party titles that Nintendo promoted in the reveal trailer for the new Switch, formerly the NX, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim caught many a player’s eye. However, just because it was featured doesn’t mean it’s currently planned for the console.

Speaking to Games Industry International, a Bethesda spokesperson said, “We’re happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video. While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future.”

At this point, it could be that Skyrim is still in the planning stages. Bethesda could also possibly release a version that isn’t the Skyrim we know and love. Again, this is all hypothetical until the company outright confirms it.

But hey, at least we got to see teases of a new Mario and Mario Kart.

With Nintendo set to release the first preview trailer for the NX, it’s long-awaited next-gen platform, it only seems right that some new footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild should arrive before that.

These new gameplay videos offer several different looks at the gameplay including the day-night cycle, dynamic weather system and some other aspects of explorations that Link will be able to indulge in.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was properly showcased at E3 2016 and was easily one of the most impressive games at the show. The combination of non-linear exploration, improved combat mechanics, crafting and open world scale were praised for staying true to the franchise while incorporating a more contemporary style of gameplay. It’s out on Nintendo Wii U and NX next year.

Stay tuned for more information on the NX when its preview trailer goes live today and let us know what you think of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Ever wished you could project your screen onto a cliff face or any other uneven surface? Nintendo may have the answer for you one of these days. According to a new patent the company has filed, it could release a projector for uneven surfaces sometime in the future.

Of course, it is just a patent. That doesn’t mean it could be coming anytime soon, even if Nintendo wants to go for something different when the NX arrives.

Speaking of the Nintendo NX, it’s currently scheduled to release in March 2017. Rumours indicate a reveal within the next few weeks but that’s unconfirmed till now. Trial production for units has apparently already begun with 10 million units expected to be manufactured annually according to recent reports.

What are your thoughts on the recent projector patent though? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information on Nintendo’s business in the coming weeks.

Square Enix’s Dragon Quest 10 is heading to the Nintendo NX according to Famitsu.

Having originally released on the Wii, Wii U, 3DS, PC and Android, Dragon Quest 10 is also due for the PS4. The MMO is only available in Japan and hasn’t shown signs of releasing to the West just yet.

There are rumours that indicate Dragon Quest 11 is also coming to the NX but nothing has been outright confirmed just yet. As it stands, Square Enix has some measure of dedication to the platform if it wants to bring over one of the bigger names – even if it’s just an MMO.

The Nintendo NX is confirmed to be releasing in March 2017 though Nintendo hasn’t even showcased what the console is, what it looks like or what features it sports. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been confirmed for launch and we’ll also see a new Mario and Pokemon on the platform at least six months after.

Nintendo looking for a strong line-up out of the gate.

Nintendo isn’t wasting any time getting its biggest franchises on to the upcoming Nintendo NX. According to MCV, which cites “sources close to Nintendo”, the company will be releasing a new Mario and Pokemon for the platform following the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Not only that but these titles will be available six months after the launch of Zelda. Nintendo is determined to give the NX a strong launch line-up and will ready its top first party titles for the occasion. Mario is looking to be a completely new game but it’s unknown if Pokemon on the NX will be brand new, especially with Pokemon Sun and Moon releasing this year.

Support from other publishers like Square Enix, Activision, Ubisoft, Sega and so on has also been confirmed by Nintendo so there certainly won’t be any lack of games when the NX finally arrives.

What are your thoughts on Nintendo’s biggest franchises emerging within the console’s first year though? Let us know in the comments.

CEO Strauss Zelnick believes Nintendo has been "really thoughtful" about its hardware till now.

Nintendo’s NX platform is building a steady line-up of supporters before its release and Take Two Interactive – responsible for Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, XCOM and much more – is one of them.

CEO Strauss Zelnick told Games Industry International that, “We’re believers. We never want to count Nintendo out. They do it over and over and over again. So we feel pretty enthusiastic really.”

As for the somewhat disappointing success of the Wii U compared to the Wii, Zelnick noted, “It’s not a slump, it’s intentional. They come to market, they do really well, and then they sort of exit the market for a period of time.

“They’ve been doing it for like 150 years…They’re really thoughtful, they come to market with something they really think is going to work, more often than not it really works, it blows up, and then eventually they let it decline and they move on to the next thing. They don’t mind having time in between.”

Thus far, Nintendo hasn’t revealed too much information about what the NX actually is. We do know that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be one of its launch titles in March 2017 so stay tuned for more in the coming months.

Some elements at a certain milestone ended up breaking several good things from before.

When Nintendo announced that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was delayed into 2017 and would launch on the Nintendo NX as well as the Wii U, many were quick to believe that it was to allow the former to have a strong launch title. Issues of polish are always the case but producer Eiji Aonuma noted to EDGE that things had gone slightly awry at a certain phase.

“At one of the milestones, the game was fantastic. There were so many great elements. But at the next milestone, that was all gone.

“I’d made a lot of comments about what they needed to add, but I never told them what I thought was good about the game at that milestone. So they added stuff that I’d recommended, but they also added some other elements they thought would work well – and that ended up breaking all the good parts of the previous build.”

Aonuma noted that the message he took away was to offer positive responses to help maintain the things that worked for the game. “If I’d managed that well, maybe development wouldn’t have extended quite so much.”

Regardless, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looks amazing and we can’t wait for it to release. What are your thoughts on it? Let us know below.

Though analysts like Michael Pachter have pegged The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to be a major success, especially for the upcoming NX, how successful does it have to be for profitability’s sake?

In a recent investor Q&A (translated on Twitter by Cheesemeister3k), series creator Shigeru Miyamoto noted that the game would have to sell two million copies worldwide to be profitable. He also revealed that it would be a success if it sold 300,000 units on the NX and Wii U in Japan.

Miyamoto also revealed that the credits consist of 300 people with 100 people part of the development team and that their accomplishments over the past five years will be useful for the next Zelda title.

Expect more details to emerge when Nintendo offers an official translation of its investor Q&A. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is expected to launch alongside the Nintendo NX in March 2017, which is the same time it will arrive on the Wii U.

In the main games of course.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the subject of many rumours over the past few months, especially with regards to featuring a playable female character. The idea was nixed early on and though there has been discussion about a spin-off featuring Sheik (aka ninja Zelda), series creator Shigeru Miyamoto said that Link will always remain the hero of the main games.

Speaking to Gamekult (translation via Nintendo Everything), Miyamoto answered a question regarding Zelda being the protagonist at some point. He stated that, “We clearly talked with the team to make a game centered about Sheik, so I cannot say it is impossible to see something of the sort in the future, but in the classic games in the series, Link is the hero and that will not change. For the rest, you have to be patient and see what happens!”

Till then, Link will be back in the saddle again when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild releases next year for Nintendo Wii U and NX.

CDPR's Fabian Mario Döehla offers more info on the NX.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt RED knows a few things about Nintendo’s upcoming NX platform, especially that it will be amazing.

This is according to communications manager Fabian Mario Döehla who told Rocket Beans TV (transcript via Nintengen), “It will be fantastic. As developer [CD Projekt] you get access to the hardware and everybody [at CD Projekt] is looking forward. We know things.”

Döehla also compared the reaction between European and Japanese developers, noting that, “in Japan…they thought it was very good. The Europeans took a little longer…But NX what you hear [of the developers] about NX is all very positive.”

That being said, it seems that, “the hardware will be much worse than the new Xbox.” We’re not sure if he’s referring to the upcoming Scorpio or the Xbox One.

“I think this will never again be the main emphasis in the future [for Nintendo]. Can [the NX] be better than the new Xbox? Take a realistic point of view: is Nintendo able to build a console that has got more power than Xbox?…Affordable? Do they have the contacts to the industrial facilities, resources…[Shakes head several times in denial] And what would be the positive outcome? Who is going to develop games for it?”

What are your thoughts on all this? Let us know in the comments.
