After debuting free multiplayer demos and the Onslaught DLC for free to Xbox users, Infinity Ward has finally announced when PSN users can get their free fill of Call of Duty: Ghosts. The Onslaught DLC will be available free from Friday, April 25th, 10 AM PDT to Monday, April 28th, 10 AM PDT on PS3 and PS4.

Along with four new maps such as Fog (which includes a Michael Myers care package and several Easter eggs for famous horror films), Bayview, Containment and Ignition, you’ll also get your hands on the new AR/Sniper Rifle combination Maverick rifle. If that weren’t enough, you’ll also be able to play the first episode of the new Extinction Mode campaign titled “Nightfall”. This introduces new enemies including a towering alien foes to deal with.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is still going pretty strong even though Sledgehammer Games has begun hyping up its future Call of Duty title with the first screenshot. Stay tuned for more details.

Infinity Ward has been on a roll with free trials for Call of Duty: Ghosts. After offering the entire multiplayer component for free on PC and releasing a multiplayer demo for Xbox Live, it’s now bringing out a free trial for the Onslaught DLC pack, starting on March 21st till March 24th.

The free trial will be available to Xbox 360 and Xbox One users. It will include four maps – Fog, BayView, Containment and Ignition; – along with the first episode of the new Extinction campaign, titled “Nightfall”. Players will also have access to the new dual-purpose AR/sniper rifle hybrid weapon, the Maverick.

Once you sign into Xbox Live, all you have to do is download the Onslaught DLC Pack and you can immediately start playing. The free trial will only be for Xbox Live users – other platforms will receive the Onslaught DLC trial later so stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.

Infinity Ward has recently released a new patch for Call of Duty: Ghosts to fix a crash on the PS4 version. Sounds simple, right? The odd thing is, the patch is about 1.7 GB in size. The patch notes are also very short, simply stating that it “Fixed a crash that could occur at the start screen, if you started downloading Onslaught before launching the game.”

On Reddit, Activision Support tried to clarify the patch’s nature and size. “Unfortunately we don’t have information on why the patches are the sizes that they are. Most of the details are included in the patch notes, I know the notes released today were a bit small, we’re sorry to say we wouldn’t have the full details as to why a patch focused on stability was so large.

“All patches, and patch notes are released by the studio, Infinity Ward. We apologize you’ve had to download so many files lately, multiplayer on Ghosts is one of the most popular features in the game, the development studio releases updates to help improve its performance.

“File size varies by platform, PS4 and Xbox One will typically be larger than its predecessors since their hardware differs from the previous generation platforms. Newer consoles are able to handle more, be it improved graphics, or even support for Ground war, so when patches/games are released for these newer platforms more data is required.”

After a weekend of free Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer, it seems Infinity Ward is gearing up to release a free multiplayer demo for the game on March 7th. It’s also going to offer more personalization packs on March 4th and the Onslaught DLC for free on March 21st. This all comes by way of a PasteBin entry posted last night.

The multiplayer demo will apparently include Team Deathmatch and Domination along with the Warhawk, Prison Break and Strike Zone maps. You can even play a trial of Extinction and create your own soldier. As for the personalization packs, you’ll be able to look forward to skins of Makarov, Zakhaev, a Hazmat Suit toting soldier and Rorke for use in multiplayer.

The Onslaught DLC will be free for the weekend starting March 21st which allows you access to all the new maps, Extinction’s new campaign episode, the new Maverick Rifle and of course, Michael Myers. There’s something about “The Ripper” as well. Perhaps a new weapon?

Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Onslaught DLC is already available on Xbox Live, but to further get the game ready for the same, Infinity Ward released a title update for the game that adds a lot of new features along with the usual adjustments and fixes.

Firstly, Gun Game, Hunted FFA and eSports rules for Clan vs. Clan matches have been added (with the option of up to 4 persons being able to join) to the playlist choices. You’ll also be able to select Heavy Duty health options for Private matches. Killstreak counts will now also be maintained across rounds in modes like Search and Destroy, Search and Rescue, and Blitz. The dev has also shortened the countdown timer for Clan vs. Clan.

Other changes include social feed additions, new multiplayer lobby menu music, Extinction mode balances, 5 new Prestige Ranks for Extinction and much more. For the full list of changes, head here.

Infinity Ward’s first official DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts is now available on Xbox Live for Xbox One and Xbox 360. It will require 4.64 GB of installation space.

Onslaught has been fairly hyped for a while and includes four new multiplayer maps, including a map that lets players take on the role of Michael Myers from Halloween, simply running from murder to murder with an axe. Players also get the new dual purpose Maverick which can act as an assault rifle and sniper role.

The biggest addition however will be the first of four episodes for Extinction, titled Nightfall, which will see players infiltrate a research facility and taking on new breeds of aliens. This includes a three story tall behemoth wrecking shop.

Along with new maps, a new weapon and Michael Myers from Halloween – because why not? – the Onslaught DLC for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature a brand new campaign for the Extinction mode. The first episode of this campaign, titled Nightfall, has been promoted using a new trailer. Check it out above.

Nightfall takes place at a remote facility in Alaska where a team of soldiers infiltrates the Nightfall Program after things go horribly, horribly wrong. In the midst of it all, you’ll be fighting of hordes of aliens and dealing with a new three story tall alien that just saw you killing all its family members. Truly where you want to be in Alaska.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught will be releasing on January 28th for Xbox Live, with other platforms to release later. So those waiting for the PlayStation and PC releases will need to be patient for a while longer.

While Activision had us shaking our heads with its last round of live action spots – including a commercial featuring Megan Fox – the new “CODNapped” trailer meant to promote the upcoming Onslaught DLC for Call of Duty: Ghosts comes across as somewhat better. Check it out above.

Essentially, it’s about getting time away from your loved ones, work and responsibilities in order play the new DLC, which releases on January 28th. Why? Well, just because. We’re not sure if this is actually valid for real life. We’re some what scared to find out.

But there’s plenty of new Onslaught footage here, with the first episode of the new campaign for Extinction Mode and its new enemies, four new multiplayer maps and the new Maverick assault rifle/sniper rifle showcased.

The new add-on will have four players playing as a team, facing endless hordes of enemies who just want to put a bullet in your head, have lunch, take a quick nap in the living room and kick some ass again.

It sounds hard, but we have got some advice from the executive producer Patrick Bach on how to play this mode properly:

“Keep your squad tight and make sure to experiment with a mix of different kits. It’s all about finding the right weapon for the job. You wouldn’t try and blow up a tank with a sniper rifle – even though you CAN headshot people with the repair tool, actually.”

The Onslaught DLC was recently released on XBLA as well.
