Find out how much ammo you have left - all for one 13 GB update!

Capcom surprised us all by releasing a 13 GB update for Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One ahead of the release of the Operation Eagle DLC. Now, as the DLC launches today, Microsoft explained to VG247 just what the update brings forth to players.

“Capcom Vancouver released a new title update today for Dead Rising 3 in advance of tomorrow’s launch of the game’s first DLC episode, Operation Broken Eagle.

“The update introduces a host of improvements to single-player and co-op gameplay, including a variety of performance and stability upgrades, and fixes for issues related to achievements, UI updates, SmartGlass and more. Additionally, it adds a new impulse trigger feature that notifies players when they are running low on ammo.”

We still have mixed reactions about this – how much was wrong with Dead Rising 3 if it needed a 13 GB update to correct it all? There hasn’t been any confirmation as to how the update plays into future episodes, so we’ll need to wait and find out. At least we know that the DLC doesn’t have co-op support.

In fact, none of the four DLC packs do.

Dead Rising 3’s Operation Eagle DLC is out today and producer Josh Bridge has taken to Xbox Wire to clarify that it does no support co-op gameplay. He also confirmed that none of the planned DLC episodes will have co-op play, though you can carry over items from the DLC to use in the main game.

“No, there’s no co-op for each of the four episodes. We chose to do that so we could really drill down on a single-player experience and really tell that character’s story.

“We see and know that everyone really loves co-op, which is why all of those weapons and vehicles and stuff you get in the episode can be brought into the main game for co-op as well. So, say, in Nightmare mode, you can go into the weapons locker and vehicle garage and find that stuff there.”

Thoughts on this development? Let us know below.

The first DLC has been delayed for "extra polishing".

Dead Rising 3: Operation Eagle was to be the first major DLC for Xbox One exclusive, but it’s been delayed till January 21st 2014 in the interest of extra polishing. It was originally due to release on December 24th. The DLC was to add a new playable character – Spec Ops Commander Adam Kane – along with new weapons and a new vehicle. Kane’s mission in the game is to locate the President of the United States.

A representative for Microsoft stated that, “Adding new content to the massive open world of Los Perdidos is a major undertaking, and to ensure we provide the best possible experience for players, we are putting a few additional weeks of polish and testing into the episode before it’s released. Stay tuned for additional updates.”

Operation Eagle will retail for $10, and is also part of the Season Pass for the game, which costs $30. What are your thoughts on the delay? Let us know in the comments below.
