Another month is almost up, another day is gone, and yeah, the world still is crumbling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Oh well, it is what it is at this point, I guess. There is tons of free stuff out there for the various subscription services to keep you occupied and today we got a look at what Xbox Live Gold members can get their hands on soon with May’s Games With Gold.

On the Xbox 360 side of things, we get a nice little soccer title called The Sensible World of Soccer which will be available from May 1st to the 15th. Also on the 360, you can get the evil mastermind simulator, Overlord, starting on the 15th and going until the end of the month.

As far as the One, you can get in the mud and dirt with V-Rally 4 which will be available for the entire month of May. Also on Xbox One the epic fantasy action title based on the popular tabletop game, Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor – Martyr, will be free for Gold members starting May 15th and run until the next month on June 15th.

The games will start coming out for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 starting May 1st and, as always, the Xbox 360 offerings will be backward compatible with all Xbox One systems.

These games let you embrace the darkness and wreak havoc on foes.

Demons are a dime a dozen in video games, whether it’s as terrifying foes or mysterious allies. But how many times have you had to the opportunity to play as a demon, unleashing those demonic powers for yourself? Let’s take a look at 15 titles that offer that opportunity (with some mixing a bit of evil in to go with it).

The Darkness – Jackie Estacado

Jackie Estacado seems to be your average, run of the mill gangster. That is, until he’s possessed by The Darkness, an ancient malevolent entity that wreaks havoc and rips people apart, among other things. The Darkness has inhabited Jackie’s family line for generations and wars with him for control. While considered a demon in the games, the comic books reveal The Darkness to be the embodiment of chaos and evil, the void before the light and other such discomforting terms.

Not everything goes the way you'd think, especially when betrayal is lurking around the corner.

There are some situations where it doesn’t pay to be too trusting and that holds doubly so for many video games. Everything could be peachy but the end scenario – or at least events leading up to and/or including the end – will see you betrayed. Let’s take a look at some of those scenarios here.

SOMA

Frictional’s SOMA is a compelling adventure, one that’s seemingly mimicking Amnesia: The Dark Descent but soon evolves into its own sci-fi moral dilemma. Protagonist Simon isn’t the same as the one who started the game – instead, he’s a robot copy and the Earth is more or less finished. His mission throughout is to transfer the consciousness of both him and Catherine, another robot copy, to the ARK which will launch into space. Unfortunately, there’s a coin-flip of sorts involved and their consciousness aren’t transferred, leaving them trapped on Earth. This leaves Simon angry, thinking that Catherine betrayed him, and that causes the OmniTool to malfunction. Simon is thus less left alone with no one else around.

Today you can get an amazing deal on all of the Mass Effect 2 DLC. You can get all three packs for 200 Microsoft Points each. That’s 600 Points for basically all the Mass Effect 2 add on content. If you bought the game new and have the Cerberus Network for free then the only add on content you have to buy is the ‘Lair of the Shadow Broker’ at 1.5 gig, ‘Kasumi – Stolen Memory’ and the ‘Overlord’ pack each only costing you 200 points. Grab while you can, because I don’t see it being advertised that much on the dashboard and it might only be available today. This was our game of the year pick so don’t haste and grab the deals while you can.

A third premium DLC pack is making its way to Mass Effect 2.

Announced by EA, the project known as Overlord is due for release next month. It will have players fighting the AI in a laboratory.

EA has kept quiet about most details, but we know it will be set across “five levels set across one story on one planet”. Unfortunately, this DLC will not add new party members to your posse, and neither will any further DLC according to executive producer Casey Hudson.

He also added, “Overlord is a standalone story which can be played before or after the end of Mass Effect 2, providing players with an evening or two of new adventures.”

EA also confirmed that more DLC is on the way, “We have several new DLC packs in development and we plan to keep that up – there’s always something new around the corner for the long-term Mass Effect players.”

The Overlord DLC pack will cost 560MS points (£4.80) and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC players in June.

To whet your appetite, check out the screenshots below.
