Murasaki Baby Announced for PlayStation Vita

Of the many announcements Sony had in store at its Gamescom 2013 press conference, including Borderlands 2 and Fez for the PS Vita and a price drop effective tomorrow for the handheld, another game stood out among the crowd: namely, Italian developer Ovosonico’s Murasaki Baby. Check out the trailer for the game above.

In keeping with its fascination for off-beat titles, Murasaki Baby is controlled completely using the PlayStation Vita’s touch controls. We have a hard time ourselves explaining just how cool it is, so make you check out the trailer above. This will be Ovosonico’s first tile and will even have Shadow of the Damned’s creator at the helm.

A release date for the game is yet to be announced, but it will be complementing Sony’s handheld titles line-up rather nicely. Will it be enough to topple the 3DS which has its own share of exclusives for the Holiday season though? Time will tell. Ovosonico Teams with Sony Computer Entertainment, New IP in Works

Massimo Guarini, who directed Shadows of the Damned, and has since launched a new indie studio Ovosonico will be teaming up with Sony Computer Entertainment to create a new IP.

Guarini, who has also worked on more than 15 other games since entering the industry in 1999, stated, “There has never been a better time to contribute to the growth of the video games industry.

Ovosonico aims to challenge convention, to push the boundaries further and expand out medium by delivering innovative, emotionally engaging games that deeply resonate with people. SCE Worldwide Studios Europe understands out vision and we are thrilled to partner with them. We strongly feel that they are the perfect partner for us.”

Michael Denny, Senior Vice President, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Europe for his part stated that “working with creative minds such as Massimo Guarini that ensures that the best exclusive games are only available on PlayStation and we firmly believe that this relationship will result in something special.”
