PC gaming giant eyeing Android microconsole gaming poster child.

Once upon a time, Ouya was a promise- a promise of a new, open source console featuring a haven for smaller and mid tier games, a paradise for homebrewers, a new kind of hacker culture for gamers, the kind that the Xbox Live Arcade had hinted at, but never quite realized.

That never happened- the console, when it launched, was a dismal flop, becoming the poster child for the failure of Android based microconsoles at large. However, according to a new report from GamesBeat, it now appears that there may still be some out there who value Ouya- supposedly, PC gaming giant Razer (best known for their gaming optimized keyboards and mice) is in advanced talks to buy the struggling console startup for the price of $10 million.

The rumor is a bit confusing, since Razer has announced its own Android based microconsole, Forge. What Razer is planning to do with Ouya in this case is unknown- maybe IP and patent rights?

Regardless, we will keep you posted. Stay tuned.
