MegaPixel Studio has announced that Panzer Dragoon: Remake will be coming to Xbox One on December 11th. After initially launching for Switch, followed by Stadia, PC and PS4, the remake of Sega’s classic rail shooter can finally be experienced by Xbox players. Whether it will come to Xbox Game Pass this month is unconfirmed.

Panzer Dragoon: Remake sees two dragons awakening on a strange planet. Unfortunately, the Prototype Dragon is intent on reaching the Tower and the player, with the blue dragon, must stop them. This involves flying and shooting through seven levels, battling all kinds of horrors along the way.

The remake sports improved controls, namely in the 360-degree and lock-on targeting, and visuals. Though it had a few hiccups at launch, MegaPixel has released a few updates to improve things. There’s still no update on the remake of Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei so stay tuned in the coming months for more details.

Warcraft 3: Reforged

How do you possibly mess up a classic game like Warcraft 3? It’s one thing to have multitudes of bugs, horrible multiplayer, an underwhelming UI, and an uneven graphics update. It’s quite another to claim ownership over all custom games with players not even getting credit. Or outright lying about remastered cutscenes and presentation. Or making it so that owners of the original had to update to Reforged, thus ruining their nostalgia as well. Or a dozen other things that make you wonder how Blizzard got to this point.

MegaPixel Studio’s Panzer Dragoon: Remake, a remake of the classic Sega Saturn title, received a surprise release yesterday as part of the Nintendo mini Direct. It’s available for Switch now via the Nintendo eShop and costs $24.99. PC players will still have to wait till Winter since this is a timed exclusive.

Boasting better graphics and controls, Panzer Dragoon: Remake tells the story of a human and a blue dragon that must venture to the Tower and stop the Prototype Dragon. As an on-rails shooter, you can rotate 360 degrees and fire on enemies around you. Such foes include large sandworms, battleships, dragonflies and much more.

There are seven levels to shoot through and the music and visuals are on point. Stay tuned for more details on the PC release in the coming months. Panzer Dragoon 2: Zwei will also be receiving a remake so expect to hear more about that as well.

Initially announced for Nintendo Switch, Panzeer Dragoon: Remake will also be heading to Steam this Winter. The title is currently available for PC players to wishlist. If you’ve been hankering to experience the classic but don’t have a Switch, this should be a decent alternative.

Panzer Dragoon: Remake promises improved controls and visuals, and thus far looks promising. The sequel, Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei, is also being remade but we’ve yet to see it. An old school series is planning to make a big return come winter time with Panzer Dragoon Remake. It will be among remakes of the first two games of Sega’s legendary series that’s been dormant for many years. The game was revealed at this year’s E3, but then seemingly went silent afterward with little word. But we did get a tidbit of information that’s sure to make collectors happy.

Via the game’s official Twitter, it was announced that the game will have a physical edition. That means it won’t be digital-only like some people assumed based on the type of property we’re talking about. Fans rubbing their hands together for the return can get a box on their shelf.

At the end of last year, we got the announcement that remakes of the first two games in the Panzer series, Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, were in the works. It’s been silent since that announcement, but today that silence was broken in a big way as we got not only the first official reveal of the first remake, we got to see some actual gameplay.

The game was unveiled at Nintendo’s E3 Direct. While there isn’t a lot, you actually do get to see the game in action. You get a brief feel for how well the game emulates how the original Saturn game played, and how well the developers have captured the original game’s fantastical feel.

If you aren’t familiar, Panzer Dragoon was an on-rails shooter series (though it would eventually have spin-offs in other genres). It was noted for its surprisingly strong story and distinct art style. The last original game that came from the franchise was Panzer Dragoon Orta way back at the launch of the original Xbox.

In perhaps the most unexpected remake news yet, Forever Entertainment has announced that it’s working with Sega to remake the first two games in the vaunted Panzer Dragoon series. That’s right – Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei: Remake are coming. There are only a scant few details for each release though.

Panzer Dragoon: Remake will have new modernized graphics and changes to its core systems to appeal to contemporary audiences. The plot from the base game will remain the same, and it’s out by 2019 end, so there’s a ways to go yet. As for Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei: Remake, there’s currently no information on when it will launch.

Perhaps most conspicuous is the fact that release platforms for both titles weren’t revealed. Could Sega be anticipating the announcement of some other platforms before that? Say, a PS5 or next Xbox? We’re not sure, but either way, we’ll have to wait till next year for more information.
