Ubisoft’s Panzer General Online has entered into the open beta phase. The turn based tactical strategy title which is free to play for browsers everywhere is developed by Blue Byte and features multiplayer support along with a single-player campaign.

With the open beta, the development team can now show off the feedback and improvements implemented after the closed beta. This includes fine-tuning balance in single and multi-player, optimizing booster packs, new units and command cards along with a new Skirmish 2.0 mode and much more. Skirmish 2.0 has been created to allow players to battle each other using pre-constructed decks to allow for equal footing between newbies and veterans. There will be more content to come throughout the open beta and in the foreseeable future.

Those who participated in the closed beta will also be rewarded with two exclusive tanks for the US and German armies. Check out the open beta today and let us know what you think.

The classic Panzer General series has been reborn as Panzer General Online, the web browser based free to play tactical strategy game. Rejoice.

Panzer General Online entered closed beta for English speaking players today- the new title, developed by Ubisoft Blue Byte in close collaboration with Funatics Software, returns players to the WWII battlefield, allowing them to take control of armies with units as varied and devastating as the Tiger Tank or Nebelwerfer rocket Launcher. The single player campaign allows players to relive historically accurate scenarios such as Monte Casino or the Battles of the Bulge. Meanwhile, the multiplayer mode will allow players to pit their skills against each other.

Panzer General Online is a reboot and reimagining of the classic franchise, due out sometime later this year for all PCs. It utilizes the same free to play model that Ubisoft utilized to such great effect in another one of their classic franchises, Anno, with Anno Online.

Ubisoft today announced Panzer General Online, an update of the classic turn based strategy games that will be playable for free on browsers. This game will be developed by Blue Byte Studio, and it will be the fifth browser based free to play game that the studio will be working on. The game will support a multiplayer mode, in addition to single player, and will also incorporate many trading card game like elements, such as collecting and trading miniatures of tanks, infantry, and cavalry to create a ‘personalized army.’

Panzer General Online should be playable in most browsers that are not Internet Explorer 6.
