Red Dead Redemption 2 – The Donkey Lady

Red Dead Redemption had all manner of odd “glitches” but they were so elaborate that one could have thought them easter eggs. One was the Donkey Lady who had the body of a woman but the face of a donkey (obviously). Even if it was a glitch, Rockstar included her in Red Dead Redemption 2. Unfortunately, it seems that the world wasn’t kind to her existence, tying her to a horse mill until her death at Cholla Spring in Two Crows.

You may not know it – especially since Nintendo have apparently decided that anything releasing before Nintendo is not worth marketing this year – but Paper Mario Color Splash releases on the Wii U in just a couple of weeks. And to ensure that at least those who are following the game have some media on the game in the lead up to its release, Nintendo have gone ahead and quietly released two trailers for the game.

In both the trailers, the game comes off as surprisingly charming, reeking of the kind of delightful quality that was one of the things that made the series so beloved with so many players in the first place. One thing is for sure- the direction that the series has taken ever since the divisive 3DS entry Paper Mario Sticker Star may not appeal to everyone, but the games’ artstyle has gotten progressively better.

Paper Mario Color Splash launches on the Wii U exclusively on October 7.

Paper Mario will be making his return with Paper Mario: Color Splash on the Wii U. As per Nintendo’s Treehouse E3 stream, the game will be out on October 7th worldwide.

Paper Mario: Color Splash continues on the gameplay seen in Sticker Star. Mario is armed with a Paint Hammer for solving puzzles, reviving Toads that have lost their colour and restoring colour to things in general. The Wii U gamepad will be utilized to remove pieces of the environment and use them to overcome obstacles. The Battle Card system is new and will ask you to use different cards to defeat enemies.

Though it didn’t receive a very positive reception at its announcement, since Color Splash seemingly won’t have the RPG elements seen in the first game, and even prompted a Change.org petition for its cancellation, it’s one of the few Wii U exclusives to look out for this year. Did you like Paper Mario Sticker Star? If you are one of the five people who did, the good news is that there is a brand new Paper Mario game out, and it is basically a Paper Mario Sticker Star 2. Paper Mario Color Splash is a new game in the long running, beloved series, and it continues on from Sticker Star, basically stripping out all the RPG elements, and making the game more… action adventure-y.

It’s a crying shame.

On the other hand, the game at least looks pretty, with the artstyle translating extremely well to HD. But I can’t bring myself to be excited for it- when people were asking for a new Paper Mario game, this is not at all what they had in mind.

I guess it’s time for everyone to accept that Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door was just a one off. We are never getting something like that ever again. Paper Mario Color Splash launches exclusively on Wii U later this year.
