That said, the backers' beta will be updated substantially to soften the blow.

Paradox Interactive and Harebrained Schemes’ Kickstarted funded mech based turn based game, BattleTech, was originally going to release this year- however, it seems like the game has been delayed into 2018, with Paradox and Harebrained both citing their desire to have this game be the best it can be and meet their internal standards as the reason for the delay.

“Throughout development our Backers have been clear: ‘Don’t rush it, just make it great.’ and we have taken that advice to heart. HBS, Paradox, and our Backers all share a deeply personal attachment to this project and we are committed to delivering a game that not only meets the high expectations of our Backers and fans but introduces BattleTech to a new generation of players,” said Harebrained Schemes CEO Jordan Weisman, explaining the reason for the delay.

“The feedback and enthusiasm from Beta participants has shown us just how great BattleTech can be, and rushing development to fit a timeline would be a disservice. We believe in the Harebrained Schemes team, and want them to give the game the time and attention they need to create a turn-based game worthy of the name,” Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester added.

Now, the good news is, this is not the end of the world- to soften the blow of the final game’s release delay, Paradox and Harebrained have gone announced the pending update for the backers’ beta later this week, adding gameplay changes, AI upgrades, balance changes, and interface enhancement. They have also confirmed that another beta update, which adds PvP multiplayer, will be releasing some time next month.

So you will still get to be playing the game this year- just not the final release. As of right now, BattleTech will launch some time early next year.

A new, incredibly authentic WW2 era RTS.

Paradox has just announced a new, highly exciting looking PC exclusive game- a new real time strategy game set in the World War 2 era. Steel Division: Normandy 44 is being developed by Eugen Systems, and it uses aerial shots of World War 2 battlefields to recreate them in game authentically. Which is… an excellent idea, actually.

“Few developers appreciate strategy and history as much as Eugen Systems, and that’s what makes this partnership so ideal,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “The level of detail they’ve included in Steel Division is impressive, and I know it will meet the high standards that Paradox fans have when it comes to their historical games.”

You can check out the announcement trailer for the game below. As of right now, it has no release date attached to it, but it looks highly interesting, and you can be sure we will keep you apprised of its progress.

May you fare better at this than just about every real life city.

Very few cities in the world actually do public transportation right- Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, New York, Toronto, New Delhi, London, and maybe Singapore, but that’s it. If you’re not living in these cities, getting from one place to another without a car can be a royal pain in the hindside (trust me, I would know).

However, developer Colossal Order wants to give you the chance to make amends, at least in the virtual world- they’ve announced the newest expansion for their perennially popular cities simulation Cities: Skylines, and it’ll be Mass Transit. In case the name didn’t give it away, it will be all about mass transit options, adding a whole host of mass transit infrastructure options (as well as options to monetize them).

The expansion will be made available later this year for the PC, Mac, and Linux versions of the game. As of right now, there’s no word on whether or not it will ever be coming to Xbox One, which gets its own version of the game in March.

Build your dream city, now on Xbox.

Colossal Order and Paradox Entertainment have announced that their hit, classic PC city simulation game Cities: Skylines will be hitting the Xbox One at last this Spring. The game was originally announced for Xbox One quite a while ago- now, Xbox players will get to see just what the big deal is with this game.

“Paradox is a company that’s proud to publish and support ‘niche’ games, and we’re happy to be able to bring those specialized experiences to console as well,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox. “Cities: Skylines has built one of the biggest and most active communities we’ve seen among Paradox’s fans, and that’s saying a lot. We can’t wait to welcome Xbox One players into that group, and I’m eager to see the towns and cities they can build.”

You can check out the Xbox One reveal trailer for the game below. For now, there is no word on a PS4 or Nintendo Switch version of the game- so you’ll have to get an Xbox if you really want to play this on consoles.

The latest expansion for last year’s excellent city building sim, Cities: Skylines, will be launching on February 18. The previously announced Cities Skylines: Snowfall is due out on February 18, releasing simultaneously for all computers running Windows, Mac, and Linux. it will cost $12.99.

Like the previous expansion, Snowfall is far more than a simple color swap, or even more than just the inclusion of weather- entirely new systems, which derive from the in game weather, such keeping roads clear, arranging for heating for buildings (and the auxiliary systems necessary, like power), and new all-weather public transport, are all introduced to the game to add even more layers to the simulation than it had before.

In addition to all this, new winter themed landmarks and buildings will also be made available to players as part of Snowfall. This, plus multiple free updates, are all coming to Cities: Skylines later this month, so fans of the hit city sim should be well served.

Night time is coming to the popular city simulation game Cities: Skylines. Called After Dark, the expansion will release on September 24 for $14.99. And to show off just what all the transitioning from day into night entailed for the most detailed and nuanced city simulation ever, here is a brand new trailer for the game that we got at PAX.

The change of time affects traffic (it gets less heavy, meaning nighttime is a good time to schedule construction and other maintenance activities), while commercial zones see more activity. Crime increases at night, meaning police patrols need to be increased, and public transport starts being used more. In addition to nighttime, a beach specialization, criminal trafficking, taxi cabs, cargo trains from harbors, international airports with metro station, bus terminal, and bike and bus lane options for roads are all being added with this expansion.

Check out the trailer below for yourself, and tell us what you think.

Paradox Entertainment are following up on the success of the original Magicka, the creative and quirky take on the co-op action RPG genre that Blizzard birthed with its decidedly more somber Diablo games, with a sequel. Magicka 2 is supposed to release not only on PCs, like the original, but also on the PlayStation 4. To make sure you stay in the loop about the game, Paradox have released a brand new trailer for the game, and in typical Paradox and Magicka style, it’s sharp, funny, and incredibly self aware.

Today’s trailer is a very special interview with absolutely not a vampire, as the series’ famous guide Vlad – sorry, “Brad” – opens up and shares his inner demons with the world. It’s heart-rending stuff. Try not to judge until you’ve walked a mile in his gothic boots, Paradox reminds us. We agree, and even if we didn’t the new trailer is great, so just go ahead and check it out.

We’ll keep you posted.

Paradox Entertainment’s upcoming close combat game War of the Vikings will be getting an update that will let players customize their character; the current editor is a bit limited, but more choices and tools will be added once the game releases publicly (it is currently in Early Access).

Another thing that this update adds is a level progression system that allows players to unlock additional character loadout slots and more as they prove their courage in battle.

The new in game customizer can allow players to start exploring options within the game, such as the weapon wheel, the perks, albeit in limited quantities- full access will come later, once the game gets out of Early Access and launches, which, apart from allowing more perks, weapons, and customization tools, will also raise the level cap (it is currently 20), and add four customization and loadout slots.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more information.

War of the Vikings, Paradox Interactive’s new game that is currently in Early Access on Steam, has gotten a new update that adds new maps, bloodier vikings, and weapons looting to the game. Which sort of makes sense for a game that is about, you know, vikings.

The new phase of the game, called “Bloðorn,” (which means “Blood Eagle” for those of you who did not know) adds new changes to the combat system. It also adds a set of gruesome new blood effects, along with new maps and profile loadouts. Paradox promises us that new updates will continue to arrive on a regular basis as the developers work with Early Access players to optimize gameplay, add new features, and expand the title in anticipation of its release date.

The bloody update comes to us because Paradox is a Blood Drive participant, and wants to raise awareness.

I don’t know, this is a pretty fun way of raising awareness for a cause, that’s for sure.
