After first releasing in 2018 for PC and undergoing numerous bug fixes, Owlcat Games’ Pathfinder: Kingmaker is finally coming to consoles today. As the Definitive Edition, it will include all of the previously released DLC like Varnhold’s Lot, Beneath the Stolen Lands and The Wildcards. Check out the launch trailer below.

Along with all of this content – including the bug fixes and changes from the Enhanced Edition – there’s the new turn-based mode. Turn-based mode doesn’t have any attack queuing so you simply select an action with one character, perform it and then move on to the next. Switching back and forth between turn-based and real-time combat can be done with the press of a button.

Perhaps more interesting is that turn-based combat will also be added to the PC version. It’s set to go live in a free update later today. For console players, Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition will be available on Xbox One and PS4. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

Owlcat Games’ RPG Pathfinder: Kingmaker launched for PC in 2018, and quickly endeared itself to a strong community of players. Soon, the game will be opening the doors for a larger audience to come in and enjoy what it has to offer. At the IGN Expo, it was announced that Pathfinder: Kingmaker is coming to consoles.

More specifically, Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition will be releasing for PS4 and Xbox One on August 18, and will include all six DLC packs released forthe game. The most notable new feature it will bring is a brand-new turn-based mode, which will – you guessed it – allow you to experience the game’s combat in a turn-based fashion, allowing you to strategize and micromanage even more. A trailer for the upcoming Definitive Edition was also released, which you can take a look at below.

Given that the PS5 and Xbox Series X are launching just months from now, it’s worth asking if the game will come to next-gen consoles as well. For now though, it’s just announced for current-gen consoles.

Owlcat Games’ Pathfinder: Kingmaker didn’t have a tremendous impact when it launched in October. The fact that it had its share of issues also didn’t help, but the developer has been working to improve performance and clean up bugs. Recently, it announced that three expansions would be coming to the RPG, with the first, The Wildcards, set to arrive on December 6^th.

The Wildcards brings the Tieflings, a new playable race, and the Kineticists, a new playable class to play around with. A new companion who’s a Tiefling Kineticist will also be available, and is a romance option with her own quest. The first expansion can be purchased standalone, but doesn’t currently have a price.

The second expansion is Varnhold’s Lot, which is the meatiest of all three, and releases in February 2019. It’s about 6 to 12 hours long and focuses on Maegar Varn’s trials as he establishes Varnhold. The expansion will take into account the choices made in the main story. Finally, there’s Beneath The Stolen Lands. The third expansion is a new game mode: a rogue-like randomly-generated endless dungeon, complete with a boss fight.

You can explore it in a new game or via your main campaign when it releases in April 2019. If you’re interested in getting all three expansions, the Season Pass is available for $25 on Steam.

Owlcat Games’ ambitious fantasy RPG Pathfinder: Kingmaker is almost here. A new launch trailer has been released courtesy of publisher Deep Silver as we prepare for the game to go live on Steam and GOG today. Check it out below.

If the name is unfamiliar, the game is based on Pathfinder Adventure Path, one of the older fantasy RPGs. Venturing through the Stolen Lands, players will encounter different NPCs, battle enemies, customize their characters, and much more, over a grand adventure. Pathfinder: Kingmaker evolves the 3.5 ruleset, and along with taking on different companions, you can also choose to build your own kingdom.

This means managing the kingdom, dealing in politics and diplomacy, making the right decisions and alliances, and leading your people. As your kingdom expands, new territories will unlock, and different factions and countries will either look to work with or against you. With Pillars of Eternity and Prey writer Chris Avellone on-board, it should be interesting to see how Pathfinder: Kingmaker ultimately shakes out.
