Cliff Bleszinski’s newest game is now out. Lawbreakers takes a lot of cues from Blizzard’s Overwatch structurally, but in terms of aesthetics and actual gameplay, it has the kind of sensibilities you expect from a Cliffy B game.

Bleszinski cut his teeth on PC gaming- so of course it makes sense that his newest game runs like a dream on PC. That said, of course, given the sheer range and permutations of PC hardware that can be found on the market, you may run into trouble running the game on your rig. That’s where we come in. In this guide, we attempt to address some of the most common problems found with the PC version if Lawbreakers.

But first, the specs:

MINIMUM:

OS: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

Memory: 4 GB RAM

Graphics: Nvidia 460 (1GB)

DirectX: Version 11

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: 12 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

OS: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)

Processor: Intel Core i7 -4790

Memory: 16 GB RAM

Graphics: Nvidia GTX 970

DirectX: Version 11

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: 12 GB available space

Please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems that may arise or issues that may occur from trying the below. Always remember that official support is always the best support.

GENERAL FIXES

Generally speaking, some basic troubleshooting tips should always help you resolve whatever issue you are facing with the PC version of any game. The same holds true of Lawbreakers as well. If you are running into problems, maybe first attempt the following steps, and if they don’t work out, look into some of the more specific fixes we have below.

Make sure the drivers on your PC are updated

If you have two GPUs, make sure you are using the discrete GPU instead of the integrated one

Set Lawbreakers‘s priority to High in the Task Manager

Turn off any background programs, including firewalls, chat clients, video recorders, and overlays

Try lowering visual settings on the game to see if that improves game performance

STUCK ON MAP LOADING

If you are stuck on the map loading screen, the only fix is to exit the game, exit Steam, and then wait a while to restart the game. Note that you must wait a while before you restart the game- starting it too son after quitting basically puts you back in trying to load the game that was unable to load and got you stuck to begin with.

NGS FAILED TO INITIALIZE PROPERLY

To resolve this issue, run Steam (and the game) as an Administrator.

MAIN MENU SCREEN ISSUES

Change the native language of the game from ‘native’ to ‘eng’ on the bottom of the menu.

UNABLE TO CHANGE RESOLUTION

The only fix to this is to change the resolution at which your computer itself renders for now.

FREEZING

This appears to happen if you excessively Alt-Tab. The solution to this would be to… well, to not Alt-Tab. You can also look into turning off V-Sync, or running the game in Windowed Mode, as a fix.

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of LawBreakers.

Some tech tips for the PC version of Tekken 7.

Tekken 7 is finally out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC- with the latter platform getting it for the very first time. Given that, then, it is surprising just how good the PC port of Tekken 7 really is. There’s very little of the faff that surrounds PC versions of big multiplatform games, especially Japanese games. It’s a good version of a good game.

That said, there definitely are some issues. Nothing too major or game breaking, but they are there. Should you happen to run into them, we will help you out with this guide, where we have some basic remedies for some of the problems people have reported running into while playing this game.

But first, the specs:

MINIMUM:

OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)

Processor: Intel Core Intel Core i3-4160 @ 3.60GHz or equivalent

Memory: 6 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB, GTX 750Ti 2GB, or equivalent

DirectX: Version 11

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: 60 GB available space

Sound Card: DirectX compatible soundcard or onboard chipset

RECOMMENDED:

OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)

Processor: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5 GHz or equivalent

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 equivalent or higher

DirectX: Version 11

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: 60 GB available space

Sound Card: DirectX compatible soundcard or onboard chipset

Please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems that may arise or issues that may occur from trying the below.
GENERAL FIXES

Generally speaking, some basic troubleshooting tips should always help you resolve whatever issue you are facing with the PC version of any game. The same holds true of Tekken 7 as well. If you are running into problems, maybe first attempt the following steps, and if they don’t work out, look into some of the more specific fixes we have below.

Turn off any background programs, including firewalls, chat clients, video recorders, and overlays

Try lowering visual settings on the game to see if that improves game performance

CHANGING GAME LANGUAGE

To change the game language for Tekken 7, you need to right click on the game in your Steam library, go into Properties, and change the settings under the Language option.

LAG/DISCONNECTIONS

First, obviously, make sure your internet connection and bandwidth is enough to support online play. If you are not playing on a wired connection, you may want to switch to that. If you’re good on both of those fronts, then make sure the following ports are open for your router:

TCP: 80, 443, 3478-3480
UDP: 3478-3479

BLURRY IMAGE

Go to user/AppData/Local/TekkenGame/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/scalability.ini

Open using Notepad, or some other plain text editor

Paste the following into the file:
[PostProcessQuality@2]
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0[PostProcessQuality@3]
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0

Save and exit.

Boot up the game. The blurring should be gone now.

FILM GRAIN EFFECT

Go to user/AppData/Local/TekkenGame/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/scalability.ini

Open using Notepad, or some other plain text editor

Paste r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0 into the file

Save and exit

Boot up the game. The film grain should be gone now.

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Tekken 7.

As Arkane promised, the PC version of Prey is great. It doesn’t suffer from nearly as many issues as the PC version of Dishonored 2 did, and is generally well optimized, with very little in the way of problems that impede your enjoyment. Still, given how complex and multilayered this game is, and coupled with the sheer number of permutations and combinations there are for PC builds, you can still run into issues. That’s where we come in- in this guide, we walk you through some of the most common PC errors and fixes for Prey.

But first, the specifications:

MINIMUM:
OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit versions)
Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics: GTX 660 2GB, AMD Radeon 7850 2GB
Storage: 20 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit versions)

Mass Effect Andromeda is out now, at last- but it’s come out as one of the buggiest AAA game releases in a very long time, and certainly Bioware’s buggiest game release ever. There’s a lot of problems trying to get this game to run- and that’s before we even consider the PC version.

Once that’s thrown into the mix, you realize that you are running into all sorts of problems. Mass Effect Andromeda on PC has a whole lot of errors and glitches that you can run into. Fortunately, we’re here to help you sort them out. But first, the specs:

Sniper Elite 4, the newest game in Rebellion’s series (and the first to be self published by them) is finally out. It is, largely, a polished release, with little in the way of bugs and glitches, but if you are playing on the PC, there is still the small outside chance that you’ll run into some issues.

If that happens, however, then we’ve got you covered. This guide here will help you deal with a fair few of the technical errors and glitches you can run into while playing Sniper Elite 4 on PC. But first, the specs:

Minimum Sniper Elite 4 System Requirements

Operating System – Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit, or Windows 10 64-bit

Processor – Intel CPU Core i3-2100 or AMD equivalent

Memory – 4GB RAM

Video – AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2GB)

Internet – Steam account and internet connection required for activation. Broadband connection and service required for multiplayer connectivity.

Recommended Sniper Elite 4 System Requirements

Operating System – Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit, or Windows 10 64-bit

Processor – Intel CPU Core i7-3770 or AMD equivalent

Memory – 8GB RAM

Video – Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 970 / AMD GPU Radeon RX 480

Internet – Steam account and internet connection required for activation. Broadband connection and service required for multiplayer connectivity.

The game also supports DirectX 12 in addition to DirectX 11.

The same holds true of Sniper Elite 4 as well. If you are running into problems, maybe first attempt the following steps, and if they don’t work out, look into some of the more specific fixes we have below.

Make sure the drivers on your PC are updated

If you have two GPUs, make sure yo are using the discrete GPU instead of the integrated one

Set Sniper Elite 4‘s priority to High in the Task Manager

Turn off any background programs, including firewalls, chat clients, anti virus, video recorders, and overlays

Try lowering visual settings on the game to see if that improves game performance

GAME WON’T RUN

Attempt to run the game in Compatibility Mode

Attempt to run the game as an Admin

JITTERY SOUND

Turn off ‘Audio Reverb’ from the settings menu in the launcher

DIRECTX CRASH

SLI Crossfire setups won’t work with DirectX 12. Try running the game in DirectX 11, and/or with one card

FPS DROPS AND STUTTERING

Update your GPU drivers

Make sure background processes are suspended

Turn on V-Sync in the game’s settings menu

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Sniper Elite 4.

Some tech tips for Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil 7 is available now, at last- the new game is a return to form for the franchise, and a AAA realization of the kind of first person horror games that we have seen populating the indie game space a whole lot over the last few years, especially on PC. In other words, this is a game that feels right at home on PC- and the good thing is, the PC version of the game is generally pretty damn neat, too.

There are, of course, some problems- given just how many configurations there are for a PC build, that makes complete and total sense. That said, that isn’t much comfort to you if you happen to run into one of these issues. Thankfully, if that happens, we’ve got you covered. In this guide, we walk you through some of the most common errors that people face while playing Resident Evil 7 on PC, and demonstrate how to fix them.

But first, the specs necessary to run the game:

MINIMUM:

OS: WINDOWS® 7, 8, 8.1, 10 (64-BIT Required)

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 760 or AMD Radeon™ R7 260x with 2GB Video RAM

DirectX: Version 11

Storage: 24 GB available space

Sound Card: DirectSound compatible (must support DirectX® 9.0c or higher)

RECOMMENDED:

Watch Dogs 2 is a surprisingly competent PC port- actually given how horrific Ubisoft’s history is with PC ports, it’s a surprise this one came out as well as it did. Then again, maybe that makes sense- Ubisoft did delay it by a bit, claiming that they would take the extra time to optimize the game for PC. Well, they seem to have done that, and Watch Dogs 2‘s PC version largely appears to have come out for the better from that.

That said, there still are some problems that you may run into while playing the PC version of the game, and if you do, we’re here to help. This guide should help you troubleshoot some basic problems you are running into if you are trying to play the PC version of Watch Dogs 2.

But first, the specs:

MINIMUM:

OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64bit versions only)

Processor: Intel Core i5 2400s @ 2.5 GHz, AMD FX 6120 @ 3.5 GHz or better

Memory: 6 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 with 2 GB VRAM or AMD Radeon HD 7870, with 2 GB VRAM or better – See supported List*

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: 50 GB available space

Sound Card: DirectX compatible using the latest drivers

RECOMMENDED:

OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64bit versions only)

Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2 GHz, AMD FX 8120 @ 3.9 GHz

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 | AMD Radeon R9 290, with 3GB VRAM or better – See supported List*

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Some tech tips for Dishonored 2.

Dishonored 2 is a right old mess on PC- it’s poorly optimized, with crashes, bugs, glitches, frame rate drops, and more, all over the place. bethesda and Arkane have said that they are looking into the errors, and that there will be a patch issued to address these issues soon, which is great, because this is genuinely a fun game that deserves better than this.

But while we wait for the patch, I suppose, we need to try and get this game to work the best we can. That’s what we do in this guide- we’ve tried to list some common fixes for the game on PC that hopefully work for you too.

But first, the specs:

MINIMUM:

OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit versions)

Processor: Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB or better

Storage: 60 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

OS: Windows 10 (64-bit versions)

Processor: Intel Core i7-4770/AMD FX-8350 or better

Memory: 16 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB/AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB or better

Storage: 60 GB available space

Please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems that may arise or issues that may occur from trying the below. Always remember that official support is always the best support.

GENERAL FIXES

Okay, Dishonored 2‘s multitude of problems can generally be broken down to the game being poorly optimized and not working as it should. Now, there’s no targeted fix for a lot of these problems, but see if doing the following things helps you out:

Make sure the drivers on your PC are updated

If you have two GPUs, make sure yo are using the discrete GPU instead of the integrated one

Set Dishonored 2‘s priority to High in the Task Manager (apparently the game has a bug that almost always prevents this from being done)

Turn off any background programs, including firewalls, chat clients, anti virus, video recorders, and overlays

Disconnect from the internet

Lower the settings on the game:

Try the Auto presets, which should lower visual quality but maintain frame rate

Lower texture details

De-activate TXAA anti aliasing

INPUT LAG

Go to game settings, turn off Mouse Smoothness

GAME CRASHES

Windows 7 players are reporting random crashes for the game. To fix this:

Update your Windows with Windows6.1-KB2670838 patch

FRAME RATE DROPS AND STUTTERING

For Nvidia users only, open the Nvidia Control Panel, open the profile for Dishonored 2, and change “Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames” to 1. Also turn off Nvidia HBAO+.

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Dishonored 2.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s PC release is generally pretty stable and error free. But given the sheer variety of configurations available out there, with different hardware and software and settings, things are bound to get a bit messy sometimes.

You could find the game misbehaving or just generally giving you a hard time and getting in the way of you actually enjoying it, such as it is. Thankfully, most of these errors are standard, and fairly easy to resolve. In this guide below, we run through some of the most common Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare errors on PC, and we walk you through some basic steps to resolve them.

But first, the minimum requirements needed to run the game:

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit or later

Processor: Intel Core i3-3225 @ 3.30GHz or equivalent

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB / AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB

DirectX: Version 11

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Storage: 70 GB available space

Sound Card: DirectX 11 Compatible

Please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems that may arise or issues that may occur from trying the below. Always remember that official support is always the best support.

BLACK SCREEN UPON STARTUP

Make sure that you have the most current build of your OS.

Make sure you have the correct version of DirectX.

Make sure all the drivers are updated.

LOW FPS AND STUTTERING

Turn off any video recording software, overlays, and anti virus you may have on in the background

Go to your video card’s control panel, and set power management settings to Maximum Performance Preferred

Set the game’s exe itself to High Priority in the Task Manager

Run the game on lower settings

Run the game in Windowed mode

GAME CRASHES

Type Settings into Search, and go into Advanced Settings. Go to Adjust, click “Adjust the appearance and Performance of Windows.” Click the “Advanced” tab, then click “Change” on the Virtual Memory option at the bottom. Increase the Virtual Memory.

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Some tech tips for Gears of War 4 PC version.

Gears of War 4 is now out on Xbox One and PC, and unlike most previous Microsoft games on PC with their newest attempt, it’s actually a fairly good port that runs without much issues. But it is a high end PC game, and it is targeting a wide range of hardware, so there will naturally be some troubles and problems.

There’s not a whole lot in the way of errors this time- the few that there are are listed below with some suggested fixes, however, so you can try and address them as soon as possible, and get on with enjoying the game already.

But first, the required specs:

MINIMUM
OS: Windows 10 Anniversary Edition
DirectX: DirectX 12
CPU: i5 3470 @ 3.0GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 750 Ti
VRAM: 2 GB
RAM: 8 GB
HDD: 80 GB free
Monitor: 1920×1080

RECOMMENDED
OS: Windows 10 Anniversary Edition
DirectX: DirectX 12
CPU: i5 4690 @ 3.5GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 970 or GeForce GTX 1060
VRAM: 4 GB
RAM: 8 GB
HDD: 80 GB free
Monitor: 2560×1440

IDEAL
OS: Windows 10 Anniversary Edition
DirectX: DirectX 12
CPU: i7 4790 @ 4GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX 980 Ti or GeForce GTX 1080
VRAM: 6GB+
RAM: 16 GB
HDD: SSD with 80 GB free
Monitor: 3840×2160

Please be advised that the following methods are to be used at the sole discretion of the system owner. GamingBolt or its staff members take no responsibility for problems that may arise or issues that may occur from trying the below. Always remember that official support is always the best support.

Infinite Loading In Act 3, Chapter 5

A lot of players on PC and Xbox One are reporting that the game runs into an infinite loading loop in Chapter 5 of Act 3 of the game’s campaign, preventing further progress. Thankfully, this problem is easy to sidestep:

Do not build the player-mounted Turret fortification during this chapter

If you have already done so, restart the chapter from the beginning, and do not build the fortification this time

A proper fix for the issue is being developed in the meantime.

Windows Store Download Error 80070490

If you are running into this error in the Windows Store while trying to run the game, try the following steps:

Press Windows+R, and type in regedit.

Go to the following file:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\PackageVolumes

Right click. Go to DefaultVolumeKey, and modify it to 1.

Restart your download

Performance Issues

Gears of War 4 does not support Crossfire/SLI- however, even with a single GPU setup, players might find the performance of the game dropping. In such a case, The Coalition recommends navigating to the Nvidia Control Panel, and disabling SLI. Doing so should address the performance issues and framerate drops you may be suffering.

Lack of Textures

This issue manifests on PCs running the game at the lowest spec. If this occurs, restart the game.

Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Gears of War 4.
