Bethesda E3 Crowd

Audience plants in general are annoying. There’s polite applause and then there’s loud cheering for mundane announcements, which gets old quick. But Bethesda’s crowd took it to a whole other level, yelling and screaming after almost every sentence. It was a small contingent, for sure, but you just know that they had mics next to them to drown out any potential boos. Shout out to that one guy who cheered after every sentence. You earned your paycheck for sure.

Gearbox’s Paul Sage, who’s the creative director on Borderlands 3, was present at the PC Gaming Show to talk more about the game. Sage answered a number of questions from fans, including whether you could pet your gun in the game. The response?  “I’m not here to judge what you do with the guns. That’s a personal question.”

Other questions included whether Maya’s new companion was a Siren (which wasn’t answered, but Sage said “People are asking the right questions.”). We also heard about the Guardian System for the first time, which seems to offer passive bonuses like Badass Ranks in Borderlands 2. The key difference here is that all of your characters can benefit from the system, thus making leveling that much easier.

The level cap at launch will be 50, and it was also confirmed that Golden Keys and SHIFT Codes are in the game. Tiny Tina will also battle alongside the Vault Hunters, and duels will be returning. Can we expect other forms of PvP? “Yes and no,” said Sage. An interesting set of answers indeed. Check out the Q&A below, courtesy of hosts of the show, PC Gamer.

Borderlands 3 is out on September 13th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. You can check out Borderlands 2’s newest DLC, Commander Lilith and The Fight for Sanctuary, to see how the second game ties into the third. It’s free now until July 9th.

Ys Net have unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Shenmue 3, the highly-anticipated follow-up to the cult-classic series. Check it out below and marvel at Ryo’s martial arts prowess. However, perhaps more surprising is that several months before release, Ys Net has announced that the PC version will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store.

Over on Kickstarter, the development team said, “Development for Shenmue 3 has been moving forward using Unreal Engine and the support we have received from Epic has been excellent. But most importantly, in looking for the most enjoyable experience on PC, it was decided together with Deep Silver after much discussion that the Epic Games Store would be the best distribution platform option.”

This isn’t the first time that a crowd-funded title has suddenly shifted from Steam to the Epic Games Store – the same thing happened to Phoenix Point recently. Suffice it to say, the comments on the Kickstarter post for Shenmue 3 are not positive. We’ll see how this pans out for the game in the long run.

Shenmue 3 is still coming to the PlayStation 4 as well and was slated to arrive in August. However, it’s since been delayed to November 19th. More updates and announcements will be coming at the PC Gaming Show 2019, so stay tuned.

Following the success of Planet Coaster and Jurassic World Evolution, Frontier Developments is combining the two elements into the admittedly cute Planet Zoo. At the PC Gaming Show, it received a release date – November 5th for PC – and will also have a beta this Summer. Check out the first gameplay trailer below.

Animals are highly realistic – their mood changes over time and they’ll play when bored. The plan is to create the most authentic animals yet, as per game director Piers Jackson. Your decisions will affect how they react and ultimately deal with the various crowds that are visiting them.

Research and conversation are also important, so you’ll have your hands full trying to manage everything. Along with keeping the animals happy, you’ll have to hire staff, manage them, and keep the zoo in tip-top shape. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months, especially with the beta out this Summer.

Klei Entertainment’s Griftlands made an appearance at the PC Gaming Show, after essentially debuting in 2017 and disappearing. The excellent 2D art and sci-fi aesthetic still look as great as ever, but the development team has made some changes to the gameplay. Griftlands is now a card-battling RPG of sorts. Check it out below.

Along with 1v1 combat, there are battles involving parties as well. You’ll bring on mercenaries and pick up cards to perform different actions. Some of these cards will be used for conversational pieces as well – it’s possible to Threaten someone or Fast Talk them.

Interestingly, the alpha for Griftlands is coming very soon. It’s out on July 11th for the Epic Games Store, though it doesn’t seem like it will be removed from Steam. Perhaps the alpha will be exclusive to the former before its full launch? Stay tuned for more information, along with more announcements from the PC Gaming Show.

Sniper Elite developer Rebellion Developments finally unveiled its next big shooter, and it should be very familiar to zombie-killing players. It’s Zombie Army 4: Dead War, and it’s out in early 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Check out the first trailer below, and take heart in the fact that Nazi zombies are back.

Co-op support is included for up to four players with drop in and drop out support. Though there are snipers, you have three other classes to play as. You’ll also visit new locations, like Italy and even a zombie zoo. New skills, attacks, upgrades, and much more will be offered.

Even the series’ trademark X-Ray Cam returns, letting you murder zombies with fancy zoom-ins for head-splitting shots. What plans does Zombie Hitler have for Europe, and potentially the world? Of all the games to make an appearance at the PC Gaming Show, Mighty Kingdom’s Conan Chop Chop was perhaps the weirdest one to be showcased. As a rogue-lite action adventure title, it features overheard dungeon crawling and hack and slash combat that’s similar to old-school Zelda titles. Check it out below.

The aesthetic reminds us a bit of Castle Crashers and looks rather fetching, especially considering all the bloodshed that’s going on. Four player co-op support is included, and you can gather coins to pick up better weapons and items. Randomized maps, powerful bosses, and a strong selection of moves to master are all included.

Conan Chop Chop will be coming to Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch on September 3rd. A variety of warriors to choose from, quests to embark on, and a plot to save the world can all be expected. Stay tuned for more information from the PC Gaming Show as it rolls on.

Alpha gameplay footage for Hardsuit Labs’ Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 debuted at the PC Gaming Show. It’s dark, moody, and fairly intriguing, even if we don’t see a whole lot in terms of gameplay. Check it out for yourself below – the sequel is out in Q1 2020.

Players enter Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 as a newborn vampire, a Thinblood with special powers. Unfortunately, your very existence occurs due to an insurrection, where the Masquerade is disrupted and the world of vampires is at war. You can align with any of the different factions for different perks to suit your one play style.

Along with managing different relationships, players will need to manage their blood lust. You can read different emotional states for humans and drink their blood to attain different buffs. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC next year. Stay tuned for more announcements from the PC Gaming Show 2019.

Step aside Mordhau – Torn Banner Studios appeared at the PC Gaming Show and announced Chivalry 2. This time around, you’ll be burning houses, killing peasants, and taking the battle to other battles. Check out the bloody battles below for yourself.

Chivalry 2 will see some big changes and improvements to its combat. The developer has sought to revamp the combat, movement, and animation systems, allowing for more readable actions when fighting. It’s more satisfying when two knights go at it, but also more accessible.

There’s a quicker pace than before as well, allowing for more intense battles. The campiness of the series is still intact – you can beat a man with a chicken while quoting Shakespeare, for instance. Chivalry 2 is out in early 2020 and will be out first for the Epic Games Store on PC. Stay tuned for more details, especially with regards to when it will be on Steam (if at all).

Evil Genius 2, Rebellion’s follow-up to the Dungeon Keeper-esque Evil Genius, has received its first trailer at the PC Gaming Show 2019. It even received a subtitle in the process – Evil Genius 2: World Domination. Check it out for yourself below.

Among the many things showcased include the ability to hire and train henchmen, equip your base with laser traps, and even tanks full of sharks. Heroes will try to infiltrate your base – it’s your job to ensure that they don’t leave alive. Different evil geniuses can be selected from, and each will likely have their own perks and abilities.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination doesn’t have a release date, but it’s currently slated for PC. A closed beta is seemingly on the way and you can sign up for a chance to win access.
