Atlus have announced that Persona Super Live 2019, their annual Persona concert, will be livestreamed this year, through NicoNico (restricted only to NicoNico Premium members), as well as the official Persona Twitter page. The concert runs from April 24th to 25th in Tokyo.

While the concert will, of course, be host to live performances of songs from soundtracks heard in Persona games, the event has also seen several major Persona announcements made in recent years. This year, April 24 will see Atlus pulling back the curtain on Persona 5: The Royal, while on April 25th, they’ll be formally unveiling Persona 5 S, which has been long rumoured to be a Nintendo Switch version of Persona 5.

More recent rumours have also pegged Persona 5: The Royal as an enhanced version of Persona 5 that will be exclusive to the PS4, and Persona 5 S as a Switch version of the base game with Nintendo-exclusive features. Read more about that through here.

Persona 5 R is… something, related to Persona 5, that was announced at the end of last year, with basically no information whatsoever. Atlus billed it as “a collection of Persona 5 related projects”, and confirmed it will be on PlayStation 4 (though the widely rumored Switch port of Persona 5 is expected to be part of this umbrella as well), but we don’t actually know what it is. An enhanced re-release? A fighting game spin-off? A racing game spin-off? …A clothing line?

Well, we should know more about it tomorrow, because Atlus confirmed on its official Twitter account that it will be sharing more information regarding Persona 5 R tomorrow, after the airing of the Stars and Ours anime special, as had been previously promised.

Now, it’s important to note here that the exact nature of information isn’t specified or promised—it could just be another tease for the Sega Fes event already announced for the end of the month, or it could be a tease for the Persona Super Live concert announced for next month. Atlus is known for torturing fans with teases and long-drawn announcements—so prepare yourselves.

Shin Megami Tensei 5

As the first Shin Megami Tensei title exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, Shin Megami Tensei 5 will focus on contemporary issues like unemployment, terrorism and so on. Its gameplay will still feature demons but there’s also the post-apocalyptic twist, as the recent trailer showcased Tokyo in ruins. Shin Megami Tensei 5 will take longer to develop than the previous handheld iterations thanks to Atlus taking advantage of the Switch’s hardware so here’s hoping it’s worth the wait.

Persona 5 R, which has been in the news a great deal lately, has been officially revealed by Atlus with a short teaser trailer, with an official website for the game also going up. What’s interesting is that the teaser doesn’t really confirm anything other than the fact that the game exists- so we have no way of knowing, at least for now, whether this really is coming to the Nintendo Switch, like earlier leaks suggested it would. The teaser is also accompanied with a PlayStation logo (and a PlayStation logo only), which is quite interesting.

The teaser (as well as the official website) mentions that more information will be revealed in March of 2019, just three months from now. It’s worth noting that it explicitly states that more information will be revealed for “new projects”, which means that Atlus is gearing up to announce multiple new projects related to Persona 5. That, of course, is something Atlus did with Persona 4 as well, with the fighting game Persona 4 Arena and the rhythm game Persona 4 Dancing All Night – though a rhythm counterpart for Persona 5 has already been released.
