That said, the Allies and Axis Powers will never be on the same team.

Call of Duty: World War 2 looks to be a return to the franchise’s roots, at least as far as the setting goes- however, it sounds like the game will also be taking cues from classic Call of Duty titles by letting players play from a multitude of different nations in multiplayer mode.

“Yes. WWII was a global conflict with multinational forces on both sides. We’re focused on the European theater, with a diverse ensemble cast of playable MP nations,” Michael Condrey confirmed on the game’s sub-Reddit.

That said, he did confirm that while you can play as multiple different nations, players who are playing as the Allies will never be teamed up with players playing as the Axis Powers- a team will only be composed of one or the other, but never both. Which… I guess that sounds sensible enough? I don’t see why anyone would complain about this.

Call of Duty: World War 2 is due out this November on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Two talented parties teaming up to deliver one of the best games of the year.

Earlier this week, Platinum’s famously colourful Hideki Kamiya tweeted about how Yoko Taro of Square Enix, whom Platinum collaborated with on NieR Automata, had managed to ‘save’ Platinum. Kamiya candidly admitted that the success of NieR had been important for their studio, thanking Toro for his support.

Now, Toro has responded in kind, tweeting back that he is honoured to have received the chance to work with Platinum Games, and thanking them for their help and support in helping him realize his vision for Automata.

In the end, I think we can all agree that both parties were essential in Automata turning out to be what it is (which is, incredibly awesome)- it was Taro’s insane vision, and Platinum’s talent in realizing it, that has made Automata one of the best games of the year in a year full of great games. NieR Automata is out now on PS4 and PC.
