Nintendo have officially announced that they will be launching a Pink 3DS XL in the United Kingdom on May 31st of this year.

Nintendo have stated that the new hardware will provide “newcomers to the Nintendo 3DS XL experience with more options than ever before.”

The new Pink 3DS XL will be coming before the special edition of Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS XL which is dated for June 14th, 2013. The Blue 3DS XL and the release of Fire Emblem: Awakening has helped Nintendo with their 3DS hardware sales and has seen an increase of 49% since last week.

At their TGS press conference, Nintendo admitted that their newest handheld, the 3DS, attracts a lot of males, and little females. To change that, Nintendo has announced a new colour for the system- it’s pink.

It releases in Japan on October 20 this year, but no release date for western audiences was given.

That makes it four colours for the 3DS- Cosmo Black, Aqua Blie, the recent announced Flame Red, and now pink.

A lot of other info on the 3DS and its upcoming releases was given earlier today. Monster Hunter 4, for example, is a 3DS exclusive, and Nintendo also gave info on the second analog pad add-on.
