Hoping for more PixelJunk!

Q-Games, the folks behind the excellent PixelJunk games, are apparently teasing something for this week. In a tweet, they have shared a video promising ‘big news’ for the week of November 20-25. Amusingly enough, the video they posted actually promised a reveal for November 2018, something that was pointed out on Twitter, which caused them to clarify they definitely meant a reveal for this week, this year.

As for what the tease could be about- we don’t actually know yet, and we don’t have much to go by. Maybe it’s a new PixelJunk game, or it could be something else entirely. Whatever it is, it is likely to be PlayStation exclusive- they have stuck with exclusivity for Sony’s consoles for the last several years now, and we have no immediate reason to believe that might have changed. Actually, now that I think about it- what if it’s a PlayStation VR project?

Whatever it is, we should find out soon- and when we do, we’ll be the first to let you know.

Unexpected partnership

Q Games is a well known studio for creating the ‘PixelJunk’ games during the early to mid life of the PlayStation 3. Meanwhile, Double Eleven is a studio that developed popular titles such as the recently released Limbo and LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita.

According to GamesIndustry International it has been announced that Double Eleven and Q Games will be partnering up together to develop future game projects.

Here is what Dylan Cuthbert from Q Games had to say regarding the partnership with Double Eleven:

“Double Eleven has an outstanding track record in video game development, and we like their way of thinking when it comes to publishing,” said Q Games president Dylan Cuthbert. “[We’re] about making memorable experiences for everyone, and Double Eleven are the perfect partner to see our vision through.” According to Double Eleven COO Mark South, it’s “pretty clear that we would hugely complement each other’s plans for making great games.”

Here is a hope that something awesome will be made for Vita and maybe even PlayStation 4. Let us know how you feel about this in the comments below.

Q-Games has announced that it is working on a new Pixeljunk title, currently codenamed ‘Pixeljunk 1-6′, signifying the fact that this is Q-Games’ sixth Pixeljunk title.

The game is set for release next year, and is being developed for the PC exclusively. Q-Games has released a first screenshot of the game too. It’s posted above.

“We’ve decided to reveal all in our new exciting blog about our next PixelJunk title,” Q-Games head Dylan Cuthbert said in the official statement. “You’ll see how feature ideas seemingly materialize out of thin air and which ones make the cut.”

“People will see what an indie studio looks like completely exposed to the wind,” added lead designer Rowan Parker.”PixelJunk fans are welcome to jump in and comment on what they like most, to help shape the course of PixelJunk 1-6!”

You can have more info on the game on its blog here.
