Some much needed buffs to existing Frames are coming.

Digital Extremes is prepping a fairly significant update for Warframe’s Plains of Eidolon, the free open world expansion that launched for the free to play title last year. Shrine of the Eidolon will bring two new Eidolon bosses to fight – the Gantulyst and Hydrolyst. Check them out below.

Gantulyst can fire beams of energy and wields a boulder for an arm while the Hydrolyst seems to channel the Toxin element along with creating storms. These Eidolons have a chance to drop Riven Transmuters which can combine four Riven mods into a brand new Riven. If you combine Rivens of the same type (two Melee mods for instance), then the new Riven will be the same.

Oh, and you can also drive Dargyns on the Plains to fight the Eidolons from the skies. If that weren’t enough, sweeping changes to weapons (including changes to Mastery Rank requirements) and Warframes like Atlas, Ash, Ember, Volt, Zephyr, Gara, Banshee and Chroma.

Players will stand a chance to gain Uncommon and Rare items in the later stages of Bounties.

Warframe’s Plains of Eidolon will be receiving a very important update soon that should make Bounties more rewarding for players. Coinciding with the launch of Operation: Plague Star, a limited time event with special rewards, Bounties will now grant rewards based on the developer’s current AABC rotation used in Endless missions.

This means that for, say, a five stage bounty, players will have a chance at Common items in the first stage. The second and third stages can yield Common or Uncommon items while the fourth and fifth stages can grant Common, Uncommon and Rare items. Each stage will give you a reward though which is a big-step up from how Bounties worked at launched.

Community manager Rebecca Ford also noted that, “We have slightly re-balanced the quantities of some of the rewards as we tested numerous Bounties with these changes. Right now this only applies to select items. Plains of Eidolon specific reward quantities are untouched (i.e it could be possible to get 25 x Breath of the Eidolon in a single 5 Stage Bounty or 6 Cetus Wisps in a 5 Stage Bounty).”

Though there may not be a ton in store for end-game players, it’s still a nice way to earn Kuva and Oxium along with the new mod sets (despite how awful some of them may be). Plains of Eidolon is also available to PS4 and Xbox One players though more information on the release of Operation: Plague Star for console owners is still to come.

Console players finally get a chance to explore Warframe's first true open world region.

Digital Extremes’ highly anticipated update for Warframe, the Plains of Eidolon, is finally live for Xbox One and PS4 players. It’s the first open world region for the third person action title and will presumably be the first of many to arrive in the coming years.

Plains of Eidolon introduces the player to the town of Cetus and Ostrons who are attempting to eke out a peaceful existence. You’ll take up bounties for Cetus and seek to wipe out the Grineer who have taken up residence on the Plains. Along with a new Warframe called Gara that can be earned in a quest, Plains of Eidolon introduces a rework for the Focus system, a greater emphasis on the Operator, battles against large enemies known as Teralysts and much more.

To make things even better, a new event called Operation: Plague Star is going live later this week for the Plains of Eidolon on PC. That means Infested Zaw Components, the return of Snipetron and mods like Sacrifice and Fulmination, and much more. Head here for more details

The huge open world update will finally arrive for Xbox One and PS4 next week.

Digital Extremes’ biggest update yet for Warframe is finally coming to consoles…on November 14th. This was confirmed in a new tweet by the developer so if you were hoping it would drop by this weekend, we feel your pain.

Plains of Eidolon launched in October for PC players and offered the first sprawling open world to explore in the game’s history. This was further augmented by changes to the Focus system, a new Warframe called Gara, new activities like mining and fishing, boss battles against enormous Teralysts and much more.

Of course, the update saw severe issues with bugs, its economy, insane amounts of grinding and whatnot. Digital Extremes has addressed a number of these with a constant stream of hotfixes that have been coming since Plains of Eidolon launched. If nothing else, PS4 and Xbox One players will get a much more refined experience next week compared to PC players.

Digital Extremes continues to patch the Plains, improve its new Frame and much more.

Digital Extremes continues to hammer away on Warframe’s newest update Plains of Eidolon, issuing hotfix after hotfix to improve the overall economy and progression of the open world. The newest hotfix 22.0.5 targets fishing and allows bait blueprints to be reused.
Prior to this, players had to grind Cetus standing, purchase the blueprint, craft the bait and so on to fish properly.

The hotfix also makes it so that certain fish have an increased chance of spawning when using the right bait. Other changes include increasing the damage that the basic Amp does for Operators, improving enemy spawn points and navigation, further optimizing mining and even changing new Warframe Gara’s Mass Vitrify so that it travels downwards and covers enemies at the bottom of slopes.

Thus far Plains of Eidolon has had severe growing pains but it’s been roughly a week and the amount of Cetus standing from Bounties, Incursions, gems and whatnot have been improved. We’ll find out if Plains of Eidolon is worth sticking with in the coming weeks, especially for new players. Check out the full patch notes for the hotfix below.

Digital Extremes continues to tune its massive new open world with changes and fixes.

Digital Extremes’ Warframe received Plains of Eidolon, its huge open world update, last week and while the response has been somewhat positive, there’s been plenty of feedback regarding numerous issues. Players have complained about the lacklustre rewards for bounties along with the meager amount of standing obtained from fishing, mining and collecting Cores.

The developer has heard many of these concerns and released a hotfix to tune the economy for Plains of Eidolon along with fixing many bugs. It noted that further changes could arrive based on learning the systems inherent in the update along with listening to feedback.

Until then, the requirements for crafting the Sky Archwing Launcher have been lowered significantly, standing has been increased for Sentient Cores turned into the Quills and much more. Of course, some features like auras that affect enemy shields having an affect on the Teralysts have been changed as well. You can check out a portion of the patch notes below.

Plains of Eidolon: Hotfix 22.0.3

Additions:

Added new objective UI text to Mobile Defense missions and Vor’s Prize to be more descriptive and consistent.

Added an area kill marker for Plains Assassinate general area once the mission starts.

Plains of Eidolon: Hidden Cache Mission Changes:

Caches in the Plains are now scannable, meaning they will show up when using Scanners.

Increased the minimum timer to find the Caches from 1:20 to 2:40, and the maximum timer from 2:40 to 3:00.

Increased the sound radius of the hidden Caches.

Plains of Eidolon: Reward & Economy Changes/Fixes:

Here is the first round of changes to aspects of the new economy! We’ll continue to iterate as time is spent learning the systems and feedback is given on the experience. We’re still looking for that sweet spot of what amount of time is fair to ‘complete’ everything this massive update had to offer, but as we all have different play schedules it will continue to be tuned!

The Cetus Standing earned from Bounties and Incursions has been doubled in all cases (i.e all levels of bounties doubled from their former values).

Reduced the maximum downtime between Incursions from 6 minutes to 5 minutes.

Reduced Sky Archwing Launcher Blueprint crafting requirements:
100 Iradite to 50 Iradite
150 Fish Oil to 50 Fish Oil
1200 Circuits to 600 Circuits

Significantly reduced Sky Archwing Launcher Blueprint build time.

Removed Ayatan Stars and Uncommon Resources from High Level Bounties and replaced with 100x Void Traces.

Low Level Bounties will continue to have rewards that target interests of a newer player who might not have some Mods that veterans do.

Reassigned Blueprint values for gems:

Common and Uncommon Gems are now built in batches of 10.

Rare Gems are now built in batches of 6.

Eidolon Gems are now built in batches of 3.

The Quills Standing increases (Flawless Sentient Cores remains the same for now):

Increased Intact Sentient Cores from 25 Standing to 100 Standing.

Increased Exceptional Sentient Cores from 400 Standing to 500 Standing.

Fixed not receiving a listed reward from a Bounty after completing it the first time. However,

Cetus Standing is still only gained for the first completion of each Bounty.

General Plains of Eidolon Changes:

The Teralyst will now no longer be affected by Auras that manipulate its max Health and max Shields.

Vendors in Cetus now appear in orange on the mini map.

Dropped Sentient Shards now float to improve visibility.

Removed the ‘Owned’ tag on Rivens linked in Chat.

Adjusted Supply Crate Health to better match Bounty level in the Plains.

Reduced the brightness of the lens flares used on the Lanka.

The Profile now displays Cetus and Quills Standing separately.

Tweaked the Operator arm animations when shooting an Amp so it’s not so different from other aim directions.

When attempting to leave the Plains and enter Cetus, players who are downed/AFK will now be teleported to the gate. This fixes having to abort mission from the Plains due to not being able to re-enter Cetus.

Polished the animations for Vazarin’s Guardian Shell to reduce head swaying when jogging.
Tweaked the volume of Operator Amps and added sound effects to the charge up.

Eidolon Lures now have a max level of 30.

Grineer Dropships, Skiffs, and Bombers are no longer included in the ‘kill enemies’ objectives.

Lowered Tusk Bomber Armor from 450 to 225 and lowered base Health from 4500 to 3500.

Tweaked Frost’s Snowglobe FX to better respect night time lighting in the Plains as mentioned here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/comments/76n5z3/de_im_loving_the_update_but_you_did_something_to/

Convergence Orbs will no longer spawn on enemies in the air.

Mortar damage and radius reduced while a number of bugs and crash issues have been fixed.

Digital Extremes’ Warframe has finally received its open world update Plains of Eidolon and brings a bunch of new activities like mining, fishing, Teralyst hunting, spelunking and much more. Over 3 GB in size, the update marks a big step forward for the free to play shooter.

Of course, it’s not without its issues. Players quickly found issues with missions involving a hijacked drone that could be difficult since they had to stick right next to it (the amount of health it had didn’t help either). Then there was the damage caused by Mortars, bugs that would cause the game to crash or just be stuck at a certain screen, and enemy weaponry being a little too accurate. Thankfully, these have been adjusted in hotfix 22.0.2, the notes of which you can find here.

To make things even better, the new Warframe Gara now requires Orokin Cells to craft as opposed to Kuva, which is a resource that new players would have a pretty difficult time procuring in the first place. After all the Plains of Eidolon update is meant for beginners as much as veterans.

Check out some of the hotfix’s big changes below and let us know what you think of the update in the comments below.

Plains of Eidolon: Hotfix 22.0.2

Additions:

Added more details to Zenuriks Energizing Dash description to better clarify how it functions.

Plains Drone Hijack Changes & Fixes:

Added UI icons to match current objective markers at all stages.

Hijacked Drone now scales in Health by the # of players.

Replaced the yellow diamond marker at extraction with the white NPC extraction marker used in Defection missions.

Increased the Hijacked Drones move radius. Players must now be within 30 meters of Drone for it to move to objective (was 10 meters).

Reduced Lotus transmissions when reinforcements are called in to destroy the Hijacked Drone.

Fixed an issue where if more than one Drone Hijack Incursion was played, the previous Incursion’s Drone destination was marked as the new Incursion’s Drone

destination and the Drone moved to an unmarked location.

Mortar and Bombard Enemy Changes:

Drastically reduced the AoE damage from 150 to 40 for Mortar projectiles.

Reduced the Impact damage of the Mortar Bombard mortars from 25 to 17 and AoE damage reduced from 50 to 25.

Reduced the Impact damage of Bomber bombs from 25 to 20, AoE damage from 35 to 30, and AoE radius from 15 to 12.

Reduced the Impact damage of Bomber rockets from 15 to 12 and AoE damage from 20 to 17.

Reduced the Armor of Bombers from 500 to 450 and Health reduced from 5000 to 4500.

Changes

Replaced Gara’s Blueprint requirement of Kuva with Orokin Cells.

Increased Endo Bounty rewards at highest tiers – we will continue to monitor and balance the economy (rewards and costs). Worry not, Tenno!

Vor’s Prize will now appear as “Completed” in the Codex for players that chose to skip it back in the day. This was causing confusion on prerequisites for Saya’s Vigil – it wasn’t stopping progression, just adding confusion.

Updated an old Waypoint used in Stolen Dreams and The New Strange quests which was missing an in-world marker and yellow tint, this may have caused some confusion as all missions use the in-world marker now.

Included a small optimization for Relay/Cetus CPU for high players counts.

Adjusted the positioning, size, and hit radius of the Iradite Resource in the Plains.

Lowered Eidolon Drone hijack marker’s minimum range from 40 meters to 5 meters.

Adjusted the weaponry of the Skiffs and Tusk Dargyn’s in the Plains to not be so accurate.

Operator’s first Amp will now properly strip resistances.

The Focus School selection screen will now appear on login if a player has completed Second Dream but doesn’t have a Focus ability selected yet. This should also fix people stuck in the War Within quest or The Second Dream quest.

Removed the ‘Exit’ button from the End of Mission Failed screen upon dying in the Plains. This fixes clicking ‘Exit’ resulting in a screen lock and having to close the game.

Increased the Grineer Dropship Turrets base Armor from 50 to 100 and increased Turret base Health from 600 to 650.

To reduce unintended Transference movement chaining, one can only use Transference once after a jump and must land before being able to use Transference again.

End of mission Endo rewards will now appear as a sum instead of multiples (ex. 200 Endo as opposed to 50 Endo x 4).

Increased the context action of Grineer Caches from Incursions/Bounties in the Plains.

Digital Extremes' huge free update will be coming to PC users in the next few hours.

PC users be ready – Warframe’s Plains of Eidolon update will be releasing today. Digital Extremes’ ambitious open world update for the free to play shooter was earmarked to release before or after its next devstream. It turns out that it’s coming before then. Way before, as a matter of fact.

Community manager Rebecca Ford noted in an official forum post that, “We are planning on launching Plains of Eidolon on PC today.” The thread itself would offer status updates and Ford invited players to stick around “and join us as we wrap things up with the goal to deploy today.” Of course, there could be hiccups that delay the release but for the most part, the developer seems ready to go live today.

Plains of Eidolon adds a ton of new content to Warframe with a larger open world, a new social space complete with new vendors and quest givers, a day/night cycle that offers varying difficulties and rewards depending on the time, mining, fishing, a rework for the Focus system, a new Warframe called Gara (with her quest Saya’s Vigil launching alongside the update) and much more. Though it’s out today on PC, console players will have to wait till November.

The free to play shooter's biggest update yet is nearly upon us.

Digital Extremes is finally closing in on releasing Warframe’s most ambitious update yet – Plains of Eidolon which brings an open world environment to the free to play title for the first time. Details have been sketchy on when exactly it releases (aside from “this week” of course) but we could be hitting the home stretch.

According to community manager Rebecca Ford in a new forum post, the 99th devstream for the game will take place on October 13th at 2 PM ET. Ford noted that the team is “hoping” the update will be out for PC before the stream takes place. If it arrives after the stream, then the developer will share update notes live with players. Either way, more than 3 GB of content is expected.

Warframe’s Plains of Eidolon update brings quite a lot to the table. Aside from the huge open landscape with its own day/night cycle, the Focus system has seen a rework to make Operators more combat-oriented, huge beasts called Eidolon exist to be hunted, weapon crafting is coming and much more.

How long can you expect to be hunting the Eidolon in Warframe's next update?

Digital Extremes is still pretty tight-lipped on when Warframe’s Plains of Eidolon expansion, which is set to arrive this week for PC players, will exactly be releasing. Odds are it will be out on Friday, especially since it was a holiday in Canada for the studio.

Still, that doesn’t mean there isn’t enough interesting information to glean. On the official website for Plains of Eidolon, Digital Extremes actually revealed how long the open world area’s day/night cycle would last. Time will pass in the same manner for every player with the day lasting 100 real world minutes while the night is 50 minutes.

What’s so special about this? In Plains of Eidolon, content in the day time is actually easier to handle and will be good for beginning players. By contrast, the night time will be fraught with tougher bounties and the titular Eidolon to hunt. Obviously this content will be better suited for veterans.

Stay tuned for more information on when Plains of Eidolon goes live for Warframe. It won’t be long now.
