"I think we'll be able to show you a new FromSoftware in a variety of ways, so please look forward to it," said Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Elden Ring and its expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, have been massively successful for developer FromSoftware, but what’s next? According to president and CEO Hidetaka Miyazaki, the studio has “multiple projects in the works” across “a wide variety of genres.”

While accepting the Grand Award for Shadow of the Erdtree during the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia, Miyazaki said (via GAME Watch), “We have multiple projects running, and they are in a wide variety of genres. Some of them are directed by me, while others are handled by others. I think we’ll be able to show you a new FromSoftware in a variety of ways, so please look forward to it.”

What those projects could be is anyone’s guess. Fans have clamored for a Bloodborne remaster/remake/sequel over the year, but given the success of Elden Ring, you would have to wonder if FromSoftware would prioritize a follow-up. Then there’s Armored Core, with the recent entry, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, selling over three million units worldwide. It wouldn’t be surprising if the developer sought another mainline title in the coming years.

The news is also intriguing due to reports of Sony wanting to acquire Kadokawa Corporation, FromSoftware’s parent company (which the latter confirmed it received a letter of intent about). Whether this will impact the former’s desire to acquire Kadokawa remains to be seen, so stay tuned.
