As recent datamining leaks had suggested, The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have announced an epilogue for the expansion. The conclusion to The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will take players back to the Land of Kitakami, which is where The Teal Mask was set, though further details are unknown. Will we see new Pokemon? How long will the epilogue be? All of that remains to be seen (though the aforementioned leaks did suggest new Pokemon are around the corner).

The epilogue to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will be available on January 11, 2024. Until then, you can check out its announcement trailer below.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon from previous titles return, and you can also teach Koraidon or Miraidon how to fly. The latter requires completing Amarys’s Elite Trial and is only temporary, but a permanent option awaits later. There’s also the Synchro Machine, where players can see the world through a Pokemon’s eyes. You can explore and battle with them, providing a new perspective on the series’ formula.

Finally, along with snacks that used to encounter Legendary Pokemon in Paldea, there’s also a new nineteenth Tera Type to discover, but further details are being kept a secret. It allows players to synchronize with a Pokemon and play from their perspective, including participating in battles. Another new feature is the ability to fly, with Koraidon and Miraidon earning this temporarily after completing the Elite Trial from Amarys. You have to progress further in the story for permanent flight, though.

Finally, there’s Snacksworth, who appears at Blueberry after completing the story. If you complete Blueberry Quests, you receive snacks. These can be used to meet specific Legendary Pokemon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk launches on December 14th for Nintendo Switch. It’s included with the Expansion Pass for $34.999.

Blueberry Academy focuses on Pokemon battles as players explore the Terrarium and its four biomes. Each artificial environment offers different Pokemon to fight and capture, which includes several returning Pokemon not present in the base game. Once players have cut their teeth, they can challenge the Blueberry League’s Elite Four. Perhaps a new Champion awaits as well.

Players will venture to Kitakami on a school trip, with a festival underway. However, various folktales exist, and it’s not long before players encounter a new Legendary Pokemon, Ogerpon. There’s also The Loyal Three – Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti. You can play the new quest alongside the base game’s Treasure Hunt.

The story continues in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk, which launches this Winter and sees players becoming exchange students at Blueberry Academy. You explore the Terrarium and its four artificial biomes, eventually challenging the Elite Four of the Blueberry League.

Additional Pokémon

• For Trainers who have not purchased The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, additional Pokémon may appear via local or online communication modes.

Newly Added Features

• You will now be able lock the mini map that appears while you are out in the field so that up is always north. You can do this by pressing the Right Stick twice while you have the map app open to select the App and mini maps locked setting.
• Camera settings have been added to the Options menu. These settings will let you adjust how the camera works while you are out in the field.
• We have added a feature that allows you to signal a Pokémon accompanying you in the field to stop and wait where it is. To give this signal, press the Left Stick.
• You can now take pictures by pressing the A Button in the camera app.
• You can now play music by pressing the ZL Button or ZR Button while the camera app is open. You may find that Pokémon accompanying you in the field and people around you will react to the music.
• While using the Union Circle, Trainers can now share photos they have taken with the camera app during that Union Circle session with the friends they are playing with.
• We have added a feature to TM Machines that allows you to filter for moves your Pokémon can learn.
• By interacting with a TM Machine and selecting the option to filter for learnable moves, you will be able to display only TMs containing moves that a specific Pokémon can learn.

Bug Fixes and Feature Adjustments

• Incorrect descriptive text for the moves Ceaseless Edge, Dire Claw, and Stone Axe has been corrected. The descriptions for these moves previously included the words “aiming to land a critical hit,” but these moves do not increase the critical-hit ratio in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. This wording has been removed from these descriptions.
• We have fixed a bug where the Itemfinder Mark would not be applied to a Pokémon even if the conditions were met.
• Wild Pokémon that have the Titan Mark will now reappear in the field after a certain amount of time if they have been defeated.
• We have made adjustments to the way Pokémon icons are displayed in the Boxes.
• Other select bug fixes have been implemented.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will be adding over 230 Pokemon to the base game’s Pokedex, many of which have now been confirmed to be starter Pokemon from past generations. The trailer, which you can view below, showcases the likes of Totodile, Chicorita, Chimchar, Squirtle, Mudkip, Treecko, Snivy, and more.

Four new moves will also be added to the game with the expansion- Psychic Noise, which deals damage and prevents your opponent from healing; Upper Hand, which strikes before an opponent’s priority move; Thunderclap, which strikes before a target’s attack; and Tachyon Cutter, which is guaranteed to hit twice in a row.

Meanwhile, the type matchups for the expansion’s two new Paradox Pokemon will be, with Raging Bolt confirmed as an Electric/Dragon type and Iron Crown confirmed as a Steel/Psychic type. Check out the trailer below for more details.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is set to release in two parts, with Part 1: The Teal Mask launching on September 13 and Part 2: The Indigo Disk arriving sometime this Winter. On September 1, a Mewtwo Tera Raid will also be added to the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet base game.

Part 1: The Teal Mask will take players to a region outside of Paldeo, the land of Kitakami, which is protected by three Pokemon who are considered to be heroes by the local population. Players will meet new characters and learn more about Kitakami’s history and culture. Meanwhile, Part 2: The Indigo Disk will take you to the Blueberry Academy as an exchange student on its headmaster’s invitation. The academy, which is almost entirely underwater, will also feature a new open world area known as the Terrarium, which will consist of four artificially made unique biomes.

Plenty of new activities have also been unveiled, including an Elite Four in Blueberry Academy, a new minigame called Ogre Ousting that will task you with riding through and popping Ogre balloons for rewards (which you can use to strengthen your Pokemon and their different stats), a quest that’ll see you tracking down and photographing several different Pokemon, and more. A couple of new Pokemon, several new locations, and of course, plenty of battles are also shown. Check out the trailer below for more details.

The Pokemon Company has also confirmed that Part 1: The Teal Mask will launch on September 13. A specific release date for Part 2: The Indigo Disk still hasn’t been revealed, but as confirmed previously, it will launch sometime during Winter.

The first part of the expansion, The Teal Mask, will be set in a festival area in the countryside, while the second part, The Indigo Disk, will take players to a completely new location, which will also feature a futuristic academy. The trailer offers a look at both areas, while also offering glimpses of some of the Pokemon and characters you’ll be running into in the expansions. Check it out below.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero – Part 1: The Teal Mask will launch sometime in this Fall, while Part 2: The Indigo Disk will follow sometime this Winter. More details on the expansion’s contents will be shared “at a later date”, according to Nintendo.

How many of those will be known species that weren’t included in Scarlet and Violet and how many will be completely new additions remains to be seen, but at least one of the new additions has been revealed- or at least partially revealed.

The Pokemon Company has shared an image of a new Pokemon that will be introduced in the DLC. Described as having “splendid aura” that is “reminiscent of the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos”, its “name and true nature are shrouded in mystery.” Check out the image below.

According to The Pokemon Company, the Pokemon is “small in stature and not particularly strong”, but can “crystallize the energy in its body to form a protective shield” if it senses danger. It can also “assume a dormant state when it feels that its life is in danger by pulling its head, limbs, and tail into its shell and making itself look like a jewel.”

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch. The Hidden Area of Treasure Zero: Part 1 – The Teal Mask will launch this Fall, and The Hidden Area of Treasure Zero: Part 2 – The Indigo Disk will launch this Winter. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, being RPGs, means that players are quite likely losing hundreds of hours of progress, including finding rare things like shiny Pokemon. Some players have even reported that just purchasing the latest DLC has caused them to lose progress.

The DLC, dubbed The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, was announced earlier this year. As part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, players will get access to two DLC: The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk. The Teal Mask will include several additional Pokemon, including Okidogi, Munkidori, and Feandipiti.

While available for purchase right now, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is set to get its first DLC release in Fall with The Teal Mask. The Indigo Disk is slated for release in Winter.
