It’s delightfully bizarre, but as studio founder/CEO Luca Galante told Xbox Wire, “This is just a spin-off of Vampire Survivors – hopefully the first in a series of spin-offs! The idea is to take some of the core pillars behind the development of VS and to apply them to existing genres. I’m talking about accessibility, immediacy, affordability, replayability, and sparkly stuff. Tons of sparkly stuff!”

So it’s not a sequel, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something sequel-related in the works. “With regards to a sequel to Vampire Survivors, we’re working on something, but we’re not talking about that just yet.”

When will it be released? What form will it take? All questions remain up in the air for now and likely for a long time. Nevertheless, it could mark a radical transformation for the franchise, much like when Risk of Rain and Enter the Gungeon transitioned to 3D for their sequels. Results for the latter remain to be judged, but the former has done quite well for itself, especially with the new Alloyed Collective expansion.

As for Vampire Crawlers, it’s releasing in early to mid-2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android.

These include DON’T NOD, Hooded Horse, Thunderful, Thunder Lotus, Serenity Forge, Skybound Entertainment, Raw Fury, Pathea, Wired Digital, poncle, and Cult Games. The appearing titles have yet to be confirmed, but we could see the likes of The Lonesome Guild and Aphelion, the former published by DON’T NOD and out later this month. The latter is developed by the same and launching in 2026.

Hooded Horse could showcase Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, which was suddenly delayed to next year, while Serenity Forge may showcase its horror farming title, Fractured Blooms. How many of these will be available for Game Pass on day one? Time will tell, so stay tuned for more details.

In a thread on social media platform X, Poncle elaborated that the legal issue comes from the developer needing to share the information of the partners that it works with in order to enable cross-save. Because of this, chances of the feature ever making it to the PS4 and PS5 “are now very slim.”

“We’re sorry to say won’t be able to bring the Vampire Survivors Cross-Save feature to PlayStation 4/5 alongside our next update,” wrote Poncle on X. “Last month, we told everyone that Cross-Save would be available on PlayStation 4/5, PC, Xbox, Android and iOS alongside our next free [Vampire Survivors] update in April”

“But at last minute, we’ve run into a legal issue on PlayStation we weren’t aware of that requires us to share info on our partners that we’re unable to. The chances of Cross-Save coming to PlayStation consoles are now very slim.”

However, Poncle has said that it’s not completely impossible. Because of this, it is continuing to work with PlayStation to sort these issues out.

“We’re so sorry to build up any anticipation for this feature on PlayStation only to change plans at the last minute,” wrote the developer.

Despite problems faced in bringing cross-save to PS4 and PS5, other versions of the game – PC, Xbox, Android and iOS – will still be getting the feature in an update over the next few weeks. Even the Nintendo Switch version of Vampire Survivors will get the update in a later update. The Apple Arcade version might get cross-save too.

The PS4 and PS5 versions of Vampire Survivors were released back in August 2024. Alongside the base game itself, all of the DLC for the game was also released

The last major DLC released for Vampire Survivors was Ode to Castlevania, where Poncle collaborated with Konami to bring in some Castlevania-related characters, enemies and weapons to the game. Retailing for just $3.99, the DLC packs over 20 playable characters from across the franchise, whether it’s good ol’ Simon Belmont, Shanoa from Order of Ecclesia, or Sypha Belnades from the Netflix animated series. There are over 40 new weapons to unlock and more than 30 new tracks, including classic music and remixes.

To access the DLC, you need to unlock Stage Selection by reaching level 20 in the first stage, which also opens up the Inlaid Library map. Scroll down to the bottom, and Ode to Castlevania should be available.

If you’re new to Vampire Survivors, it’s a great time to start with the base game and DLC discounted on Steam until November 4th.

There are over 20 new characters included in the DLC, including the Belmonts Simon, Richter, Trevor, and Sionia; the Belnades like Sypha, Yoko, Charlotte Aulin, and Maria Renard; and even the likes of Shaona and Eric Lecarde. You can also get more than 40 new weapons, including eight different whips, Alucard’s weapons, Glyphs, and spells (including some from the Game Boy Advance titles).

While some characters will start with a weapon, you can eventually unlock at least one Weapon Selector for each, like the Belmonts getting their choice of whip. On top of this, players will explore the largest map in the series yet and listen to over 30 new tracks (remixes and originals alike). Stay tuned when the DLC launches later this month.

On top of its base experience, Vampire Survivor’s PlayStation release also brings with it all previously released DLC for the game – both paid and free – the former of which also includes collaborations with other games, including Among Us and Contra with the Emergency Meeting and Operation Guns expansions. 

Vampire Survivors is also available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. Stay tuned for details on more updates for the game in the coming weeks and months.

The reverse bullet hell title has seen significant updates and free content since launching in December 2021. There have also been various paid DLC, including Legacy of the Moonspell, Tides of the Foscari, Emergency Meeting (a collaboration with Among Us) and Operation Guns (another collaboration with Konami’s Contra). Each has added new characters, maps, secrets, and more. Fortunately, PlayStation players won’t have to wait to play them, as all DLC will be available day and date of the game’s release.

Taking to Twitter, Poncle has addressed that question, though a release date still remains elusive. As per the studio, the reason it still doesn’t have specifics to share on that front is that with this being the first time it’s going through the PlayStation submission progress, things are “taking a little longer than usual”. Alongside that, Poncle says it’s also “doing some trial and error on Trophies to ensure we get them right.”

“But we’ll let you know ASAP when as have a solid date,” the developer adds.

Vampire Survivors has seen a string of meaty updates this year so far, with the Space-54 and Laborratory free updates in March and April respectively, and the paid Contra-themed Operation Guns DLC last month.

Vampire Survivors is currently available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, and Android, and is coming to PS5 and PS4.

Players can kick off Vampire Survivors: Operation Guns by starting in the new Neo Galuga stage. The DLC also has a new adventure with what is described by developer poncle as a “strongly guns-themed experience”. The adventure almost exclusively makes use of the new characters of the DLC, as well as weapons from the Contra franchise.

Operation Guns was originally announced back in April, and features 11 new characters, 22 new weapons, and 13 new music tracks, all inspired by the Contra franchise.

Vampire Survivors: Operation Guns is far from the first collaboration DLC that poncle has worked on. In the past, the studio has released an Among Us-themed DLC, titled Emergency Meeting.

More recently, Vampire Survivors saw the release of the Laborratory update, which brought a new bonus stage and character.

Players can also look forward to a new weapon (complete with an evolution), a new passive weapon, and the new Seal 3 power-up. The Challenge Stage is the titular Laborratory, where “everything is trying to kill you.” Levers adorn the stage, some triggering “mostly positive effects” based on your Luck (which may include the new train that mows down hordes). You can also obtain weapons and passives.

The Bonus Stage, Carlo Cart, is more noteworthy since you’re on a mine cart and can’t stop moving. Slowing down is still an option, though, and while it doesn’t provide any unlocks, it’s a unique experience.

Vampire Survivors is available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch. It’s coming to PS4 and PS5 later this year.
