Runic Games has officially priced the upcoming Torchlight 2, and has announced that it will be sold for $20.

The game will have four classes- three of which were announced earlier (Berserker, Engineer, and Outlander). The fourth class has now been announced as Embermage.

Runic CEO Max Schaefer says everyone can “comfortably afford” Torchlight 2 at it’s announced price point, and play it “via a LAN, or play single player offline, all with no further purchase.”

No release date has yet been announced, but we know it’ll be out this year.

M2 Research analyst Billy Pidgeon said that Nintendo must lower software prices for the 3DS, because, other than selling hardware, they must also increase the system’s attach rate and give more opportunities to third parties.

“Nintendo needs to change its business fundamentally … Selling in hardware is important, but Nintendo must increase attach rates and third party opportunity dramatically,” he said.

 “Lower 3DS hardware prices only address part of the problem. It’s more important to sell more software as packaged goods and paid digital downloads to each customer who buys a hardware unit.”

He added: “I would like to see Nintendo cut the retail price of packaged software to a range of $20 to $25 for the 3DS. DS software should be $20 or less.”

Well, after the recent, huge price cut for the 3DS barely 6 months into its life cycle, I don’t think Nintendo would like to loose more money by slashing software price as well.

Nintendo, in a meeting with investors, said that they would reveal details on the Wii U’s release date and price in 2012. President Satoru Iwata feels after the recent 3DS price cut announcement, fans will feel that Wii U would be getting a price cut too, so Nintendo must regain the “trust” of their fans before they announce anything about the Wii U.

 “Since the Wii U we showed you at the E3 show in June was still in the development phase without very specific proposals on the software titles, we are going to announce the release date and the price next year when we are able to explain the specific proposals,” said Iwata.

“With regard to the influence on the Wii U, what we have to take most seriously is that the price markdown could damage the trust of the consumers who bought the Nintendo 3DS just after the launch,” he continued. “I feel greatly accountable for it. Our decision of the price markdown this time has a side effect that, at the launch of the Wii U, people may feel that the price might drop in the near future if they wait. What we will be able to do to recover the consumers’ trust before the launch of the Wii U is very important to us.”

Sony Ericsson has kicked off a contest to promote their new Playstation Phone, Xperia Play in some European Countries and it has resulted in the device’s price being revealed.

The contest has 10 Xperia Play phones up for grab. The contest page values the total amount to be 4999,00 € which means one unit is priced around 499,00 €.

This means the phone will cost roughly $400.

Pretty decent for such a high-level phone. What do you think?

Nintendo’s confirmed that the 3DS will be releasing on March 25 in Europe. It’ll be accompanied by 7 launch titles in the region.

However, they are yet to announce a price for the device.

HMV’s mentioned on Twitter a £229 price for the basic console.

It’ll cost $249 in US and will release on March 27.

Respected publication MCV has stated that the 3DS will be out in the UK on or around the 25th of March at a price point between £200-£230. The site says it has been ‘led to believe that the 3DS will arrive in the UK on or around March 25th with a shelf price of £200-£230.’

Professional analysts are saying the 3DS will be priced somewhere beteween $249 and $299 (£159/£191). We’re guessing the price will be around $200, which means the 3DS will sell like peanuts (I hate peanuts, by the way).

He also said that he believes that Natal will outsell the Playstation Arc 5 to 1.“I think that the Sony motion controller will have some problems gaining traction, since it is not an “in the box” solution,” the Wedbush Morgan analyst said in an interview with PS3 Center. “That will probably limit adoption to 1 or 2 million at the outset.”

“A year or so after launch, there will be 10 million [Project Natal units] out there, which will probably attract more third-party support,” he further added.
