Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 is confirmed to be releasing on September 20th in the UK for PS3 as both a digital and retail title while also heading to the Xbox 360 and PC. A few demo details were also shared following Gamescom 2013 along with new screenshots.

PES 2014 features tons of changes this time around, built on the foundation of Kojima Productions’ new FOX Engine which gives it a new sense of realism and increased detail. Players will reportedly move and flow much more differently than before, and their actions will be influenced by whether the crowd is cheering or disappointed.

The game also include Trueball Tech, which casts the ball as a separate entity that is independent of the player’s actions, and hence behaves more realistically. Barycentric physics also allows you to control how players shift their weight while moving, and the Motion Animation Stability System (MASS) means that players will be colliding in a far more realistic way than before. This also means that no two collisions will be the same.

Take a look at the new PES 14 ball mechanics

Earlier today this video was released, detailing some of the more nuanced elements of the upcoming installment in the Pro Evolution Soccer series, the main competitor of the FIFA franchise.

In this video we see that, through a series of specific analogue stick movements, players can make their individual team players performs a whole host of advanced soccer moves to either confuse, break past, or defend against the opposing team. From the looks of things, we can expect the most fluid game play we’ve seen thus far in a Pro Evolution Soccer game.

According to reports released by Konami, almost every aspect of Pro Evolution Soccer 14 will be focused on the ball. How the ball moves, and how the players interact with the ball are all dependant on the physics engine programmed into the ball. In addition to ball physics, special attention was payed to player motion physics, which will be incorporated in player interactions such as slide tackling, breaking, corner kick dynamics, and more.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 releases for Windows, PlayStation 3, PSP, Xbox 360, and Nintendo 3DS this September.

Realistic physics and animation to power the players of PES 2014.

Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that it will be featuring Havok in Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 to power the physics, animations and cloth simulation for a more realistic take on soccer.

Asia Regional Director at Havok Arnaud Saint-Martin stated that, “Player movements and physics are key components of a lively game, so it’s a true honor for Havok to power these elements in Konami’s incredible PES 2014.

“The Pro Evolution Soccer team has been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in a football game, and in these years, Havok has worked with this talented team to integrate Havok’s technology to help take the realism of PES even further. We think football fans will appreciate how Havok technology will blur the line between the sport and simulation, and provide a football experience that looks as real as can be.”

PES 2014 will release for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PS Vita later this year.
