An Australian classification for the game spills the beans.

id Software have carved out a resurgent fanbase over the last few years with their new DOOM games, which are fantastic first person shooters in their own right, but it seems the developer might have other irons in the fire as well.

For instance, it looks like they’re currently working on a VR-exclusive game. As spotted by DSO Gaming, an Australian classification rating has been handed to a virtual reality game being developed by if Software, currently codenamed Project 2021A. As per the classification, the game will have online features as well, and unsurprisingly for an id Software game, it will have “high impact violence.”

It’s possible that id Software are working on a VR mode for DOOM Eternal, or perhaps a completely new DOOM VR project- they did make DOOM VFR in 2017, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility. Then again, perhaps it’s not a DOOM game at all.

Either way, here’s hoping we’ll learn more about the game sooner rather than later. We’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned.
