Today it was announced on the Call Of Duty: Ghosts website that the multiplayer reveal for the upcoming game will take place on August 14th, 2013. Gamers can tune in to watch the reveal live via the website at 10:30 AM PDT.

Not too much is known about the multiplayer mode at the moment, but developers have confirmed character customization, new maps, and new player movements and abilities, such as the ability to lean around corners.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts is the tenth feature installment in the Call Of Duty series, and the sixth to be developed by Infinity Ward (Treyarch is developing the Wii U version).

Call of Duty: Ghosts will see release across Windows, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and the Xbox One. However, publishers Activision have stated that they expect Ghosts not to perform as well on the market as the previously released Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, due to the upcoming console generation switch.

Will you play Call Of Duty: Ghosts on your next gen console?

A GTA V / Max Payne 3 Mashup.

YouTube poster, datarace1, posted a video which shows the glaring similarities between the game play in Max Payne 3 and the much anticipated latest installment in the GTA series, Grand Theft Auto V.

Rockstar Games hasn’t been shy about the fact that they have shared some aspects of gameplay from Max Payne 3 to improve the often-based combat elements of grand Theft Auto. It’s difficult in a game like GTA, which incorporate so many different small elements, to make each as polished as those of games with a more narrow gameplay focus.

Datarace1, commenting on his own video, points out several similarities and dofferences he has observed in the video:

“A few things that i’ve noticed through this comparison:

1 – Franklin’s crouched-walk approach to the car is much faster than MP3, it’s a little hard to tell here because the MP3 character presses the cover button from further away which smoothly automates to the car. This “fast crouch” was present in both Episodes From Liberty City and Red Dead Redemption, but not GTA IV.

2 – When Franklin is walking toward the building while firing from the hip, he is walking a bit slower than the MP3 character, but when he brings the gun up to his shoulder on the 5th and 6th targets, the walking speeds seem the same.

3 – The GTA V camera has been backed away from the character a bit so that you can see more of your surroundings at once.

Probably tons of other small differences as well, but you can count on great controls that you will learn to_ love (if you haven’t already).”

These details are minutia, but the fact that one has to look so deeply to discern any differences speaks to what we can expect to see in the gameplay of the upcoming GTA V, which releases this September.

Hold out cricket fans, your time will come.

Ashes Cricket 2013, the next-in-line to International Cricket 2010, was originally slated to release in line with the actual UK Ashes cricket series, which would have been a marketing gold mine. However, 505 Games has announced that the release of the title will now be delayed until November 2013, effectively abandoning the previous marketing strategy, and opting to wait until the second ashes series which will take place later this year.

When asked for comment Tim Woodley, 505 Games SVP of global brand and marketing had this to say: “Unforeseen issues which developer Trickstar faced in latter stages of development have meant that they have been unable to do the requisite amount of polishing and fine-tuning which any game needs. We owe it to ourselves, to our licensors, the ECB and Cricket Australia, but most of all to the dedicated cricket fans and gamers to put our best foot forward.

It is small compensation that we have the benefit of a second Ashes series in this unique cricketing year, which affords us further time to work on the game and get it right for the return leg. We are confident that the time between now and the second Ashes series will be enough to add the final polish we believe the game needs.”

Cricket fan or not, you have to respect a game team that — especially in these dire times for gaming — is willing to sacrifice an almost certainly more profitable released and marketing campaign for overall game quality.

A look at Spies vs. Mercs game play.

Earlier today Ubisoft uploaded this new preview video which delves into some of the details of the upcoming release, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Specifically detailed are some of the elements of one of Blacklist’s co-op modes, Spies Vs. Mercs. In the video we get to listen to two of the game’s developers, one the level design director, and the other the community developer, as they play through some of the different levels and characters.

In this Blacklist edition Mercs Vs Spies mode, we see that the game incorporates 4 on 4 co-op game play, which is an unusually high amount of players seeing action. As a result, the game play takes place at a much faster pace, as we can see in the video, one of the developers has a difficult time balancing staying alive with fielding questions.

The two classes, spies and mercenaries are detailed, with a few specific character classes shown. According to the developers, while there is always room for unique tactics, the mercenary squad is more of a powerhouse, with beefed up weapons and strength, while the spy class is more stealth, using the environment and interference-based technology to be effective.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist drops for Windows, PS 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 on August 20th, 2013.
