Talk about thinking ahead.

Right now the PlayStation brand is about as strong as it’s ever been. Not since the days of the PlayStation 2 has Sony been so alone at the top. The PS4 has probably cemented the company as being a constant gaming presence from now until the whole industry collapses one day. And Sony is looking ahead as new trademarks have emerged up to the PlayStation 10.

The trademarks appeared in Japan for four different potential systems. The PS6, PS7, PS8, PS9 and PS10 all got individual trademarks. That may seem like quite the ways out, since we’re on the verge of getting the PS5, but it’s actually not that unusual. For instance, the PS5 trademark actually came in 2006, which was the same year the PS4 was trademarked.

It just goes to show how confident Sony is in the brand that they are trademarking so many different systems. It’s wild to think about, especially since there’s no way to tell what a gaming console will even be at that point in time. We’ll be beaming games directly into our brains by the PS10, if society doesn’t collapse in a hellish landscape by then. We’ll just have to wait and see.
