Xbox One secures itself a Japanese exclusive.

You might not believe it, considering how badly the Xbox 360 does there, but Microsoft’s consoles get a fair amount of hardcore niche Japanese support, especially in the SHMUPs and visual novel genres. Today, Microsoft’s Xbox One managed to garner a fair bit of exclusive Japanese support for itself ahead of its launch there later this year. A fair few titles were announced, but one will probably stand out more than others.

Specifically, a new title in the classic Raiden action series that started out in arcades in 1990, was announced; the new game will purportedly celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise as well.

The previous game of the series, Raiden IV: Overkill, was released on the PlayStation 3; the new game, simply called Raiden, has only been announced for Xbox One so far, although it was never explicitly referred to as an exclusive.

The Xbox One launches later this year in Japan, alongside a fair few other markets as well, including India.

A time-travelling Raiden is the only hope for stopping an army of body snatchers (yes, for real).

We were more than a little surprised when Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes director Hideo Kojima revealed the Xbox-exclusive mission for the upcoming cross-generational prologue to The Phantom Pain. You’ll be playing as Raiden and taking on body-snatchers at the Cuban base that serves as the setting for the main story mission.

But there’s more. According to Siliconera, this is made possible by Raiden going back in time. The reason why it’s Raiden specifically is because his cyborg vision allows him to easily identity the body snatchers and dispose of them. Did we mention that gameplay mainly centers on killing tons of enemies but some how balancing it in such a way as to not break cover? It’s been described as a “sneak around and kill specific targets mission.” So make of that what you will.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is scheduled to release on March 18th 2014 in North America and March 20th 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4.

PC Version coming time to rejoice

Metal Gear Rising: Revengance will now be coming out for PC. Fans have been asking for a PC version ever since the game came out back in February of this year.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengance took the Metal Gear franchise into a whole different level of gameplay. The new Metal Gear wasn’t a sequel or had anything to do with Solid Snake whatsoever; instead you played as Raiden who’s a cyborg ninja from the franchise.

The gameplay style of Metal Gear Rising: Revengance was all about fast action and fluid combat mechanics, it introduced the unique blade/ripper mode mechanic where time slows down, and you can cut your enemies to pieces with your wide variety of different weapons.

The game doesn’t boast amazing graphics or pretty looking environments but instead it provided good challenging boss fights, fantastic combat system and just fun gameplay overall.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengance will be running at 60 FPS “on most modern PCs” and will be released digitally according to the press release.

Let us know if you’ll be picking up the PC version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengance in the comments section below.

Check back on GamingBolt for more news and updates and expect to hear more about it at E3 2013.

Konami is concentrating on MGS HD Collection right now, which should release in November. Rising looks really promising but we haven’t seen a lot of footage about the game so far. Maybe, soon. Kojima sure is planning something. Tell us what you think of this pic in the comments section below.
