Yuki Ikeda, the director of the Sony exclusive PSN title, Rain, in a recent interview on 4Gamer stated that despite the massively successful recent October release of Rain, he is already looking ahead to the development of his next game. And it seems he wants it to be an action title. he was quoted:

“The next generation will be released at last! The space under the TV is going to become cramped. Rain ended up as a quite quiet game, but I believe the next one may be an intense [it can also be translated as “violent”] game. It’d make me happy if you’d look forward to it.”

Ikeda has expressed interest in next generation console gaming before, so the hope is that this newest title–whatever it may be–is aimed for release on console. Rain’s success on the PSN only speaks to the huge potential the Sony Japan game director could have if he were to be working with a powerhouse console i.e. the PlayStation 4.

Rain, the upcoming PlayStation 3 title being developed by Sony Japan Studios, has been slowly garnering more and more hype as we near its release. There’s been a series of developer diaries taking us behind the development of the title, talking about the various aspects of the game; now, the latest one talks about the music of the game, talking about how the vocals and the instrumentals were both important and needed to be remolded to fit the mood of the game. It seems like the entire game has been developed with that frame of mind.

To be honest, in a game as atmospheric and clearly mood intensive as Rain looks to be, that is a great consideration to have; too many games have great atmosphere which is ruined by one jarring element or the other that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Rain releases on PlayStation 3 later this year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for further coverage of the title.

New developer diary talks about the game's emotional responses.

Sony’s PlayStation 3 support is seriously to be commended. With Microsoft having left the Xbox 360 to largely fend for itself as it prepares for the upcoming Xbox One launch, and Nintendo all but dropping Wii support a year before the Wii U launched, Sony has set an exemplary precedent for the entire industry, having launched so many major exclusives for their soon to be obsolete platform this year, with more coming up.

One of these is Rain, a highly tense new adventure game coming to PlayStation 3 later this year from Japan Studio. If the game hasn’t caught your eye yet, or if you don’t know what it is about, make sure to check out the developer diary above. It talks about the crafting of a game world that the player responds to emotionally, while also showing off new gameplay footage.

Rain is a PSN only release on the PlayStation 3. It launches later this year.

It’s been a good year for the PS3 and it’s going to end well too.

The Last generation of PS3 games is upon us. With the PS4 hitting shelves sometime in November there really aren’t going to be too many more games coming out of the PS3 for long. While there are going to be some new cross-platform titles releasing on it in 2014, the sun has begun to set on the PS3 with the announcement of the next generation.

This is more than alright though, the best titles for a console tend to come out towards the end of it’s life. It’s a bittersweet affair that happens in every successful console’s life cycle. Just look at what we’ve seen this year for the PS3 and it’s been a good year for gaming in general as we usher out the old and bring in the new. The PlayStation 3 still has a few exclusive gems to share with us before the year is done.

1. The Last Guardian:

The Last Guardian promises to be interesting with Team ICO behind the game’s development there is a lot to look forward to. The story is about a boy as he becomes friends with a giant, wild- yet friendly creature as they try to escape what appears to be a monolithic and ancient castle.

The wonderful cinematic sequences, creature design and art style are going to be a treat for anyone who is a fan of games like Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. The action ans well as game-play in The Last Guardian also looks like it will bring a fresh twist to the Action-Adventure genre. It will be interesting to see how a young boy deals with large, armored soldiers while apparently not having any real weapons. The underlying tone of friendship and dedication is a nice touch of emotion that we should be seeing more of in gaming.

Given the questionable absence of the game, we think that this will be a cross generation game.

Rain..rain...rain..

Japan Studio’s has released a brand new trailer for their brand new adventure game Rain. Rain is a PlayStation 3 exclusive that will be releasing sometime this fall on the PlayStation Network.

The trailer is two minutes long and showcases the atmosphere, emotion and tone of the game. You play as a boy in Rain who gets lost and then later becomes invisible.

The game is set as a mysterious adventure that tries to convey the feeling of being lonely, lost and confused. Judging by the trailer the developers have done a great job at creating a depressing tone and mystery at the same time.

Let us know if you’re excited to play Rain on your PlayStation 3 later this Fall.

Check back on GamingBolt for our review of the game in the coming months and media updates as we get closer to E3 2013.

This stealth game wants you to feel "uncertain". Mission accomplished.

We got to take a closer look at the SCEJ-developer Rain, which will be heading to PlayStation Network for PS3 when it releases. It comes from the same team that bought us Tokyo Jungle and Echochrome.

Rain has you playing as a boy who enters an unknown region at night and suddenly becomes invisible. He can only be seen when he wanders into the rain, and must protect an unknown girl from the invisible monsters that stalk the night. Since there are no attacks, it’s a delicate balance between distracting the monsters and making your presence known to get by them.

Heck, at times, you need to bump into things just to be able to see yourself.

It’s an intriguing concept to be sure, and Sony showcased some gameplay footage and screenshots to indicate just how the game will cause players to be “uncertain” throughout. We’ll see how this pans out when the game releases, hopefully within this year.
The game looks quite intriguing and will probably feature mechanics where you need to take advantage of the rain to communicate with others.

The trailer had a piano music and matched the gameplay well. Stay tuned for more news and information at GamingBolt.

Sony has also registered a trademark for a second title, ‘Until Dawn’, which may or may not be to do with vampires.

Slightly more is known about Rain, a .gif taken from a PlayStation demo reel shows a few seconds of cyberpunk fighting in, yes you’ve guessed it, the rain, is widely believed to be footage from Rain.

Unfortunately Rain doesn’t look like the Heavy Rain prequel we’d all hoped for, a game where Ethan Mars manages to lose none of his children.
